On Saturday, October 19 we accepted a quote on the windows and they measured for the windows. It took the manufacturer about three weeks to get the windows here, and Chris's team installed them a few days later. They showed up when they said they would, and they left the job site in perfect shape; other than the new windows, there was no sign they'd been there at all.
The windows vinyl double hung and are in the Innovation series. They're significantly nicer than some other replacement windows that were installed before we got the house.
Up to a certain size, there was a fixed price per window of $545, including installation. There's a $60 Angie's List discount if you get at least five windows, and we paid an extra $20 per window to get screens that are the full height of the windows (so you can open the top as well as the bottom).
All in all, the job went exactly as we hoped it would. We're planning to replace the windows in the other apartment unit and will definitely go with Chris again.
"We thank [removed member name] for all his kind remarks and we appreciate the new business and the trust in our company. Thank you."
"[accepted SP response] is a great person and a pleasure working with and we really appreciate her kind words."
"We were very glad we could help and give [removed members name] confidence in her windows"
I submitted an online request for an estimate on his website and Chris responded immediately by e-mail. He came out promptly, was flexible with my work schedule and answered questions honestly. He took measurements and e-mailed an estimate within a few days. The estimate was less than other 4 estimates and I was given a discount for using Angie's List. When I confirmed that I would like to go ahead with the job he brought out one of his workers to take measurements again and I was told windows would come in a month. The windows came early and they were installed within about 3 weeks. Chris then came out to show me how the windows work. He went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy when I wanted to make a change after they were installed due to an oversight on my part. He agreed to do this at no charge when he installs the second half of the windows. From start to finish, Chris was very nice to work with, professional and courteous. I'll definitely call him to install the second half of my windows and entry door replacement and refer him to others.
"Therese was great to work with and it was a pleasure working for her. We really appreciate the kind words and we really appreciate the business and trust."
When Chris committed to replace the sliding door at his cost we were really impressed and very appreciative. The final result has been great. The problematic door is gone and we have a replacement door that looks great and works perfectly.
I did not know Chris Jordan before calling him for an estimate for window and door replacement. He was not referred to me as a trusted word of mouth get it done at a good price guy so I have no personal interest in endorsing his work. I have not been paid anything for these comments here or elsewhere.
Unless of course his performance deserves endorsement!
Based on my personal experience, I highly recommend, endorse and praise Jordan Exteriors because they went the extra mile to make the $8,000 we invested in our house meaningful and valuable. Chris looked after us and stood by his work.
What more can any of us ask from any contractor?
I am so delighted - I am happy to endorse his work. My cell number is Six 0 Eight 334 Four 012
Thanks for reading.
"I don't know what to say but a heartfelt thank you to [member name removed] and his family. It is a shame that a recognized multi million dollar company won't stand by their product but we could not and would not let our customer suffer as a result and it was a pleasure working for [member name removed] and his family. We believe that we must have a standard of ethics that goes beyond monetary income and when problems arise as a result of our reccomendations we must make it good. Needless to say we do not use the patio door company anymore and our supplier has since dropped their products as the Patio door company does not meet our standards. regards Chris Jordan"
I had worked with Chris Jordan before (with Rodriguez Quality Roofing) and liked him alot, so when he came in with a good offer for the windows, I was glad. Prior to actually deciding to replace the windows, I had done a lot of research on window brands on the Internet and had decided I liked Innovations windows. Imagine my delight to discover this was the brand of windows Chris recommended as well. He had no idea I already had a preference. But, of course, I am never that easy. The company doesn't have a lot of detailed information on their website (certainly not enough for me, who usually likes to download manufacturer's installation and repair manuals for everything), so he tracked down what he could for me. He also had some sample windows so I could open and close them and poke around them for myself. I am not very strong and I'm very short, so it was important to me that these be windows that I could easily move by myself and tilt out for cleaning. I have lived in places where I had a hard time with windows that my husband and friends could handle fine. I started asking about the windows in November (I always plan many months in advance) and Chris was figuring out how to be ready in December or January. Talk about prompt! However, I wanted to wait until March. Chris was fine with that - no pressure for me to get it done on any schedule other than my own.
The people he has doing the windows are a very pleasant, polite, and prompt bunch. I was surprised at how little I had to move out of the way for them ahead of time. They didn't mar any of the window casings and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. They got the double-hung and awning windows done in one day! When something looked odd in the window, Chris checked it out and was going to fix it or replace it, but it fixed itself in a day (the weather stripping had been bent in shipping somehow, but it straightened out on its own once it got to room temperature in my house).
The big bay windows were scheduled for a different day because those required a lot more work to install. The old ones had to be removed to the studs. I had taken down the casings for the living room windows because they were stained walnut color (40 years ago) and our current wood floors are honey oak color. My husband wanted casings to match the floor and baseboards, and I agreed. I mentioned this to Chris and one of his workers only to explain why the casings were missing when they came to do a final measure for the windows. They offered to bring the same type and size of oak casing to replace the other ones. They would have finished them, too, but I wanted to do them myself at the same time I stained the bay window top and bottom so they would match for sure. And I'm anal-retentive. :) And I always put more coats of polyurethane on than anybody else and I didn't want to be any more inconvenient than I already was. When they arrived to install the bay windows, they had brought the oak casing. When I put them up after staining and my three coats of polyurethane (including on the back), they fit just right. I had assumed there would be a charge for this, but there wasn't. That was a *very* nice thing they did for me, saving me the trouble of doing it myself (I have done casings before for windows and doors, so I know how, but it is inconvenient).
Chris Jordan has checked back with me to see if I'm satisfied with the windows, and I certainly am! The only quibble I have is with the manufacturer of the windows, *not* with Chris or his crew. When the company manufactures the bay windows and you want wood for the top and bottom "shelf" areas, they put oak veneer on, which is nice, but they don't also put veneer over the front-facing edges, so you see the plywood and insulation layers. That would be fine, because most of it is covered by the window casing (which is why you have casing to begin with). However, window casing is always offset from the inside edge of the window by some small amount (the "reveal"), like 1/8 of an inch, so you can still see the edge of the plywood. I'm sure nobody would ever notice it but me. My husband certainly didn't notice. Yes, I'm picky. I know it. So, what I did was take oak veneer and apply it to the front edges (and stain it to match) before putting the casing on. I mentioned I had done this to Chris, and he asked me if I would mind if he contacted the manufacturer about it. I was impressed that Chris followed up on this remark I had made (not intending to ask him to do anything about it, just a remark about the manufacturer, that's all).
So, at the end of this long novel, I am quite happy with Chris Jordan and Jordan Exteriors! My house's exteriors are pretty much done for a while (roof and windows). It's going to take me a long while to save up for replacing our old deck. Too bad he doesn't do interiors. Hmmmm, I wonder if he does security storm doors...
"The member is a fantastic customer and it was a pleasure chatting with her and working for her."
"I want to thank [Member Name Removed] and his wife for their kind words. It was a pleasure working for them."
Jordan Exteriors is a company I will recommend to my friends and continue to use for any work in their areas of expertise.
"(member name removed) has been a pleasure to work with and we are very grateful for the kind words."
I was interested in a real wood door, but knew the pitfalls in the Midwest with climate fluctuations... HGI have steel or fiberglass doors available with a wood grain finish. I was skeptical how they would look in real life... the last thing I wanted was cheap looking doors because I wanted them to look like wood... if they were going to look cheap I'd have rather done a simple painted steel door.
When I raised my concern to Chris he acted like it was no problem at all... one phone call and a week later and I had a physical sample of the wood finish available... Chris gets it done and I ordered the doors with the wood grain finish.
The doors took exactly 6 weeks, as Chris had said... they were at my house and installed within 2 days of arrival to Chris' team.
We decided on one each... front door in Craftsman Series Fiberglass with Walnut Finish and rear door in Half-Lite Steel Door in walnut finish. This is important... both doors have been mistaken for real wood by multiple people, including sub-contractors!
Dan and Lester were at our house for only one day and installed both doors... Amish craftsman are the best to deal with... they complete the work as if it is their own home. They left the area around their workspace in better condition than when they arrived and the quality of their work is obvious.
I was crossing my fingers the doors would meet my expectations... they have exceeded what I thought was possible for a faux wood door... I'd do it exactly the same way all over again if given the option.
If you want to invest in your home and not throw money away on contractors that don't have your best interests in mind... call Chris Jordan.
If you want to be jerked around and taken advantage of..... Chris is not your guy... he's a pro.
Thanks Chris!
"[removed member name] is a fantastic customer to have worked for and we are very grateful for his kind words."
Chris's bid came to my email within 48 hours... I wish I could say the same from the other two contractors (both of which are on Angie's List... to be fair, I'll keep their names private), though each took nearly 2 weeks to receive their estimates. My impression is that when you're a professional, you can come up with an estimate in a matter of hours, which is exactly what Chris did.
Let me reinforce how superior Chris is with respect to his responsiveness..... HIS WIFE WAS LITERALLY IN LABOR WITH THEIR SECOND CHILD AND I HAD HIS ESTIMATE WITHIN 48 HOURS! WHILE SHE WAS IN LABOR!!
Early to the first appointment and beat his competition by over a week and his wife is in Labor..... again, Chris gets it done!
Arturo and his siding crew are meticulous... as Chris puts it, "he's an artist." Arturo came by with Chris for a consultation before starting the work to make sure the end result was exactly as Chris and I had spoke of. When Arturo arrived to complete the work, they were in and out in less time than estimated... they taped all the insulation seams and caulked around all windows... every single piece of debris from the job was picked up and removed from the jobsite, down to the last nail... they even picked up and removed debris that was not part of the work they'd done. It's very apparent, they take great pride in their reputation! As Arturo put it..... "we're here until it's done." It seemed I wasn't just paying them for their time to be there... I was paying for their work until the job was complete.
The work is done and has exceeded my expectations... they get it done!
"We really appreciate the kind words and M[removed member name] was a pleasure to work with."
As I said, I love my new home. I didn't expect to walk away with new friends from a siding project.
"I cannot express enough gratitude to [member name removed] and [member name removed] and they were an absolute pleasure to work for and working for customers like these really make our job worthwhile. This is a family you would go the extra mile for every time. thank you [member name removed]and [member name removed]"
I also want to thank Angie's List for providing a forum that allowed me to find such an impressive crew with relatively little effort.
"[member name removed] and her sisters are great customers and we enjoyed working for them."
"It was a p[pleasure working with (Member name removed) and we really appreciate the business. Thank you for your kind words"
"[member name removed] was a pleasure to work with and I am sorry that thee was a perceived communication problem. We do strive to get back to everyone within a few hours."
After we committed and the exact measurements were taken, it was less than four weeks until the work was scheduled and completed. Dan, Lester and the rest of the crew were a pleasure to work with?considerate, efficient, conscientious and professional. We are very confident about the quality of their work. Chris was on site for a portion of each of the two work days and his rapport with his professional workers was good to see.
We had an extra small project fixing a portion of roof gutter and shingles which were recently damaged by a fallen branch. Chris managed this project using another party than the window crew but the project was attended to with the same care and detail as the larger window project.
Based on our experience, we would definitely recommend Chris Jordan Xteriors for any of the services they perform.
"We appreciate the kind words [member name removed], glad we could be of some help."
"I am sorry (removed member name) was disappointed. This customer wanted to buy their own windows and have us install them. I explained that we do not install third party windows and that she needed a handy man to do the work and I suggested looking on Angie's List to find one. We offer a high level of service and we choose the best products for our clients and stand by those products. We did not perform any work for this customer nor did we give this customer any pricing. We arrived at the home early for the appointment and left as friends. regards Chris Jordan"
