Above basically described the workmanship. John seemed knowledgeable and honest. At least 8 times he said he was coming and did not show up. Sometimes an excuse sometimes he just didn't come. The key issue was he was not upfront with the fact that he was doing this as an extra job. He had a regular job that he was working during the week. I had to have another contractor come in to fix all his mistakes. Fixing the drywall work Fixing the electrical and moving some of the outlets from inside the cabinets. Replacing the oversink lighting that had not been secured. Fixing the incabinet lighting. When the tile people came to do the backsplash he immediately commented that the floor was installed incorrectly and it looked like it was ready to buckle! (the tile people also are flooring people) There is also an issue where the new floor meets the old floor - there is a gap which it is still uncertain how it is going to be remedied. Also the refrigerator icemaker was never hooked up - he got the wrong connector but never got the correct one Cabinetry on side of refrigerator was incorrectly installed. It did not match up at the bottom with the rest of the cabinetry. There was an issue where a wall was installed and needed to be removed because of inaccessibility of drawers by the wall oven. He seemed to say this was a huge issue but unfortunately it had to be done to allow the drawers to open. He never did the drywall work after the wall was removed and the cabinets moved back The new contractor had to put the molding around the island, the peninsula, and repair what was already in. There is a variation in height between the new floor and the old and the new contractor had to put in the transition piece. John had said that this was not the type of work that he does and that he has letters - not sure why he felt the need to do a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL job at my expense. He then said that it would be better if someone else finished the job! We only had less than $500 owed him but he felt that I should pay it as he had done some much extra work! John was unprofessional; never came on time; never communicated what he was going to finish (although when he said he would complete a project by a certain time he never did); was not upfront on how the job was going to be handled; did not communicate effectively with the designer. We are still in the process of finishing up the kitchen and it is the end of September, all of which should have been completed in August.
Description of Work: Kitchen Remodel based on specs provided by Interior Designer Tear out was completed in June. Left wood base molding out on side of house - was planning to reuse for completion Received upfront money to do tear out and installation of floor. Wood flooring was originally being put in in wrong direction - also was the wrong color. Had to personally go to the dealer to get the correct flooring ordered. Was told it was due to come in 5 days which was Friday (29th of June). Cabinets were due in on 2 July. Absolutely no word from the contractor. Did not hear from him until a week later. He went on vacation! Ca. 9 July worker showed up with flooring to install. There was no seasoning of the wood floor to the house. Cabinets did come in on 2 July and I ended up having to have them stored in the garage since I got no response from the contractor. From the period of June until the middle of August he did minimal work and disappeard again - after receiving his second draw. Will just provide the results: -Pantry buildout was boxed in and mud work was not completed. -cooktop installed without using the buffer rubber that was included. -Sink was installed unevenly and was nearly an issue with the counter installation crew -Faucet - single - was installed with the rectangular base and he did not remove the spacers so each side of the base was not in contact with the counter top -Cabinet where sink was installed had a slice on the side where they did not professionally do the cut out for the sink -Electrical outlets installed in the island were worked through the cabinets using regular sized boxes. There was a 2" empty area behind these cabinets which should have been used for the wiring and at least one of the boxes. -In cabinet lighting was left unfinished when all that was needed was to tack the wiring out of view. -Island wiring to the outlets and the wine cooler was not connected and left in the basement - was cut too short. -No consideration to color matching with the switch plates. Put a beige outlet in a black cabinet. Also to top that off one of his last things was to put a beige outlet cover on a white outlet!

. The only items completed were the tear out Removal of wall and installation of beam between two rooms Pantry was built but drywall work was not completed Electrical was partially installed except for the island outlets and wine cooler - line was cut too short and left in crawl space in basement Hood was installed Over half of the drywall was never completed - nothing was done after they had to move the cabinets. Knee wall was built between the two rooms and because of mismeasurement the wall had to be removed. Wood flooring was incorrectly installed - first time it was started to be laid incorrectly and the wrong flooring was used. The contractor was given a sample of the flooring and also the vendor for the product. I had to personally go and verify the correct flooring. Cabinets were installed. Sink was installed incorrectly nearly caused an issue with the installation of the granite counter tops All knobs were not in so this could not be completed Lighting was not completed, cabinetry lighting was left undone Refrigerator icemaker was not connected, line for the dishwasher was incorrectly placed. Wall oven and Microwave was correct. Am currently having a different contractor repair all the mistakes and fix issues created by John Jenkins from Grizzley Custom Builders.
