Hoppe Tree Service

I spoke with August Hoppe. They have trimmed a 40' silver maple before. They trimmed the branches off of my neighbors property, they did some gutter cleaning, and they came out again yesterday for this estimate. August is very pleasant, professional, and easy to work with. I have been very pleased with their work in the past, and I expect nothing less going forward.

They gave the best estimate. They do the best work, and work quickly.

They did an excellent job! They were efficient, they came when they said they were going to, and they were able to take off a lot of branches. They cleaned up after themselves.

The first time we called, he came out and looked at the trees on the lot and answered questions. The estimates were specific about the price of each piece, so if I decided one item wasn't worth it, I knew how much the rest would cost. They follow up annually - mail a reminder. Good at explaining what will be done and why.

Even though Hoppe Tree Service came and did the estimate, we still had further questions and experienced much frustration trying to get them to respond back to us. Everytime we called we had to leave a voicemail message and they would not return our calls! We had to call repeatedly and even used Angie's list as leverage to get them to repond back. Two weeks went by and they finally came out to answer our questions and we agreed to have the service done. At this time Fred told us, August would contact us to schedule the service appointment. Well, we have received NO call for scheduling and it has been a week now. We have since contacted another tree service company and have made all the arrangements with the other company to have our tree pruned in less time than it took Hoppe to even respond to our phone calls.

Everything worked out fine in the end, but it did take repeated effort. I had to make two contacts (via email) to get the work scheduled. I worked from home the day of the work so that I could pay at the time of service, but no one collected. The work that was done on the first trip was not complete, so a follow-up appointment was needed a few days after the first. The follow-up was done promptly and professionally, and communication about it was excellent. After the work was done I didn't receive a bill. I called to ask for one, and was told an invoice would be sent. However, it took a second contact (via email) before I actually received an invoice to pay (six weeks after the original service). As I said, the work was fine. But I felt like I needed to do too much follow-up to get it scheduled and to pay the bill.

I needed to have some branches removed as they were touching/scraping the garage roof. I got an estimate and asked them to come around whenever they could fit the job in. About a week later they came around and did the job exactly as requested.

They come with a whole crew and take care of all the trees. We have a lot on our lot. They let you know which ones need trimmed and which ones don't. They also diagnose trees if they look sick. They make sure everything is healthy and safe. They cut up the pieces so they are sized right for firewood this way we can use it. They are also reasonably priced.

Got a great price from them at the NARI Home Improvement Show (1/2 the price others quoted me at the show). They came out and quickly (and safely) removed the trees. After the snow melted, there was very little damage to the lawn (just a few divots from falling branches).

Our neighbor and I use them and the driveway has been cleared this snowy season.

The service was excellent. They responded punctually to my request, arrived at the scheduled time, and performed the work per the estimate in a quick and timely manner. They also cleaned the area when finished and removed all the debris. As a result of their excellent service, I have recommended them to friends, and I am having them return to do another project.

We have used them twice. We used them the first time for trimming a big maple that we had in front of our house. We also had a big branch that looked like it was splitting. We had them come back out a second time to take care of that and also trim the tree. Our experience with them was excellent. We don?t even have to be home when they come and do the work. Everything looked good and the yard was cleaned up. We got the invoice in the mail. It was pretty easy. They were reasonably priced too.

He provides excellent service and always calls to remind if we forget about having the gutters cleaned. He also offers discounts to Angie's List members.

He responded right away, but said that he was booked solid and apologized. He was very polite and friendly. I will call him sooner next year.

We were dissatisfied with their service. He took out one of the pine trees that we had in the front yard, which was good. However, without asking us he had trimmed off a whole bunch of branches off of the other pine trees that were close to it. It looked so bad that we had to have it all taken out. We had them plant other trees and other pine trees. I think the trees that he picked out for us were not very good. They planted really high and it shouldn?t be because it is a pine tree. It should be down on the ground, and I don?t think it was a very good job at all.

We have a gutter that is very high. So, we didn?t have a ladder that was tall enough. So, Hoppe Tree Service cleaned that gutter for us. We like to use them because they are reasonable and they are very prompt. They do a good job. They cleaned the gutter very well. They were very courteous. We weren?t around when they came out. Their price was very good. They came out within a few days. They were very professional over the phone.

They never called me back! Hard to get business when you don't call your customers back.

I'm not completely satisfied because some of the pieces had very loose grain (which usually happens in a tree that is not healthy). Generally the wood was rather dirty and was not first rate. I called and talked to him about it, and he said he would come and look at it, but I told him that it wasn't necessary. Next time I will go out and look at the wood so I know what I will be getting.

Fred Hoppe came to my house within two days of my initial call to give me an estimate. He was knowledgeable and easy to talk with. Overall, the consultation took about 10 minutes and the quote given was very reasonable. I decided to go with the service and received a call 3 days before the service was to be performed. They arrived exactly when they said they would, did a great job, and cleaned everything up better than I expected. The service was excellent.

One person arrived before the appointment time which was nice for me. He climbed the tree like a monkey(I was very impressed) and trimmed branches quickly. The other person arrived shortly after and started hauling. Both of them were very polite and answered any question I asked. They did not have chipper at that time, but brought wood chips later as promised.

Contacted Hoppe Tree Service along with 3 others for an estimate. All were responsive but Hoppes had a receptionist to answer calls and set up appointments. August Hoppe was the first to come out and walk with us through our wooded lot to see what work needed to be done. He offered insight into our tree management but did not push for more work than what we had considered. He offered a detailed estimate so we could eliminate some things if it got too expensive. He also gave the Angie's discount. After talking with the other tree services, we asked Hoppe to come out again to clarify things in the pricing and what would be done. He always promptly returned our calls. We set the date for the work and the crew arrived right on schedule. His group finished in one morning what others thought may take most of the day. Hoppe was there to supervise and help. All workers were professional and worked heartily. Because our lot is very wooded it was a bit more challenging to approach some trees and not disrupt other landscaping.. Being fall, we weren't as concerned about some annual flower beds. Clean-up was to our satisfaction and we were very happy with the work.

Fantastic. They came on time, did what was expected, cleaned up as expected and did no damage to either property. They also worked out the schedule with WE Energies and worked in concert with them on the job site. WE Energies had to come at the beginning and then again part way through the project.

In general I was satisfied with the work. There was a week delay in removing wood due to unavailability of equipment but this was not a problem for me. I was very pleased with the cost which I think was quite fair. The only issure I would raise was a somewhat less than neat clean up..a little attention to that process and I think this outfit is just fine. I would recommend them and ask them to return if needed.

They are always very good. I like that I can always call them right back out if I find something that they did not do or something that they missed throughout the service. I think that the prices are pretty fair for the work.
