Starting in March we contacted Marvin to repair work on our front steps that he did last year.  He came out once and said that he could repair them for $200.  Since then, despite many, many attempts to contact him, we have not seen him.  A week ago his office said he would be at our house on Friday the 4th 0f September.  He called that noon and said he didn't need to come out as was promised because he knew what needed to be done and that he would be here early Wednesday morning, Sept. 9.  Guess what? No Marvin today - the 9th.  We have documented our many attempts to contact him--his e mail address does not work and most times he does not answer his phone, there is an answering machine that handles all his calls - which are never returned!
Our next step is to write a complaint to the BBB.
We see that he has not paid his bill to Angie's list, yet we see a brand new ad from him advertising patio work.

Don't waste your time with these guys.  My wife and I took a couple of hours of personal time off work each to be there for the meeting with Marvin's.  No one showed, no one called.  I'd like a refund for the time off we took from work.

Marvin came out when he said he would, and provided an estimate on the spot. He was very nice, and had many good suggestions. In addition to fixing the walk and patio, there were some small areas on the garage that required mortar repair. He agreed to fix it all. I received three quotes total from various contractors, and his price was the highest. I felt the most comfortable with his knowledge of what was required, and ultimately decided to use them anyway. Once we agreed upon what would be done, he gave me a date, and they showed up exactly as promised. Much of the work was done, however, they did not clean up, nor did they complete everything. Once I received the invoice, I inquired as to when the rest of the work would be completed. Within 2 weeks, they were out, completed the work, and did an excellent job of leaving the areas clean. Martin apologized that all of the work had not been completed originally, and was there to make sure it was all completed satisfactorily in the end. Two small areas that they had originally worked on were repaired, and all work was completed. Although everything did not go perfectly, he did a great job of making sure it was all done right once it was brought to his attention. He and the crew were friendly and respectful, and very hard workers. I have done enough home repairs to know that things don't always go as expected, but I could not have been happier with his response and commitment to make sure it was all right in the end.

Our overall experience with Marvin?s Brick Pavers was very positive.
We got several bids for our front walkway, steps, and patio and decided to go with Marvin?s Brick Pavers.  Besides the fact that he was very competitively priced, the nice thing about having Marvin bid is that he gives you the price right on the spot; all the other companies took at least a week to mail us their bid.
Marvin said he could do the work in about a month.  When it got closer to the work date, I called and got a more definite start date (a Wednesday).  When they did not show up, I  called and Marvin told me he was called out of town on an emergency and would be back Tuesday.  He said they would be there on Wednesday.  Wednesday came and went with no work done.  They did show up to work on Thursday.  This was our only issue with Marvin?s Brick Pavers, and it really was not that big of an issue as we were not under any time constraints.  It just would have been nice if Marvin?s communication were better.
Marvin and his crew worked about nine hours a day for three days to complete our project, and they did an absolutely beautiful job.  Our project includes a walkway, steps to the house, a raised patio, and a raised bed for flowers/plants.  We selected a tumbled paver of varying sizes, and Marvin chose colors that would complement our house colors.  Marvin also rerouted a downspout and build the patio around an existing clematis plant.  Once again, Marvin and his crew did a beautiful job and we could not be more pleased.
Another nice aspect of hiring Marvin is that he has great ideas about to make the most of your project; he suggested raising the patio and adding the bed for flowers/plants, both of which add character to the front of our house.  He also did a nice job choosing colors that really complement each other and our house.
Not only do we think highly of Marvin, but we also think highly of his crew.  They are hard-working, polite, considerate, thoughtful, and friendly.  When they were cutting the stone and creating a lot of dust they put our garage door down so we would not get dust in the garage.  They also made sure the work site was tidy at the end of each day.
