Greg the owner said that they would call us before-hand sometime in March to start our project. Todd (crew chief) called me on February 17th and informed me that they were ahead of schedule and would be starting our project on Monday the 20th. They finished the roof in 3 days, which may have been helped by the 60-degree weather we had all week! The crew was very professional, courteous and efficient. They kept all of the mess on a tarp and when they left the yard was spotless. In closing, a metal roof is expensive, however after comparing it to our other options, it was the best decision we could make. I plan on doing a follow-up to this review in 6 months to let everyone know how the metal roof stands up to bad weather. My friend has a drone and took some photos of the roofing project as it was completed.
Description of Work: We needed to have our 30-year guaranteed laminated asphalt shingle roof replaced, it was approximately 20 years old. After doing quite a bit of due diligence, we decided on a metal roof. The first quote that we received was from Armor Shield for a Granite Ridge stone coated steel shingle $15,600. We also had a local contractor quote the exact same product $16,000. We had another contractor quote an equivalent non-stone coated steel shingle $16,500. Finally, we had a quote for a two-piece laminated fiber glass shingle, which included a tear-off of our old shingles $11,900. The square footage of our roof is approximately 25 sq.

Everything went well. We have a large roof with some skylights, and needed a ridge vent as well, so job took about a week. Workers were friendly and polite and cleaned up after the job was done

The overall project went well. Armor Shield worked with their supplier to get the color we wanted even though it is not a standard stock color in our area. The contractor was very accommodating in rescheduling the start date of the project twice due to a chimney problem which needed to be addressed before work on the roof could start and due to something that came up at the church a few days before the rescheduled start date. The workers always made sure the site was clean and heavy machinery was out of the way for weekend church services. At the end of the project Greg from Armor Shield met with us to review the project and make sure we were satisfied with the job.
Description of Work: Replace roof over main body of church with steel shingles on board and batten system; open soffits and cut roof ridge for ventilation; wrap soffits in aluminum; and install gutters and downspouts.

This job was a disaster from day one. There were multiple safety issues and it was difficult to work with Greg. When they finally started the work, one of the employees leaned a ladder against the frame of the old window and while taking the trim off, the window crashed into the living room causing the worker to fall from the ladder and brake his leg. We discovered in talks with our insurance that not only did the company not have workman's compensation insurance (despite their website clearly stating they do and the owner assuring us they were covered), the individual was also not personally insured with medical insurance. When the company finally sent out a replacement worker to complete the job, it was a worker accustomed to roofing, not windows. The large window was discovered to be too small for the opening despite being custom ordered. Homeowner's discussed it with Greg, the owner of the company and he said it was intentional so that wide trim could be applied outside to balance the size of the window. The window was installed after building out the frame with leftover materials on the trailer. The rotted trim on the outside of the old window was reused and covered with vinyl. When the project was finished, the window sashes would fall out when opened and light could be seen between the sashes and the unit itself. There were such significant air leaks that the window needed to have plastic over it for the winter. Greg was unwilling to do more than put a few shims in and said that the job was well done and the warranty would cover any issues. Homeowner's hired a home inspector and had the manufacturer of the window units come inspect the job. Both said that the windows needed to be adjusted and were not sealed properly. They had multiple air leaks as well as issues opening and closing. Homeowner's were concerned about utility bills and water damage with the windows staying as-is. After the worker fell and it was discovered that the company did NOT in fact have any workman's compensation insurance, homeowner's were uncomfortable with any employees or Greg himself continuing to work on the property unless they could provide proof of insurance. Greg said he was not required as a small business to carry that insurance and would not be able to provide proof of workman's compensation insurance for any worker he sent out.Homeowner's eventually settled with Greg for the cost of the windows and had to hire another company come out to finish the job correctly. Both windows had to be re-adjusted and foam and caulk needed to be applied both inside and outside the windows.
Description of Work: We had a large 10ft by 5ft window as well as a smaller window in our living room that needed replacement. We had 5 companies give us bids to do the work. We went with Armor Shield due to the lifetime warranty and quality of the windows as well as the promise that he could get us the style window we wanted. We were assured they were a fully insured company and would get the work done promptly. Windows were custom ordered with wood vinyl on the inside and white vinyl on the outside. Work was to include removal and disposal of two old windows, removing any rotted frame and replacing as needed and installation of new windows.

It's unfortunate that an accident occurred on your job site, but in life these things do happen. Because of the concerns of the homeowner we did have the factory rep inspect the installation, we agreed a couple shims were needed to be added so that the windows would seal properly, we then would foam & insulate around the windows as normal. Our goal is always to make our customers 100% satisfied but there was no doing that here. They did ask us to finish the work but we weren't comfortable dealing with this customer any more. In life you come across certain kinds of individuals. If you read all of the other reviews we have [Member Information Removed]'m sure you can see that we have very happy customers, that is why we have an A rating. We have hundreds more that we can give as referrals to anyone that asks. We always have and always will put customer satisfaction as our #1 goal.

How did it go? Overall, not impressed. Quality of workmanship and lack of communication was disappointing. If we were unable to perform our own quality control check, they would have really pulled a fast one. Thankfully my husband went up in the attic and on the roof to inspect the work performed. The work in the attic was not done anywhere close to professional or correct. The roof was full of mistakes and the "Job Rep" wanted to do the final inspection in the rain. My husband took pictures of the disaster the workers considered a job well done and sent them to the sales rep Sunday night before the final inspection on Monday. This included nails and screws all over the roof, poor unsealed seams and NO gutter guard which we paid for to be installed. Rather than call us and let us know he got them and would see to it things were set straight, we heard nothing. On Monday the Job Rep showed up and wanted to do the inspection and receive final payment. I informed him things were not finished. His laborer claimed they were. Job Rep checked and found that indeed things were not done. An installer did return later that afternoon and install the gutter guard. Very poor job, again. After a call to the Sales Rep, who's wife answered, she promised things would be done correct and to our satisfaction. Because of the poor installation job so far, my husband called the Job Rep and informed him one of his employees would not be allowed back on our property to finish the installation. The Job Rep and a different employee of his did return to fix the mess created and we signed off on the job. To this day, a month later, we're still finding screws and nails around the house on the ground. We also had to sweep the driveway after they "cleaned up" to get the nails and screws left behind. And the multitude of small orange disk's from the staple guns are still being retrieved from around the downspouts and yard. The reason for this review on this site? This is one of the things they rope you in with for a discount. Well, fine. But if they were hoping for a pat on the back for a job well done, keep looking. The hassle to get the job done right was not worth it. It really leaves us wondering how things will hold up as the years go by. While the materials and workmanship are under a lifetime warranty, if getting something fixed is as much hassle as the original installation was, yikes. Will we refer anyone to Armor Shield in the future? No. We already had a family member decide not to call them after seeing and hearing of our ordeal.

This is by no means how we do business. We feel terrible about some of the issues these people went through. The job Rep as the customer refers to, or foreman was not on the job like they should be at all times due to a family crisis. This is no excuse it is just what happened in this one situation. We are always trying to better ourselves and this is something that we have implemented if it happens again because things can come up then another foreman or the owner will be there. Again this is no excuse and we feel terrible about what happened. Rest assured that the home owners do not have to worry about anything going forward. We stand behind our product and our customers and will always strive to make things right and acceptable to all involved. Again please read our other posts to confirm this.

I was very impressed with the product and professionaliam of Armour Shield. My metal roof looks exactly as they said, even better. They arrived on time and cleaned up the mess. The downfall is the price, but it beats replacing asphalt shingles every 5 years as I have done. The only negative is that my gutter system was damaged and not reinstalled the way they found it. It has been 3 months nearly since the install and I waited to write a review to make sure everything stayed in place and remained as they said. Other than the gutter system, which will cost me money to replace, I love the roof!
Description of Work: Did provide an excellent looking product, many compliments on the roof. Did clean up any mess. Did not reinstall my leaf filter gutter system as they found it.

Greg was very informative when he came over and we discussed all the details of the roof. We set up the contract and an initial start date. The date came and nothing. A couple days later I got a call from Greg stating the team that was to work on my roof ran into some delay on the job they were working on. So we set a new date and nothing. Again another call from Greg setting yet again another date. This time they showed up early (it was a Saturday) to start preliminary work. The rest of the crew was there the following Monday. The job was to take a week but only took 3 days. And Greg came out the last day to see how things were going and to wrap things up. The team that worked on my house was very polite.

The crew was great. When they noticed there was a problem with the skylight that could have potential to cause problems in the future they recommended replacing. They were able to locate one and have it delivered the next day even though it was not a common size. They were extremely courteous and kept us well informed every step of the way. They did an excellent job of cleaning up when they were finished and made sure that I knew how to contact them if I had any questions or issues after they left.

They were easy to work with. They answered any questions that we had and made sure to explain everything that they were doing. They did an awesome job and they were very nice guys.
Description of Work: They came in and put on a new metal roof on our home and on the breeze way between our home and garage. They put up outlines around the edges of the chimney, smoke stacks, furnace, and hot water heater so it didn't leak into our home. They put skylights in both of our bathrooms. They took a skylight out that was in our kitchen, they put up new insulation and a board to block off where the skylight was. They cleaned up the yard and made sure to clean up any messes as well.

We had no heads up to when they were coming ,initially we were told sometime in May or June they would call a week ahead ,in their defense the material for another job they were to start first didn't come in. Once the initial confusion was straightened out things seemed to go a lot better even with the rain and cold weather. We love the roof, a big thank you to the crew who braved the weather.and the folks at Armor Shield for the great product

The crew arrived and started there work, they were very courteous and answered my questions that we had. In retrospect I wish that we would of had the old roof removed even though the salesman said that it wasn't necessary. It would of cost more, but the end result would of turned out better. Don't get me wrong the guys did a good job with what was there, but it would of looked even better if they had the bare roof to start with. It would of just cost me more money, and we were at the top of price limit already. We had to get the crew to fix a few minor things that were not up to our satisfaction, but overall they were good on the roof. As far as the attic insulation part goes I thought that they could of been a lot more picky about how they put it in, they were in a hurry it seemed like. I know that my attic was a tough one,but they could of done better in my mind. And then there is the sales pitch, we should of gotten other estimates before we got this one. He used the buy it today tactic or the price will go up, if your best price is good today it should be good tomorrow, other people give bids and let you think about it. His price was in the ballpark, we just should of got other prices first. Overall we are pretty happy, it's just the little things.

We appreciate you taking the time to review us. A few of the things that you brought up we just wanted to address and the first being, we encourage everyone to get 3 bids and make us one of them. As for the installation on any job, we want our customers to be 100% satisfied and will always make anything right that has to be taken care of. We want to save our customers money on their new roof, and our roof is designed to go over 1 layer, looking the same as if installed on a bare roof.

Crew arrived on time when they said they were going to. The workers were friendly and professional during the entire job. They were always willing to answer my questions. They kept the worksite clean while they worked and cleaned up everything when they were done. They worked quickly while still doing a wonderful job even when the weather was cold and windy. When they were done and left, you couldn't even tell they had been there except for having a wonderful looking new roof installed. We looked at other products, but this looked far superior to anything else we looked at. I would highly recommend this product and the company that installed it, they did an excellent job at installing a good looking and durable product.

The salesman was completely thorough. He explained what we needed and why. The price was competitive. I was excited about seeing my new roof. The installation started without a hitch, the service men left that evening with tools all over the place. Almost like they were set for the next day. Each day it was the same. We had tools laying on the roof, battery chargers on the ground, ladders set up and we needed to work around the waste collection truck that was parked right at our garage door for 9 days straight. It wasn't the worst , but compared to the way that the salesman was glowing about the installers; I didn't see the actions compared to the words. We had several items that we discussed with the salesman, they were not specifically written down, but we were told that they were what we needed and the proper steps for the install. I felt that I needed to keep on top of the installers to make sure that they were carrying out what I was sold. I was told by the salesman that it was a lifetime roof and items would be replaced. The installers then stated that they didn't need to be replaced. I insisted and called the salesman to ensure that they would be done. I guess time will tell as some items were not specifically on the contract and not specifically completed. I started making a list of all the items that I wanted to see completed before they left. They did complete most of them. I am still looking at having to completely redo my gutters since this roof is not compatible with the 3" gutters on my home. I am not completely unsatisfied, nor satisfied. It is not exactly what I was thinking that this would turn out looking like. I was sold on the one and done, never have to do it again metal roof. I certainly hope that the quality of materials match up with what the salesman represented a whole lot closer than the installation process.

Continuation of our review from March 1, 2016. After some of the issues were addressed, a small section of the new roof was tore off and redone. Some gutters and fascia had to be replaced due to damage caused by Armor Shield crew (now have 2 different color brown gutters). Totally frustrated and fed-up with the company and workers, against our better judgement, we just paid the balance due. We still believe that the installation was not done correctly. Now we just hope and pray after spending so much money that there will be no future problems with our new roof. WRONG! About a month after paying the final payment we had a rainstorm and had water leaking through our wood ceiling and have puddles on our floor. Glad it was on the tile floor and not the carpet. Reported it immediately to Greg, he contacted his worker who came out a few days later. Stated that he had caulked a few areas and not sure if that would take care of the problem and that we would just have to wait and see. Our concern is even if this helps for now what happens in a few years when the caulk dries up and cracks and now we are back to our roof leaking or water could still be getting in and soaking into the insulation which would cause a mold issue. Male person in the home has bad allergies and asthma and mold is very bad for him. Customers please beware...PRODUCT IS GUARANTEED, NOT THE WORKMANSHIP!

This review is totally false. We have worked with these people. We were turned away from the wife the day our installer showed up to finish things and we were told by the husband to wait until spring. Please look at all the other reviews and what people say about our workmanship. This review has no merit what so ever. It is actually under investigation so that Angie's list can get the facts behind what really happened.

Armor shield came to the house to first provide an estimate. When the gentleman doing the estimate went to look in the attic and I told him that I was pretty sure that it was barn boards with spaces between them for the roof decking. He said that all the boards were tight together and I had asked him if he was sure and he said he was. At the end his long presentation, both my wife and I asked him twice if the contract in front of us was an estimate or how much it was going to cost period. He said it was how much it was going to cost not an estimate. He said the tentative completion day would be 11/30/15. Ok, lets get a new roof on. First day of installation came on 12/7/15 and I get a phone call that they need to rip off part of the roof and replace the decking because the boards have space between them, surprise-surprise, here comes an add on for the price. A thorough inspection and listening to the home owner would have stopped this add on and the sour taste in my mouth. The installers who were putting the roof on were very informative and professional with attention to detail. I helped them clean up when the install was done just because. I helped the installers load up 8 bundles of unused metal shingles. When I asked about getting reimbursed for the unused shingles, the gentleman who gave me the estimate said they order more just to be safe and that the cost was the cost. But if the cost was the cost then why did I have to pay more for the decking that needed to be replaced. I haven't had the roof on long, but I do love the way it looks and we haven't had any problems with tv or phone reception. Just have a sour taste in my mouth with the verbiage used with the estimate vs cost and paying for 8 bundles that weren't used.

I'm very sorry that you have a sour taste in your mouth. Customer Service is very important to us. We took off the customers gable end vent and took photos and inspected the area of roof decking that we could access, the customer was with me when we looked at it and took the photos. That area of the roof didn't need replacing. Unfortunately on a separate part of the home there was an area that the previous roofers didn't take care of and we had to address that area. We do everything we can to give an accurate quote without tearing off their roof. In regards to materials we always bring more than enough to the job site so that we don't have to stop and get more material.
