Vicky Gerard founded Ivana's Trunk in 2003 with the hope of turning her passion for connecting people to elegant objects & their rich history into a career. In 2005, Ms. Gerard's vision grew beyond her small storefront in South Milwaukee, & she expanded her business to a much larger location in Thiesville, where she also began doing Estate Sales & providing Clean-Out services. I do feel that this review is disingenuous especially since Ms. [Member Name Removed] has been a customer for 15 years and could have personally approached me with her concerns. It seems a little petty to call us unprofessional after all those years of friendship and service especially in this forum."

Poorly at best! READ THE FINE PRINT! They are NOT responsible for any items. DO NOT JUST DROP OFF YOUR CONSIGNMENT ITEMS FOR VICKY TO INVENTORY AFTER YOU HAVE LEFT THE STORE Vicky made an appointment to come to the home to determine which items she would sell in her consignment store. Only AFTER she arrived late - having forgotten she made the appointment - she mentioned she typically charges for this service. We took 61 items/sets (packed in boxes with our name on each box as we had been instructed to do) to the store after consulting with about about at good time to do this. We had also provided (on her form) a detailed itemized list of our items only to be informed that is not the way she does it so she'd redo do it when she had the time. Since Vicky did not have the time to do this inventory when we arrived we were instructed to just leave them along with the signed (without selling prices listed) contract. This was a mistake on our part! DO NOT DO THIS. We had no knowledge of the price items would be sold for - or how (as individual pieces vs sets). Because we just left boxes of items for Vicky to inventory when she found the time - which apparently was on 2 different dates a couple of weeks following drop off - not all of our items were listed on our Consignment Agreement. A set of 4 etched glass beer mugs was noted to be 3. Perhaps one got broken at the store because it was fine when we dropped it off. We were not informed of this. A set of 12 embroidered napkins was listed as 6. Not listed at all were: a set of 10 rooster embroidered linen napkins and a Thanksgiving table runner. We had taken photos of every item prior to taking them in so were not depending upon memory. Vicky takes no responsibility for any of this. We picked up our unsold items after the minimum 90 days because this is what was convenient for our winter schedule. We did NOT want to donate our items to Ivana's Trunk by leaving them beyond the 120 days. We learned that it is the seller's responsibility to come gather your items from around the store - and to bring your own boxes and packing materials. Sara, the employee working the day I went in, was extremely helpful with this. I had the photos with me so she had some idea what we were looking for. This was helpful since she recognized a number of the items. (only 6 pieces were sold and this was over the December holiday season). The store is an absolute mess. It proved to be an advantage that I am mobile via wheelchair so I could spot the items placed on lower shelves - many located several layers back from the "aisles" - and Sara could retrieve them. Sara and I spent a over two hours gathering up items. Seven pieces of table linens (totaling $85 sale price) could not be located. Sara said when she had down time (I left the photos and each item is supposedly marked with your seller number - although one of our pitchers had no tag at all on it) she would again look for these items. When I got home and closely looked at the linens (as well as compared them to the photos) that had had my number on them in the store I realized that some of them were not mine! I suspect someone else has gotten credit for my missing items. I waited a month to check with Ivana's Trunk again - giving them plenty of time to look for the missing linens. When I phonedI spoke with Sara. She said she had looked again but found nothing with my number on it. She suggested I call the store a few days later when Vicky would be in, which I did. Vicky's solution was that I come look again - but pointed out that as it says in the contract they are not responsible for any missing items. She assured me that if something should sell within the next couple of weeks (prior to the end of our agreement) she will send us our share of the money. I am not holding my breath... Use Ivana's Trunk Consignment Store with great care and only if you do not care whether or not you are reimbursed for your items.

It was very disappointing. They did not receive checks in a timely manner when they sold items. At the end of the contract my parents went to the store to collect the items that hadn't sold and they could not locate items in the store. The owner didn't return calls when she said she would and quite frankly was hard to contact. The police are involved as well as the media so my parents can receive the money from the sales of their items and to help find the items that cannot be located. Bottom line- I might shop there, but I would NOT consign with this business.

Not good. The owner, Vicky Gerard, has not met the terms and conditions we agreed to in our contract.

1. The consignment period is over and we are still owed money on sales of some of our items.

2. We went to the store and discovered that approximately 1/3 (12 out of 36) of the items we had consigned are now missing from the store floor.

3. When we now try to call Vicky she picks up the phone, but always says there are computer problems and the computer is at a home.  She also says she will look into things for us on the computer and then call us back, but she never calls back. 

4. When Vicky has paid us for sold items, the payments are always late and require us to call to get payment.

Ivana's Trunk performed a total clean out of our old residence.  Vicky, the owner of Ivana's Trunk, and her crew were prompt, courteous and very efficient.  In approximately one and one half days, they properly disposed of the trash that was left in our house (old boards, paint, etc.), boxed up items which were to go to charity and carefully boxed up items that were going to her consignment store for resale. They even provided a dumpster for the trash.  We had a lot left over as we were moving to a smaller condo.  They arrived promptly at 9:00 in the morning and immediately started sorting and boxing up items.  Vicky knew what to take to charity and what would go to her consignment store for resale.  I was very impressed at their efficiency.  They were very organized and polite. After boxing everything up, they loaded their truck with the charity items and dropped them off.  After they were done with that, the truck was loaded again and off went the items for the store.  I am very pleased that she took so much to her store for resale (dishware, furniture, lamps, jewelry, artwork, etc.) as I will get a percentage of the sale price of these items.  When they were all done, everything was cleared out and the house was ready for the realtor.  It was so nice to have that taken care of for us.  We didn't have to lift a finger!

The pieces were a Lane Weather Master wicker rocker and love seat in perfect condition.  They were picked up in April 2014 and the rocker was damaged either during transit or during unloading.  (The rocker was placed on the selling floor in damaged condition.)
Several weeks elapsed and when I had no further communication from the owner, Vicki, I stopped in the store to see for myself.   This is when I discovered the damaged rocker.  Vicki was unavailable and I was told to come back another time.  I made several more attempts to speak with Vicki over the next two weeks and finally was successful.  She apologized for not sending me the contract and not assigning me a consigner's number.  I wanted to take the love seat with me and leave the damaged piece.  She wanted to keep both pieces and offered me $450 cash for the love seat.  She also promised to have the rocker repaired and to forego her commission on that piece when it sold.  I agreed to this offer, trusting that she would follow through.
Last week, I received a check in the amount of $166.67 for the rocker.  (The rocker sold for &250)  When I went into the store yesterday to speak with Vicki, she denied her previous offer regarding the rocker.  I left the store a bit wiser regarding consignment sales.....this was my first experience!
I certainly would not recommend Ivana's Trunk to anyone who has nice pieces to sell.  The selling floor is unsightly, disorganized  
and lacks respect for the consigners' pieces.

"Thank you sharing the customer' s comments. Of course there are always two sides to an issue. The consignor brought In a rattan love seat and matching chair. The chair had either been damaged by us when arriving in the store or a customer did it and did not inform use-we were not sure at the time. We promptly had it professionally fixed and you could not see where the damage occurred. The consignor wanted to remove the other item but because they matched they should have sold as a set. I told her I would buy the love seat so that the pieces could remain in the store to be sold together. I paid her in cash for the love seat and the chair remained as a consignment item.. When the chair sold, I paid them the customary and usual 2/3rds of the price agreed to on the consignment agreement she signed when bringing her items. I never agreed to paying her more than what the agreement states. Unfortunately she could not understand why I was handling this matter the way that was fair to everyone. We did everything possible to satisfy the customer by buying the love seat outright and paying her the commission owed to her."
