About four years ago we had a hail storm and had damage to our roof and I can't give them a positive review because they observed some damage to the ply wood or knew there was going to be a problem and didn't tell us about it because insurance was covering the shingle replacement and would not have covered the damage that they saw or anticipated and they didn't tell us about it. They went on and put on the new roof and everything seemed fine. Approximately a year and a half later we had someone look at our chimney and it was some deterioration going on there and the person came down and said they wouldn't take this job because of the condition of the roof. He said there are soft spots everywhere and he got nervous walking around up there and would never take equipment up there. So anyways bottom line was after a long period of negotiation with Mad city roofing they did offer to replace the shingles at no cost to us but we ended up spending another $5,000 because all of the ply wood on our roof needed to be replaced just because it had been nailed through too many times and just the process of having some damage that overtime. It took them a long time to get them to admit that they saw it but didn't alert us to it because they knew that our insurance company was only covering the shingles. We actually did an upgrade that the insurance company didn't cover we paid out of our pocket and we upgraded to a higher grade of shingling that had previously been on there and was covered by the insurance company. I don't know the real reason why they didn't alert us to it at that time. After meeting with him several times he finally admitted that the foreman did alert him that there was a problem and that they had chosen not to tell us. He just said the reason why they didn't pass it on because it wouldn't be covered by our insurance. We may well have had our roof collapse that following roofer because we get a fair amount of snow up here in Wisconsin except for this year and one of the people that looked at it because we spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what was going on because we had also added extra insulation up in our attic and initially that is what he had told us was the problem that the sheeting had been damaged by the excess heat in our attic because when they put in extra insulation that they interfered with ventilation roof the softening and there actually was a certain amount of truth to that. We did find insulations in the faucets when they tore the sheeting off but it wasn't enough to cause the damage that had been done. Like I said he did finally say that the problem had been that the original sheeting was minimal thickness and it had just been nailed through so many times. It was damaged just from having been reroofed several times.

After a hailstorm we hired them and our insurace covered the cost but it was very high. We had something drop through our roof and put a hole in our family room. They took wood from our garage to repair the hole because they did not bring their own supplies. We still have issues with that part of the roof. The gutter work was terrible as well.

I was not happy with them at all. They were on time. They were not professional. The price was terrible. They came out at dinner time and I have 2 small children. So I figure that they would not be there too long. They were here for 2 hours. They are very high pressure sales men. They were rude about us making choices and saying no to them. So he ended up throwing a fit and packed up his stuff.

Mad City Windows sent out a great representative Joe that was very knowledgeable and friendly. Several of the other companies had sent out some pretty high pressure sales types and Joe was the complete opposite. Then the installation team that came out went above and beyond.

The crew arrived early and as the size of the crew increased each one knew what and how to get things done. We are very pleased we chose this company. Everyone was well mannered. The crew leader introduced himself and everything was very business like. Each crew members performance was top notch and I heard no bad language. These guys are just good hard workers.

They were friendly as well and cleaned up everything. I would recommend Mad City Windows to anyone considering replacement windows.

The products are very good. The work was done well. However, it wasn’t done in the time frame that we expected.

I called Mad City and left a message indicating I had a concern with my roof and was hoping to set up an appointment for someone to take a look and provide an estimate. I never received a call to follow up so I proceeded to call other companies that would return my call.

My overall experience with Mad City Roofing has been very poor. The salesman was the only responsive member of the team. He assured us that on a project of our magnitude he would be involved throughout the project to make certain we were pleased. We have not seen him since we signed the contract. The project itself was completed on time but there were multiple places where they damaged our property. We have tried to contact them to rectify the problems but now that they have received full payment they do not return our phone calls. Their clean up was also inadequate. We are now a month past the end of the project and we continue to find roofing nails in the yard. I hope to never purchase another roof but if I do it will not be from Mad City Roofing.

Representative was timely and professional. Estimate was significantly higher than competition ($7500 vs $4500), therefore I did not use them to complete the work.

We obtained a bid from Mad City to insulate, which seemed very reasonable, and scheduled the job with them. The day of the job, a truck from Rockweiler Insulation pulled up and they informed me they do the actual work. When the job foreman discussed the job, it was entirely different from what we hired Mad City roofing to perform. They were only instructed to insulate the space between the first and second floor. Which, incidentally, would have made the lack of insulation around the living space worse, by completely removing the second floor from receiving radiant heat from the first floor. Anyway, when I explained what I needed, the young man agreed with me, but repeated they were only hired by Mad City to blow in insulation between the floors. The men from Rockweiler were very helpful and suggested I call their supervisor. He agreed to come and re-bid the job and informed me what would be adequate insulation for the house. I called Mad City roofing, very upset and our salesman never returned my call. The only further contact we received from him was a phone call on my husband's cell at 9:30 at night, and he left a message. Mad City rebid the job based on the recommendations from Rockweiler. It was 3 times the price of the original bid. The salesman left the bid between the front and screen door. They never apologized, they never contacted us to see how we felt about this incident. The only reason we let them do the job, was to have Rockweiler do the insulating. I can't say enough how impressed I was with the men at Rockweiler. They were wonderful and the job was done in one day, and the second floor is very tight. I can't say enough how disappointed I am about the lack of professionalism from Mad City Roofing. I will never use them again.

Very good. Two representatives came on time to do the estimate. Dressed and communicated professionally. The day the roofing was done they should up on time. The work was completed that day and the site was clean up well.

In addition to illegally parking their truck while at a job site, who would ever do business with a company that conducted themselves this way. After it was pointed out that their truck was illegally parked they gave the appearance they were going to comply and then ignored the request and continued to leave their truck illegally parked and blocking traffic. Who would ever do business with a company that treated anyone this way?

It took a very long time for them to fix my roof. The company themselves did not do the work, they subcontracted it out to another company. I had leaking in my roof a year later. I was disappointed in my roof and the gutters.

I found them through word of mouth, and they had done my son's house a few years ago. They were the 1st people I called, and they were very responsive. The rep came out for the estimate. As far as I know, he didn't get on the roof, but he spent some time measuring and feeling around. He came back into my house and sat down to calculate the estimate. He worked out a contract and went over it with me. It including the gutter helmet which was $10 a foot; I had checked with the hardware store, and they sold it for only $5 a foot. After I reviewed the contract he asked me to go ahead and sign it so they could get me scheduled to make sure it would get done before the winter. I went ahead and signed, but continued getting estimates. I found companies that were cheaper. So, I called to cancel the job, and they were very nice about it and professional. I thought the rep that came out as using just a little bit of a "hard-sell" technique, but he was still nice about it. They also said they would have 8 men working on the roof, which I thought was a lot of workers for such a small roof. There were little touches called "eyebrows" that needed to be replaced, but they would not did not mention them like the additional companies that came out. I'm not sure if the rep that came out to do the estimate was a roofer or not. The other company reps that came out definitely seemed to be professional roofers. The experience was OK, but I decided to go with a different company.

They literally tore the roof up in this process. Their roofers were professional enough, but these young men that they evidently went down to the corner and hired were not. They were given hatchets and told to break the ice up. We ve talked to them and they said it is really damaged. With the shingles being broken, the life expectancy of the roof is definitely lowered. Our insurance company is coming to do something about it, but it shouldn t be their responsibility. We just have not had a very good response from them. We are considering taking them to court over it. They told us we signed a release for them to work on our roof, but didn t sign a release for them to destroy our roof. They are supposed to be professionals and be able to handle this work, but because there were so many requests all over town they hired unqualified people to pound your shingles with a hatchet. The noise was unbelievable with them doing this. They were punctual enough. I thought their price seemed high, but I don t know how these prices work. I would not use this company again.

They did nice work but they just had bad communication, it was difficult setting it up. The person who came over to show us the prices, was very hard to get a hold of, it was hard to schedule a time where they could work. They subcontracted another company to do the work on the chimney and then there was just more communication problems, And more delays.

There was about a six week wait after acceptance of the quote, but during that time we had the most rain in decades. They projected the job taking 3 days, but they were finished in 2. They tore off 3 layers of shingles, re-decked the entire roof, added flashing, ice guard, and the typical waterproof sheeting (I don't recall the term). Then they put on 25-year shingles and re-attached the gutters. I noticed when I came home from work the second day when they were cleaning up that the workers had thrown away the mesh gutter covers. The on-site foreman (who did speak English) said they were bent up anyway. So I emailed the company and a supervisor came out and talked to me and new gutter cover were installed within a week.

This job was part of the hail damage Madison received spring '06. We did run up against the insurance company completion deadline because of this, and Mad City handled it completely. Seth worked closely with insurance to make sure everything was handled. I checked in with insurance to make sure everything was taken care of and I was never misled by Seth. The ten man crew arrived at 8 am on the day scheduled and went to work. All except 1 man were non English speaking, so questions or issues had to be resolved via one person. A "supervisor" did check in 2 times during the project to make sure everything was OK, but he was not on site the entire time, maybe one hour of 6 total. The work was efficient and appeared to be good quality, but it is hard to follow what 10 workers are doing all at once. The roofing was completed in 4 hrs. with 2 hrs. of cleanup. The gutters were completed 2 weeks later by a 2 man crew in 2 hrs. I had no issues with any worker conduct.

We hired Mad City because they were local. They've had a business in Madison for a long time. The salesperson who quoted the project was not involved by the time that the work was completed. We requested that the roof be evaluated after the shingles were removed and that any damaged boards be replaced & our quote incl. a price. The crew that came to our house was not from this area and did not speak English (they did bring a young 8-10 yr old boy that spoke enough English to ask us if we wanted to move our cars out of the driveway.) They quickly removed the old shingles and started placing the new - without reviewing whether any boards needed to be replaced. They didn't understand what we were asking, so we called the office. By the time the new rep made it out to our home, a large portion of the roof was shingled and faulty boards remained. The rep walked the roof with us and agreed that some of the boards should have been replaced...but it was too late for other parts of the roof.

The work done was excellent but it took over 5 months to get the work completed. Part of this was due to a hail storm in the spring that had them over booked, but part was due to lack of staying on top of the project. The roof took one day and the siding took 2 days to complete. So it seems unlikely that the entire process should have taken 5 months. They did clean up very well after the work was completed. The workers were very careful and worked from early morning until it got dark.

They were very prompt and informative in providing the estimate and responding to follow up questions. While the job was then delayed because of weather, they kept us informed. Both the work crew and the overall work were excellent. My only complaint is that it was difficult to contact responsible people during and after the job to check up on issues as they developed as there was not a foreman on site and they did not return calls.
