We were extremely happy with our entire HomeTowne experience.
They were very prompt in setting up an initial site review and estimate for the work. Their prices were reasonable and actually very close to an estimate we had received 5 years ago for the same work. The best part of it all was that their prices for painting/staining the doors and windows were very very very reasonable -- much more so than us trying to do it ourselves.
We scheduled the work for after the first of the year to get an additional discount. The first scheduled dates actually had to be moved for two reasons: 1 - some of our windows were backordered (at no fault of HomeTowne) and the front door arrived with a large scratch in it (again at no fault of HomeTowne) and 2 - it was below zero.
We were able to reschedule for early February, which was no problem for us.
We sent over paint codes for the exterior and they realized that one of the colors seemed to be coming out more yellow than our house, so they made a trip over to get another sample and get a new paint mix to make sure it matched perfectly.
Come installation week, we found the installers to be incredibly courteous and professional. They did a great job of minimizing the mess as well - not an easy task in winter.
We are extremely happy with all of the work that was done and would highly recommend HomeTowne to anyone else looking to do similar work!

Price: No haggle clear competitive price. Clearly explains and divide price, rather then lumpsump total. No gimmick.
Installation. They have teams who work together. Not the best but still very good team work. I can see minor conflicts from my end.
All staff courtious, reliable and professional.
Cons:
Your presence at the time of installation does makes difference. Otherwise finishing, caulking, alignment etc may not be perfect. They need to be self motivated for these things.

They are excellent. They are courteous and their work is near to perfection, both interior and exterior work. They clean up after they are gone and I don’t even know they were there. They are here on time.

This is the 3rd time that I am using Hometowne as they do such a wonderful job. Jim is especially easy to work with.
We have an old home on the east side of Milwaukee and after last winter we decided to get new windows in the living room and library. The previous year we had a window seat rebuilt along with a side door and side window. We really like the attention to the detail and respect for the history of the house that Hometown has. So after that project we signed up for windows on the 2nd and once they were done last April decided to pretty much finish the house by replacing the downstairs living room and library windows.
These windows needed to be stained and the Hometowne team did a great job of matching the sample that we gave them. Also Jim helped us decide what type of windows would work best. We decided to basically replace the double hung windows with double hung windows. We made an exception for the front window in the living room where we installed 2 casements and the central window was fixed. So the basic look of the original windows was preserved. The outside of the all the windows were wrapped in aluminum to make them maintenance free.
The team that installs the windows were there as promised around 8:30AM. They laid down drop cloths and plastic to project the rooms. When they were done they did an excellent job cleaning up.
We only have a couple of windows left in the house to do and when we are ready, we will be calling Hometowne again.

Everything was fine, I have no complaints. They did a great job all the way around, inside, outside, clean up, install, everything you want to say about them was fine. I have no complaints. I would highly recommend them, they are very professional. Even the person that comes out to do the estimating to the install guys. They use their own guys, they are very professional all the way around. What more can you ask for in a contractor? They do what they are supposed to and they do it right. If there is something that is not right, they make it right.

We were very impressed with the quality of service and the product (Softlite). The price was competitive with other quotes we received but without the sleezy salesman vibe - bonus! Jim did not try to upsell us or convince us to do other work in the house when we told him we only wanted to proceed with the one window. He came back and remeasured for accuracy, then helped us match the exterior color, as well. The window looks and works great!

I worked with Bob from HomeTowne through the entire process (screening, pricing, installation, follow up) and it could not have gone smoother. He was very responsive to everything we wanted and was willing to spend time with us to answer any questions we had. It was a 2-3 day project because we had so many windows (replaced the whole house + patio door) and the team was there on time each day. Everyone was very aware of mess and clean up in and around the house during and after the process which I appreciated. A few months after installation we noticed a picture window was not locking properly. I called Bob to discuss and he had someone out the next day to fix at no charge.
Overall great experience and I would definitely work with them again.

It went very well. Everything was cleaned up and everything was fine. They showed us how to work the windows. There's one thing that they have to come back on in the Spring but that is all ready.

It was a completely professional and pleasant experience, no hard sell, and the man (forget his name, sorry) was very friendly and free with advice without any pressure. We visited the showroom and he came out and talked us through several options. We did not end up using this company because they were so popular we would have had to wait months for installation. However, we ended up making a decision on windows based on the advice given.

I'm not happy that I had air rushing in, around these windows for 2 weeks before the repairs. This is the middle of winter.

We purchased windows for a bedroom and had difficulty matching the stain of the wood. Home Towne found an exact match and did an excellent job! Really, really nice looking.
Job was on time and done well. No problems since. We had other windows replaced by other companies and did not have a great experience.

Bob Dietz followed up on all of his appointments to arrange the service. The installation went very quickly and smoothly. Workmen were courteous and did a good job of cleaning up. They took extra care to not trample the flowers around the windows, too.

Excellent service from quote to installation. Knowledgeable, friendly, timely, and price competitive. I will use again and recommend to anyone looking for window installation. I had 3 other quotes from the 3 major window brands that told me I could not get a bay window put in to the existing opening without major renovation, however, HomeTowne had no problem and did excellent work. I highly recommend.

The add on Angie's List says, Free Estimates - yes. It also said, Service area - southeast WI. I live in East Troy. When I called, they said, "that's quit a haul for just one or two window's". They wanted to charge me a travel fee and the total estimated over-the-phone price for 2 small basement windows and travel fee would be ~ $1200.00.

"It is unfortunate that [member name removed] felt that she needed to grade us the way she did. We take all of our customers' input very seriously. I do feel however, that given the "grade" we received, there should be some clarification as to the circumstances of her interaction with HomeTowne Windows. I do want to state that this "review" stems from a phone call only and seems a bit unfair. We have never met [member name removed], seen the home or the leaking window, nor were we asked to. About two weeks ago, [member name removed] contacted us regarding a basement window that she said was leaking. She was not sure if it could be repaired or be replaced. I did a follow up call and she stated that she thought she had found someone to take care of the problem. Yesterday, I received a second call from her asking about the same window. She did not ask for an in home consultation (which are free), but asked the cost of replacing one and then perhaps two basement windows. She asked if there was a trip charge to drive to East Troy for one window. I said "yes" and that this was to cover gas and travel time. She then asked what the price would be. I gave her a ballpark estimate as I would anyone who called in for a price. Until I see the project, I cannot give an accurate to the dollar quote. I am sorry if she felt our pricing was too high. I would refer to the other posts on this site giving us "A" or "B" for our pricing. As for telling her about the "trip charge", I felt that I was being honest with her. We try to be up front with our customers and give them a fair and honest price. I suppose I could have lied to her and said "no', but that is not how we do business. Again, I am sorry that we did not give [member name removed] the answers she wanted. She seems to be having difficulty with this window and I am sure it is a nuisance for her. Plus, it seems that she is apparently having trouble finding someone in East Troy. As for the phone conversation, if I were to do it again, I would not change a thing. We treat our customers with honesty and respect and I will not lie to them merely to sign a job. A "review" like this bothers me like you can't believe-especially given that we have never seen the job. Home Town has Pella, Marvin, and Anderson windows to choose from. They explained the differences of each and we made a number of visits to their store before we determined the best window for us. Their installers were professional, took away the old windows and cleaned up any mess. Price was better than quoted from the manufactuer. Recommended to our daughter, who then purchased their windows there.

We purchased ten windows from HomeTowne last spring and called them to install three more in November. What a wonderful experience. They come out to measure to ensure accuracy, schedule an appointment, and show up on time, and then finish their work promptly and neatly. We're rarely been so pleased with a company from start to finish. They're wonderful.
