In esssence, I sat on the wait list for 6 months to have some insulation work done. The property was inspected in May, twice. Once by Brandon, and once with Brandon and a supervisor to see what needed to be done. I know as well as anyone that we needed to do some demo work to gain access because we were taking pictures through a transfer grill (a balancing vent above a door). After 3 additional months, multiple e mails and phone calls, I finaly got a response from the receptionist today. She was passing along a message that the area is too small and we need to cut access in the sheetrock ... And, you need to hire a general contractor, this is beyond the scope of Alas-Co. Clearly reading other reviews, Alas-Co is involved in repairs and work where this would clearly be within "scope" of the company. So here we are, coming up on 10 months after my initial call, re-starting the entire process because they can't be bothered to communicate that they don't want the work. Hopefully this review helps others not pick this company.

After email and phone contact, we made an appointment for him to come out and give us an estimate to provide blown insulation.  He forgot to come and we waited a good bit.  He did email the next day and apologized for forgetting.  The company was very nice in all the communications.  He offered to come out again, but we declined and found another insulation company.

Their employee just walked through and barely looked at our attic and spaces. When we asked whether he had a blower on him, he claimed they do not do that. Our energy rater had told us to make sure to hire someone who had a blower. How else are they going to isolate and fix the leakages? Their employee said they would email us an estimate the next day. After this experience though, we will not be hiring them. I had also asked a friend who had asked for a bid on insulation as well and she had told me that the company they called performed a blower test.

I am in the middle of doing the AHFC energy rebate program and it was time for the insulation portion. Alas-Co. was my first call, they came out and gave me a very thorough walk through of what they were looking at and what needed to be done in accordance with the as is report/test. They were very knowledgable and answered all my questions in a way that I could understand and provided me with additional information about the foam they were going to use, which I looked up on the internet to do my own research for my own peace of mind. After finishing my bid I asked for a couple their comeptitors so I can get other bid, which they gave no hesitation in doing. The other two companies I got bids from definitely came in under Alas-Co's but it was more like they were just going as low as they could to get the business, this raised a few red flags. When you go that low on a bid you're more than likely cutting corners somewhere. When I ask for information about what materials they were using they spouted off a few technical terms which I wrote down and later looked up on the net, and one of them said they would send me a link to the website of a company they were getting their products from. When I asked the guy from Alas-Co questions about materials and such, he dumbed it down to a consumer level and competently explained everything. The neighbors were very interested into what I was doing and had a few questions for them which they took the time to answer .
All in all, you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny. I will definitely be referring my friends and co-workers to Alas Co.
Great works guys and thank you,
DRE

They were quick, efficient, and did a good job. Sean the manager came out and supervised the job, checking before and after.

Alas.Co recommended by Earhart Roofing of Anchorage. I was having ice dam and interior leaking issues and my ceilings were poorly insulated. Alas.Co came out promptly and did a thorough review ... made recommendations that made sense to me ... got a bid to me within a couple of days ... scheduled an appointment ... two workers came out exactly as scheduled and spent 4 hours replacing baffles, reconfiguring a vent, and blowing insulation into the crawl space. It was tight work and took about 2 hours longer than they had planned for but I am completely pleased with the professionalism. There is really no way I can get up in the crawl space to see what was done but they took photos and showed them to me and I have no reason to believe that things didn't go well. If this job solves my problem I think the money spent is fair and well worth it.

Everything went smoothly. The crew was professional and timely. The attic insulation was done two days after the other work because their spray man was out of town on the first day. I like the job they did and would not hesitate to use them again.

Somehow we got through last winter without having any leaks but not this year so they will be back. They did insulation and then when we had a leak, they came and pulled up the vent insulation and tried to locate the cause of the leak and blew in more insulation.

We called to get an estimate, the contractor arrived on time and provided an estimate via email and snail mail within a day. We asked a lot of questions and were satisfied by the responses that they really knew what they were doing. We scheduled the work for the next week. The work was completed within a few hours and looked great. They put foam insulation into the rim joists, but did not cover the foam with fiberglass batts as we had discussed verbally, but they were very responsive to our request that they complete this work, came back the next week and completed the job. We were promptly invoiced for the agreed upon amount. We were very happy with the work and the price.
