The guy was very friendly. It was 11:00 at night when he came. I called him because my furnace had shut down and it needed a replacement. I called them right away because it was cold. I called them around 10:00. They’re on 24-hour call. It was only $170 because it was late at night. This is what I like about this guy, the guy came in, looked at it and said, “oh, your furnace shut off.” He said it was a good thing he showed up because if he didn’t it could have caused a carbon monoxide thing, and he didn’t charge me at all. I didn’t get charged by that guy and I even asked him. “are you going to charge me?” He said, “no, no, there is nothing I can do. It’s not working, so I can’t do anything so I’m not going to charge you for coming here. I would use him again if he was available. He did pretty good.

They charged me too much for their service. Before they came over I went and checked my furnace again, that was a couple of hours and it started working. The guy came in and I told him my furnace started working. He said, “let me take a look at it.” He said it needed some cleaning and he charged me $300. All he did was vacuum the thing and that’s it. He charged me for maintenance and cleaning. It didn’t even take him five minutes to do all of those things. He charged me $300 for 10 minutes. They did a pretty good job. They are the ones I’ve been calling for a couple of years ago for doing my furnace. They are the ones that replaced my furnace. The first guy who did it, he was good. This guy right here is a different guy. They charged us way too much and I didn’t like the work that he did. He could have told me he would do the cleaning and I will charge you this much, instead he charged me twice for cleaning and calling him to check on my furnace.

It was a fair price. They came out real quick. Just one tech came out to perform service and left the area clean. It wasn't a huge service and I think it took a couple hours.

I didn't like them at all. I think the pricing and sales pitch bothered me the most. I would have to say that they did a pretty good job on it. I was not displeased. They gave me a good idea of what condition my furnace was in. If I remember correctly, they were really responsive. Their punctuality was good. They really did try and sell me a new furnace and a new water heater all in one package. That is not what we brought them here for. It was like the sales pitch when they came in and I didn't like that. They gave us an overpriced estimate. They said if you buy the furnace we will kick in the water heater for x amount of dollars. Somehow we found out, I don't know what kind of research I am not normally a research person, perhaps did a little bit of research and found out that they were really kind of yanking us around on price. They were courteous and nice, but it was the hustle that bothered me so badly. Whenever I have had another company in here they give me a straight up estimate and it seems fair. But it's the feeling that I am being pushed into something that I don't want. I would not even recommend them to anybody.

Technician arrived the same day and spoke with me about the job needing done. Explain to him I had a leaking faucet in the shower and the value cartridge needed replacement. Replacing the valve cartridge is not a difficult task but it was difficult for me to remove due to the sediment build up over the years. The technician agreed that Moens are tend to be a bit harder to remove. The technician removed the valve cartridge and replaced the new one I already have purchased in under a hour. He checked for leaks and was on his way.

Had issues with my furnace, they said it was a dirty sensor. Cleaned it. Within six hours the same issue comes up, my furnace stops working. Now I'm being told that it's an unrelated issue? And it'll be another charge, more for after hours, for someone to come out and look at it again? You're kidding me?! It obviously wasn't fixed the first time! It's a different issue because they didn't find the right one. I said I was willing to pay the difference between the cost yesterday and the new cost today. I just wasn't willing to repay the first 120 dollars again when they didn't find the issue the first time. I'm going to see someone else.

They were on time. They got everything taken care of. They made sure there were no leaks. They did their job. They were clean and courteous. I would recommend them. Emily, who I spoke with on the phone and set up the appointment did a great job as well. Clinton and Luke came out and they did a great job.

Called them at 8:20 Monday morning to set
up service call, called them back at after lunch because had not heard back
from them. The service tech calls an hour later to say he was on the way
and should be there in 15 minutes or less.  He ran a check on the furnace and discovered that
the control board was bad and it would have to be replaced at a cost of
$568.00, I told him that I thought that was high because I had checked prices
on a new one ($120.00 to $260.00) and that they had just installed a new $1,500.00
water heater two weeks ago and they were the only service I have used over the
past 20 years. The service tech said that he could drop the price down to
$468.88 as I had been a good customer over the years. The work was completed
and paid for they cleaned up their tools and left

Though this review is long overdue, we would only use Mountain Mechanical as they always went above and beyond for us when we lived in Alaska.  They always did our pre-winter furnace inspections with 2 techs coming to the house - one inspecting the furnace and the other taking notes on a checklist.  We never ever had a problem with our furnace while they were doing inspections for us.  As for above and beyond, when selling our home, the buyer decided they wanted a furnace inspection and some 'friend of the family' went and inspected our furnace stating it needed $3,000 in repairs and it appeared it had never been looked into before (noting I had always witnessed Mountain Mechanical servicing it).  I called Mountain Mechanical, and even though we moved out of Alaska, they still provided us with copies of every single service report we ever had for the furnace, checklists included.
Don't go anywhere else.

Visited by Contractor the day of appt. but not at the scheduled time.  They inspected for seller at time of sale.  Everything reported as adequate. Had them revisit and inspect last year.  Person who visited was fairly new.  Reported that I require new furnace.  I later tried to called the owner to get quote for new furnace.  Very difficult to get a return call.  He did finally but was in the evening while grocery shopping.  I ask if I could call him back after I returned home.  I did this but never had my call returned.  It appears they have no person responsible to answering or managing phone messages... at least at that time.

Professional, prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable, a technician from Mountain Mechanical came out right away to diagnose and fix installation errors to our combi boiler / water heater caused by Klebs Mechanical. We hired Klebs to install a high-efficiency combi unit after receiving three bids because their bid came in the lowest. That was such a huge mistake! ?After a month-long ordeal of getting the run around, being treated with such disrespect, and having problem after problem with our unit, we ended up spending more in time, money, headache, and stress than if we had gone with a reputable company like Mountain Mechanical from the start.? We were so pleased with Mountain Mechanical's responsiveness, thoroughness, and professionalism--they really saved us when we were without heat and hot water. We now call Mountain Mechanical right away whenever we have any plumbing or mechanical questions because we know we are going to get quality advice, service, and work.?

I made an appointment for two furnances to be inspected (one for the house, one for heated driveway).  Quinton came and inspected the house furnace only.  When told we also scheduled the driveway furnace to be inspected as well his response was "I was only told to do one". Instead of taking a minute to call his office to verify or have the common courtesy to inspect the second furnace he chose to do neither option and left after just completing half the job.  I called the office today to advise them of what occurred and it seemed the receptionist was making excuses that he may have "thought" the house furnace was the same as the driveways.  If Quinton is a professional heating and cooling maintenance worker he should have been able to see that they are not the same.  I advised that we just spent over $1500 from Mountain Mechanical for a new hot water heater and this type of service was not acceptable. It didn't seem to be a bother so I advised that they have now lost my business.
Response from Always On Call Mountain Mechanical Corp
"Your comments and this situation have been reviewed by management, and have been addressed directly with the employees. It has not been ignored, over looked, or swept under the rug, but it has taken some time and we apologize for the delay. We are sorry this incident has led to the loss of a valued customer. The “receptionist” you mentioned asked you what we could do to make it right and offered to send our lead technician out, at no additional charge, to make sure we met your needs and expectations. Additionally, she agreed with you that what you requested had not been completed to your satisfaction, understood your frustration, was trying to make sure she understood all of your concerns, and offered to have you speak directly with one of the officers about those concerns. She believed you did deserve better service, which was the reason for the questions and clarification she asked. Our technician should have realized that there were two separate units and completed the inspections for both, and we have apologized several times for the confusion and misunderstanding. We are not sure what more we could offer, in addition to what we have already offered, but if there is something we can do, please contact us."

The technician arrived on time as usual and greeted me with a smile. He had a "trainee" with him that day to show him the ropes. Replaced the air filter and ran a diagnostic and operational check on the system. Everything went great. I use these guys exclusively. Had them do plumbing and replace me water tank and heater in the past.

I OWE MOUNTAIN MECHANICAL AN APOLOGY.

This morning, 3 June 2015, the owner of Mountain Mechanical did something often unprecedented in customer relations wherein he visited my home as a follow-up to a complaint I previously posted on Angie's List.

Usually when a customer is dissatisfied with the service they have received the company will often dismiss the complainant and ignore the problem.  In this case I can report to you the owner of Mountain Mechanical took special interest in a customers' concerns and personally came to my home to discuss my complaint.

To say that my complaint was resolved is not enough.  How often do we see an owner actually come to a client's home and visit with them to discuss their issue?  I cannot recall this ever happening.

THAT IS THE MARK OF A TRUE PROFESSIONAL.

I will now go out of my way to use their services in the future and can only offer my strongest recomendation to others in Anchorage to do the same.
