I called to schedule the estimate and spoke to Vito Schwartz's wife who has a wonderful personality and was very helpful. Vito showed up on time and climbed up on the roof to see the damage. He could have charged us to do work but said the holes were small and plugged and of no great concern and should last several years, possibly until reshingling is necessary and all we need to do is keep an eye on them for any failing.

I spent around $350 on the job. They did a really good job and they were very professional and thorough. He took pictures and videos before he did the repair to show me what was wrong as well as after he did the repair to show me what he had fixed and how he has fixed it. He also took the time to go over the roof to make sure there no other issue with it. The price was a little higher, but for the way he explained things to me and also because I trusted him, I think it was worth it for me.

Semper Fi Roofing was one of 8 roofing companies that I contacted in November for an estimate on a new roof for my 1925 house. Of the 6 companies that gave me estimates only 2, one of which was Semper Fi, requested to see the attic and actually climbed into it to examine the roof also from the inside. Vito took over 2.5 hours of his time to answer my questions and explain to me anything I didn't understand. We discussed roof ventilation in length and he made me aware that because of the complexity of my roof adequate roof ventilation underneath the whole roof would not be possible without major expenses and that therefore the lifetime shingle warranties that shingle manufacturers offer would not make much sense for me. From my experience with Semper Fi I sensed that Vito had a genuine interest in giving me the best roof possible for my house that he and his crew would be doing an excellent job. In the end it was between Semper Fi and one other competitor with whom I had the same positive experience. It was a very tough decision to make and I only chose the competitor because they appeared to have more experience in rubber roofing. The estimates of both companies were very comparable and on the lower side compared with the other estimates I received. If I needed a new roof again (I hope not) I would definitely contact Vito again.

We really respected the input during the visit for the quote. Vito was very honest and up front about some of the items we were thinking of doing. Once we decided on Semper Fi, Vito came out and we signed the contract and picked colors. We scheduled a start date and about two days before the start date, Sarah his wife called to say they would be out. We had to change the date by a couple of days because we were not done with the exterior painting. They were very flexible and come on on the date agreed upon. They showed up around 7:00am and started to work. They layed down tarps and were very careful with the flower beds. They tore off the roof and finished within two days. They started the facia and soffit and got that done in one day. The gutters were done another day. They did an awesome job.

We didn't go with Semper Fi, nothing specific they did wrong. Our neighbors raved about the job they did on their house but the company we went with just worked harder to get our business. If I had another roof to do I would call Vito again to bid the job. ($11,900.00)

They did an excellent job. They postponed things a couple of times, but I guess that was due to the weather conditions, and when they showed up they did an excellent clean-up. They came back afterwards to fix a couple of little mistakes, and I was overall extremely satisfied with the way that it turned out. I felt really good with the price too.

I chose Semper Fi because it was a small company and Vito was very personable. It snowed the day they were supposed to start the job and we went out of town the next day. When we returned two days later, on a Saturday, the dumpster was parked in front of the garage, so I couldn't get to my car and my yard was strewn with debris. I called and Vito was out of town so his wife had to arrange for a rental car and get a worker to clean our yard. The crew returned on Monday and completed the job the next day. I was promised ridge vents on all the dormers and two weren't done. The workers also weren't very careful as they broke one of our bird feeders and trampled my wife's gardens and smashed a metal trellis. Vito returned and he installed the ridge vents and the deicer cables that were partially installed by the workers. He did not comment about the broken items or the trampled plants nor offer to take money off our bill.

"THERE WERE SOME PROBLEMS THAT CAME UP IN COMPLETING THE WORK THAT WAS DONE ON THIS CUSTOMERS HOUSE. ROOFING IN ITSELF IS NOT THE CLEANEST JOB.WE TRY EXTREMELY HARD TO KEEP THE JOB SITE AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. THIS CUSTOMER CAME HOME AND CALLED ME AT 8:30PM TO LET ME KNOW THAT HIS CAR WAS BLOCKED IN AND THAT THERE WAS SOME GARBAGE ON HIS YARD. I ARRANGED FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR HIM THAT EVENING. THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE IDEA OF ME GOING TO GET THE RENTAL CAR OR HAVING ME PAY FOR A CAB SO I PICKED HIM UP AND TOOK HIM TO THE CAR, HAD A WORKER OUT THERE THAT DAY TO PICK UP, AND RETURNED THE CAR TO THE RENTAL AGENCY AND PAID FOR IT FOR HIM. I CAN ONLY SAY THAT I SAW THE CUSTOMER'S GARDENS AND THEY WERE NOT TRAMPLED. WE RESPECT ALL OF OUR CUSTOMER'S PROPERTY AND TRY OUR BEST TO KEEP ALL GARDENS AND BUSHES PROTECTED. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN TEARING OFF AN EXISTING ROOF TO ENSURE THAT NO ROOF DEBRIS WILL HIT ANY GARDEN AROUND THE HOUSE. THESE GARDENS LOOKED JUST FINE WHEN I WAS THERE TO RETURN THE RENTAL CAR. ANY PROBLEMS THAT CAME UP WERE DEALT WITH QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. AT SOME POINT IT JUST SEEMED THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT HAPPY WITH ANY SOLUTIONS. WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZED TO THIS CUSTOMER AND DID EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO MAKE HIM HAPPY. WE RUN OUR JOB SITES IN WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND COURTESY TO OUR CUSTOMER'S PROPERTY."

Team worked hard and completed job in 2.5 days. Complication of exterior part of Chimney being unstable and had to remove. Customer obtained quotes for rebuilding chimney, but Semper Fi owner, Vito, found company to line the walls of chimney from basement and then added rooftop galvanized piping for venting, eliminating need for exterior chimney portion, saving me over $400. Vito also addressed my concerns about some areas that new roof didn't cover as high as old three layers had. He added aluminum trim to cover. Crew did a good job of cleaning up. Vito also left the extra shingles at my request.

They gave a detailed estimate. They explained all that would be done and completed such work. They provided all materials and did a complete clean up when finished. They were careful not to damage the surrounding area (bushes, patio items, landscaping). The work completed was excellent. They beat all other estimates by at least $750.00.

Vito the company owner was great to work with. He was very polite and professional. The price was great we even got a military discount. Vito kept me up to date with everything that was going on. For example, we had some rain come during the time that our roof was getting done. Vito assured me that the roof would not leak. He told me that if there was a problem to give him a call, let him know, and he would take care of it. The clean up job was great, there was no garbage left behind. I am very happy with my new roof and would recommend this company to anyone.
