Outstanding! Several neighbors followed our lead and used Piala's. They were camped out in our drive for an entire month of hard - but beautiful - work!!

Delivered stone base and the soil-compost mixture in December 2011. Everything went smoothly. Warm March in Wisconsin lead to the growing of weeds in all five beds. All plants looked the same so it can be assumed  they were in the soil/compost mixture. After sending pictures to Pialas of not only the weeds but the wire, plastic pieces and large rocks in the mixture they sent someone to look at the problem. Then subsequently one of the owners came to our hour with their dirt supplier who tried to explain away the problems as typical. Pialas offered to weed the garden, rototill, look for more miscellaneous debris and then add compost to replace the nutrients stolen by the weeds. After 3-4 weeks the weeds were so large and going to seed, we manually weeded. Following a 2 inch rainfall, Pialas shows up (unannounced) to rototill. The workers could not rototill the wet soil so they manually turned over the soil with hoes and added the compost. I  Goggled rototilling wet soil and to a site the advice was "Never Rototill your garden when the ground is wet." "Tilling wet soil will severely compact it and create clods that are hard to break".  I called the project manger who couldn't understand why we would be so upset. They agreed to finish what they were doing tonight and come back later in the week and Rototill the beds after things dried out... So we can't plant and who knows what the next play by these buffoons will be.
They returned, rototilled and basically we are finding all types of junk and the top of the soil is a series of small clay balls instead of big clumps. What is really disappointing is that we selected Pialas at hundreds of dollars over other bidders because we thought they would deliver. I guess we should have spoken to a few neighbors earlier as they seem to have similar experiences.. Pialas is a company on the skids only they do not know it.
Response from PIALAS NURSERY & GARDEN SHOP INC
"Dear[member's name removed], we apologize for the inconvenience regarding the topsoil. Please note, due to the quality issue regarding your soil, our entire company changed who/how we procure soil. Unfortunately, quality problems can occur, and we took action to prevent this from happening again. We provided additional labor and materials, at our expense, to remedy the problem. We are very happy that you have continued to be a regular customer at our nursery over the past several years, and we look forward to your next visit. Most Sincerely, Piala's Nursery."

I was a little dissappionted that it had more rocks in it than I expected as I was used this to plant new grass seed. , but the service people were helpful, friendly and prompt. I expected a little better quality for the price.

They managed everything with the project. They were able to show us the plants they would be using and they gave us a good idea of what stone they would use for the patio. They got the work done in the time they communicated. The communication at times was a little difficult.
