Veterinarians
Before I start this, let me say 2 things. I've used this emergency vet before, and every other vet we've dealt with there was absolutely wonderful, and we never had any issues. Secondly, they did take good care of my dog, and she's doing much better this morning. Unfortunately, behavior of the vet I saw last night, Dr. Chad Dolly, was deplorable.
While I sat in the exam room, I could hear him in the back making nasty remarks about myself and the 2 other people that were there. He asked the vet tech to go out front and get woman that owned a dog, and when she asked which woman, he replied, "the fat pig, not the skinny one." He referred to me as "a nice a**, but that's about all she has going for her," and made several statements implying that the man that was there was a drug addict. Obviously, this vet had no idea that everything he said could clearly be heard in the exam rooms.
When they came out and presented me with a $700.00 estimate of what it would cost to determine the problem with my dog, I had a few concerns. The estimate included several different kinds of blood work, 8 x-rays, 4 injections, and $100 for take home medication. I asked the vet tech if we could do the blood work first, and then, if that came back ok, then run the x-rays. I didn't want to pay for a ton of tests that my dog may not need and stress the sick pup out any more than necessary. She went back to ask the vet if this would be acceptable, and I overheard him reply:"This is not a negotiation. Who the f*** does she think she is? I'm the doctor, I make the decisions. Just another person who doesn't care about their dog. "
Unfortunately, since this is the only emergency vet for miles, I'm stuck using them for any after-hours issues. But if there was another option available, I would never go back there.
