The installer was excellent, but I immediately had problems switching my internet service from our old internet co to Verizon. The Verizon online help would come up "not available at this time." Calls to their tech support left you holding for long periods listening to awful music. They offered to call you back if you left a #. No one ever did. When I finally got through to tech support they said that the carrier I'd chosen would take up to 24 hrs to "migrate." 36 hours later I was still told my password was invalid even though I'd printed it out during the download process. Second time through to tech support I was promised Brian would research the problem and call me back at 6 the next night. He never did. 45 minutes on hold later I was cut off! Eventually I tried a lot of different things and managed to get my e-mail working no thanks to Verizons' tech support. I think they are seriously understaffed. Plan to spend a lot of time trying to get help from them that isn't very helpful.
Description of Work: Verizon Fios installed. It worked perfectly for our phone, TV and my husband's wireless internet. Installation was free and we expect to pay roughly $120 per month for the service, which we expect will save us about $50 over another internet company and our current local and long distance phone service. There were no problems with the installation that we can see. The problem was with the tech support I got in trying to switch my e-mail from another internet company to Verizon internet carrier.

It took a long time to get the order fulfilled (3 weeks), but once they did, the service has been great. Speeds are much faster than I expected (comparing with Comcast Cable, which I actually had at the same time). I get 3000 down and 768 up, and I live in a rural area, so I'm very happy.
Description of Work: I have $30/month Verizon DSL service in our new house. Verizon connected the service and sent out a DSL modem and line filters.

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! VERIZON DID NOT SHIP THE MODEM WHEN PROMISED. TOOK 2 WEEKS TO GET HERE. THEN THE MODEM DIDN'T WORK WHEN IT ARRIVED. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY COMPUTER. AN INDEPENDENT COMPUTER CONSULTANT CONFIRMED THAT MY COMPUTER WAS FINE, THAT THE MODEM WAS NOT RESET. THE CONSULTANT COST ME $150! I DIDN'T HAVE SERVICE FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE AND NONE OF MY PROBLEMS WERE DOCUMENTED AND FOLLOWED UP ON. I ESTIMATE I TALKED TO THEM AT LEAST 24 TIMES! UNFORTUNATELY, VERIZON OWNS ALL OF THE LINES IN MY TOWN SO NO MATTER WHO WE USED, WE'D STILL BE RELYING ON THEIR LINES AND PAYING LINE USAGE FEES. THIS IS A NON-REGULATED UTILITY.
