"We made every effort to make this customer happy, as we always do. I felt this individual was not acting in good faith and simply did not want to pay what was agreed upon even though the work was done correctly and exactly as agreed. Before our crew left she did a complete inspection and made a few suggestions, which our crew fulfilled, even though the requests were beyond what the contract called for. I then, personally went out and inspected the job afterward and confirmed that it was done well. She walked around with me and tried to find mistakes. She said we didn't "do enough" and told me that she didn't think the crew spent "enough time" doing the job. She said she felt they should have at least mowed the lawn - even though that was not a part of our contract. She said she thought it would have been nice, though and it's the least we could have done. So, she said she didn't think the job was worth the agreed upon price and would not pay it. After much discussion, we agreed that I would give her 200.00 off, but that was unfair to us. She owed the full amount and we performed exactly as per the contract, as we always do. I wanted the matter settled, though, so I agreed to the short payment. She then asked me to do another garden project. (Apparently our work wasn't all that objectionable!) I declined to provide a proposal for the new work because I did not trust that she would pay as agreed. I suspect that is why we got this negative review. We did our very best, as we always do, and make every effort to make our customer happy. We make it a practice to act in good faith at all times. This job was no exception."
"Hi [member name removed], Thanks for your response and your A rating. I see that you did not give us an A rating in all catagories, though, and I would regard this as a learning opportunity if you care to provide additional feedback. In any case, thanks again, for choosing to work with East Side Lawn Care. I look forward to working with you again. Rick Halverson"
"Hi [member name removed]. Thanks for the feedback. My apologies, I did not realize that our applicator was not doing the area on the side of your drive. I'm sure he thought that was your neighbor's property, so did not treat it. I hope we can work with you again this year and if so, I will be sure to make the correction. Thanks again for your business and the valuable feedback. I appreciate it and look forward to working with you again in 2015. Rick"
"Hello and thanks for the nice review. We have actually been in business years but the man on the crew that you spoke with was new. His supervisor, Bob has been with us for 5 years. I understand the new man missed cutting down your butterfly bushes - sorry about that. They told me about it afterward and we adjusted the price accordingly. Thanks for being understanding about his oversight. We appreciate your business and hope to have the opportunity to work with you again. Rick"
I explained I needed mine and my neighbors front yards raked because it is our tree that drops in their yard and I usually raked them. We walked along the side of the house and to the backyard. Again said I needed leaf removal of both of those areas as well. Additionally, I needed one last mowing. I was given what I thought was a fair price for the work needing to be done.
After the meeting I received an email with a pdf attachment from Valerie on 11/3/2014 and my mistake was I assumed it outlined the services to be performed. Here is where my mistake came in. I didn't open it.
His crew arrived and my wife greeted them and they said they were scheduled only to do the front yards. My wife explained this to me. I went out to discuss with a crew member and the gentleman said there is now way that was the estimate because "we would lose our a****." I opened the for the first time thinking I could show them here are the services to be completed. It was just a letter saying thanks for the business. No details of services to be provided. I immediately called Rick and got voicemail. My wife followed up with a text and Rick responded saying we never even went to the backyard! However he agreed to do all of the services requested. The crew did a great job.
I emailed Rick on 11/5/2014 stating I thought the crew did great and clearly we've been miscommunicating and would be happy to have him out to review our property for a revised estimate. No response.
His crew arrived again today (11/13/2014) and only did the front yards again. My wife called to tell me this. I immediately emailed Rick discontinuing our service. I tried texting then calling as a follow up, but I got an invalid number message.
In person, RIck was great and seemed very trustworthy. I sold my wife on not needing another estimate because I trusted him and Angie's list.
"[removed member name]. Thanks very much. I'm really glad to hear you're happy with your new lawn! It was a pleasure working with you. Please let me know if I can be of service in the future. Rick Halverson"
"Thanks for your kind comments. It has always been a pleasure to work with you and I look forward to continuing to do so for a long time to come. I, too, wish your neighbors would hire us!"
"[member name removed], Thanks for the feedback. I spoke to the employee who did the work and let him know that this was not acceptable, it did not meet our standards, and that it is not happen again. He is usually a reliable worker but this job looked rushed and I let him know that this type of work will not be tolerated. I am sorry for any inconvenience this caused and I very much appreciate your feedback. It allowed me to make the necessary correction. Thanks again, Rick"
