tutorial on how basements are constructed and the normal conditions that
occur over time. Checked all walls to see if plumb. Found walls
okay. Suggested not doing anything about the cracks. I am impressed
with his knowledge and professionalism in not trying to sell work that
he felt was unneeded.
I would definitely call Dale again should my issues not be completely resolved by the landscaping. He was very professional and didn't try to sell me services I didn't need.
From estimate, to the expeditor's visit and the work day everything went great. They were a half hour late on the start date for the job, however they finished the job same day, found a way to get the product into the basement,( steel poles for basement wall support) without damaging any existing paneling or flooring. Office staff was also very good. Easy to talk to, answered any questions we had and worked with us on scheduling a date where we could be there.
All around, a definite A+ company. They took out the old drain tile and some dirt and replaced with new drain tile, gravel and concrete. They cleaned up very well and the basement has not had any water leakage even after heavy rain now for two year. I would hire them again in a heart beat. They really know what they are doing.
Mr. Dobbe, inspected my basement wall problem, suggested a straight forward solution. I am a registered Professional Engineer, and I know his solution was conservative, but prudent and cost effective.
The work was scheduled, expertly done, and completed in the time promised. The crew was efficient, neat and courteous. The clean up was outstanding. The bid from this company was slightly higher than competitors, but it was by no means unreasonable.
In summary, you should definitely have Basement Specialists take a look at your project, but they may or may not be the right fit.
We had a crack, bowing, and water leaks in one of our cement block basement walls. Basement Specialists gave us the most reasonable estimate for the work, and completely described what work they would perform. They dug up the outside near the wall down to the drain tile, checked the drain tile at that wall plus about 40% of the tile around the house to insure they were clear, straightened the wall, and installed very strong metal bracing around 75% of the entire basement walls. We have not had any water in our basement since this work was completed.
Recently (2011-2012), we noticed that several of the 2x8's near the wall that was fixed were pushed up about an inch off the I-beam. They created a "hump" in our first level floor. I called Basement Specialists to look at the problem, to see what could be done. They inspected the issue within a couple days of my call, and had a structural engineer look at it a few days later. They fixed the problem within a 4 days after that. Even though I do not believe the problem was caused by their original work, they did not charge me for any of this work. I believe the problem was caused by a large tree near that wall that caused pressure against that wall.I highly recommend this company to everyone.
Their professionalism and 100% guarantee of their work is not something I see in all companies these days.
ONCE HE ARRIVED HE MEASURED THE TWO WALLS IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS FOR THE AMOUNT OF BOW. HE THEN INSPECTED THE WALLS FOR CRACKS BETWEEN THE BLOCKS. ONCE ALL THAT WAS COMPLETED HE WANT OUTSIDE TO INSPECT THE LAWN AROUND THE HOUSE AND MEASURED THE SLOPE AWAY FROM THE HOUSE, AGAIN, IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS.
HE THEN GAVE US HIS RECOMMENDATION. HE SAID OUR PROBLEM WAS THE LAWN NEAR THE HOUSE SLOPED TOWARDS THE HOUSE. THAT THE CRACKS IN THE BLOCKS WERE NORMAL BUT THE SEEPAGE SHOULD GO AWAY IF WE BUILD UP THE LAWN AROUND THE HOUSE WITH DIRT, LAY ROOFING MEMBRANE AND COVER WITH ROCKS.
DALE DID NOT CHARGE US FOR HIS TIME AND GAVE US TWO LANDSCAPERS TO CALL. GETTING THE HOUSE READY FOR SALE IS STRESSFUL AND FINDING THIS PROBLEM DID NOT HELP BUT USING ANGIE'S LIST TO FIND B.S.I. AND GETTING SOME HELP FOR A QUICK FIX WILL HELP US TO MOVE ON.
They are an outstanding company. If we have problems in our basement sometimes water comes in for a variety of different reasons. They tested and determined that on the outside there was some tile that had to be cleaned at which they did a wonderful job. They then coated the brick and fixed everything up and landscaped the way. I have absolutely no water coming in now. Everything was excellent.
