We've been a family owned business installing fences in the Milwaukee area since 1977. We don't use any subs and our crew has several years of experience working for us. Every board we use to build our fences are milled in house to give you thicker boards that are stronger and last longer. Description of Work: They installed pool fencing and yard fencing. 3 different types of materials were used and they were very helpful in suggesting the most affordable materials. We had contacted several vendors of which many didn't call back. A-1 was very responsive from beginning to end of project. The lead contractor on-site was professional, friendly and very accommodating! Job site was always clean when they left for the day.

Description of Work: Built a fence attaching my home to my neighbor's new fence, also built by A-1. |they did a very nice job, except they did not ask us if we wanted the two fences to physically connect. We assumed they would, but A-1 built each fence as two separate jobs, even though each was done at the same time. Better communication, or a simple question asked would have allowed us to save the work of digging an extra post or two, and allowing the fences to connect, instead of just abut eachother.

Description of Work: This fence was installed just prior to the first snow fall of 2013/14. One gate was installed incorrectly (hinged on the wrong side) and another was hung crooked. I was told that they would be back out in spring to make corrections. They never showed, so I did it myself.

Description of Work: A-1 put in a small backyard fence for us to keep our little ones from running down the driveway. They were VERY quick to provide a quote (as in, on the spot), and I appreciated the discussion we were able to have (over several iterations of our vision) with Brent. I thought we were going to have to wait 4-6 weeks, but they were able to squeeze us in the following week - so we get to enjoy our new fence all summer.

Description of Work: A-1 provided us a free, at-home estimate for a new fence in our backyard. The first meeting lasted about 1 hour and ended with an estimate in my hands (another reputable fencing co. took 2 weeks to provide an estimate after its visit). A-1 then provided multiple subsequent estimates as I changed my mind on fence height and design style. Once installation was scheduled, A-1 came on time and was prompt. Staff was couteous and helped me manage through options for a potential tree location issue. A-1 ran into a slight delay completing one gate on my project but then provided an adorable make-good that my kids love. They are great to work with. Only nit is that after the initial visit and receipt of the estimate, it would take a few days and phone calls to hear back from them. While this normally would be a deal-breaker for me, I got the impression is was due to work-load issues vs. lack of responsiveness. In this case, I am glad I overlooked the few days delay in returning calls, as they were great to work with and I would do so again.

EXCELLENT QUALITY OF MATERIALS USED. THE PICKETS ARE APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES IN DEPTH, AS COMPARED TO THE 1/2 INCH DEPTH FOUND AT DO IT YOURSELF STORES. THE FENCE IS STURDY, NOT FLIMSY. WORK WAS DONE EFFICIENTLY WITHIN TIME FRAME AGREED ON. EACH PICKET WAS SET BY HAND ALLOWING FOR AN ATTRACTIVE ANGLE THAT FOLLOWS THE SLOPE OF LOT, AS COMPARED TO THE FULL PANEL BLOCK STYLE. PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN OTHER INSTALLERS, BUT QUALITY OF WOOD ABSOLUTELY WAS WORTH IT. HARD WORKING INSTALLERS, PROFESSIONAL. 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON FENCING, 1 YEAR WARRANTY ON GATES.
Description of Work: INSTALLED 4 FOOT HIGH PICKET STYLE FENCE WITH TWO GATES, TOTAL 175 FEET. DUG POST HOLES, (SOME HAD TO BE DUG BY HAND BECAUSE OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES), SET POSTS IN CEMENT, NAILED PICKETS IN PLACE, GATE HARDWARE INCLUDED.

THESE FENCES ARE THE WORK OF TRUE CRAFTSMEN. ALL OF THE WORKERS WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND ATTENTIVE TO DETAIL. WORKERS WERE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE LANDSCAPING AND EVEN REMOVED PLANTS WHEN ASKED. THE WORK IS OF IMPECCABLE QUALITY-- COULDN'T BE BETTER!

OUR FENCE LOOKS GOOD OVERALL. UP CLOSE YOU CAN SEE THE TOPS AND BOTTOMS OF THE BOARDS ARE ROUGH. THE POST DIGGERS AND THE FENCE BUILDERS DID NOT DISRUPT THE LANDSCAPING OR MAKE A MESS. OUR MOST UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WAS WITH OUR CONTACT PERSON. HE SHOWED UP PROMPTLY FOR THE ESTIMATE BUT TOLD US TO DRIVE AROUND WAUWATOSA TO SEE SAMPLES OF THEIR WORK. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THE A-1 LOGO ON THE FENCE, HE TOLD US WE COULD DO WHATEVER WE WANTED BECAUSE IT WAS OUR FENCE NOW. WE REQUESTED NO LOGO BE ATTACHED TO OUR FENCE BUT IT WAS ANYWAY AND WHEN WE TOOK IT DOWN, IT LEFT MARKS IN THE WOOD.
