Filter reviews by service
and recently a new air filter on the mower and it didn't seem to help the difficult starting .
Waited a week and was called on a following Saturday to come and pick up the mower.
Arrived and reviewed the invoice. The mechanic had put on a new air filter and charged me $5.73.
I told the guy at the counter that I had placed a new filter on the mower about a month prior and that I didn't need a filter.
He claimed it was dirty....but didn't hesitate to refund the $5.73 - maybe because there was another customer behind me
listening to the conversation AND my original filter was not that terribly dirty as it was only about a month old. It should last a full summer, maybe two summers of cutting grass.
Although there is a sign that says the going rate is $65 an hour and that there is an environmental fee for gas, etc. it does not
show the price of a $6 add on. I asked about this up front when I dropped the mower off and was told what the fee was, but I had to ask.
I would take a product back to get fixed again, but I would be careful as to what it needed. I know the basics of
an engine and how to give it preventative maintenance. Anyone how knows nothing about and engine is at the mercy
of the mechanic and his integrity or the lack of.
It is very easy to claim something was wrong and to "pretend" to fix it with the accompanying charge.
Let the buyer beware and if one finds a trustful mechanic, stick with him over time.
