Brought the car in and dropped off the night before our appointment - wrote on the check in sheet that we needed an oil change and a re-charge of the A/C unit as it had stopped working.  By about 5 pm the next day we had not heard from them so we had to call for an update.  The car was done but we had yet to receive a call.  When we arrived to pick up the vehicle we stood in the waiting area for 10-15 minutes with no other customers waiting while they typed all the information into the computer.  Apparently the A/C did not require recharging but only had a loose wire.  The cost to correct a loose wire was $200 labor!  I understand it may take time to locate the problem but I find it hard to believe that it took twice as long to find a loose wire as it did to perform a complete oil change, filer, lube, and fluid check.  They also located a leaking valve cover gasket which we received an estimate for - around $500.  Being unhappy with the service we did not schedule the valve cover repair.  I called another mechanic I had worked with and they quoted around $300 for the same job.  I will not be returning to Accurate Import.

First, let me apologize publicly to all of my friends and acquaintances that I have referred to 'Accurate' over the years. At one time, AJ was a man of integrity who stood behind the work in his shop and I was always positive about referring people to Accurate. AJ has since, come to find out, taken a hands-off approach to the work, quality and integrity of his employees. Jason, who is evidently his "lead and trusted mechanic" yelled at my daughter when she asked why the engine, which was recently worked on by him, would run out of oil. Jason was incredibly aggressive and screamed at my daughter when she tried to suggest that perhaps an error was made when installing the new head gasket yelled, "It wasn't my fault, it was your's!!!" We have since talked with a number of REAL mechanics familiar with Subaru's and discovered that the likely cause of the engine failure and loss of oil was that Jason secured the head bolts too tightly, causing the block to crack when the engine heated up, causing the engine oil to mix with the coolant. AJ and his mechanic refused to admit that this was the case and only offered to replace the engine with a used engine of higher mileage at the cost of $3106 and NO GUARANTEES. Now that engine leaks oil, wouldn't start and they STILL will not stand behind their work. I am so thoroughly disappointed with the lack of quality, lack of integrity and maltreatment of the customers (yelling at a customer is simply not acceptable) that I would NEVER, ever, refer anyone to this company. We spent almost $6,000 on this car at Accurate and have essentially a car worth nothing. Doing business with Accurate was a mistake. Eventually my daughter will recover financially from this mistake of using Accurate, Accurate's profits have benefitted by berating, maltreating and their poor performance, but my trust in their integrity and honesty is lost. I strongly urge you to consider another shop that values their customers and stands behind the performance of their employees.

Great!  I dropped it off; they told me about how long it would take, and they called me when it was ready.  It even was a few dollars less than they estimated.

I've taken my cars (8 or 9, I believe) to Accurate Import for over the past twenty-five years. I have worn out a couple, and my kids have retired a few cars for me. The place is why I keep buying Hondas. I have recommended Accurate Import to friends and co-workers with confidence for many years. I buy used cars instead of new - and have had AJ check out every single one. This has saved me money and headaches.
I subscribed to Angie's List for information on a different category - deck builders. Checking through the site for companies that I have used, I saw the one negative review - and had to respond. I'm sure AJ would never had told her to buy that car. And, their approach is to not fix or change something that does not need to be fixed or changed. That is the most cost-efficient way to process with vehicles. Timing belts are expensive to change and that cost stings. But, the alternative of running with a bad belt is much worse.
So take all of the reviews (good and bad) with caution. And, don't make your judgment of any company based on one review. I will continue to recommend this company with confidence.

To give you a bit of insight I have used these guys for
everything prior to this last episode with my car for many years. I have
been fighting the SAME exact problem for 6 months and they do not have a clue
how to fix it however they are more than okay with charging me to not fix
it. So, 6 months ago my car starts acting up and I bring it into
them. The owner AJ plugs my car into his computer and we fix what his
computer says to fix. Not 2 weeks later
the exact same thing happens again, so I bring it in, they hook up to it and we
fix whatever the computer tells us to fix.
Well, its been 6 months, 10 tows, over $3000 in parts and labor and
guess what… car still isn’t fixed. The
problem with this business is they plug in your car into their computer and
turn off their brain. Understandably
newer cars are computer driven but the point is they have completely forgotten
to use their head to try to find the root cause of the problem. But he was more than okay with charging me THOUSANDS
for parts I did NOT need to replace. If you
need a mechanic to really fix your problem a hobo will do you more good then
these guys.

Very responsive, nice, answered questions.
The mechanic called and spent 15 minutes on the phone describing findings, and recommended something which got them no additional work or income (sell the car as opposed to having them patch it up, which would require more work later...)
Would definitely return with my new Subaru for repairs.

These folks are awesome! I have recommended them many times, especially within the mini cooper community here in Anchorage. I would not bring by mini cooper anywhere else.
