Eric Gedney Architect

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It worked out very well. I was very happy. I have time left on the Big Deal and I will probably extend that time to get into construction. He really listened to what I wanted and though I had thought that I couldn't get what I wanted, he talked me through and worked it out to give me what the ultimate design was going to be.

He was very flexible, came up with innovative ideas, was prompt and on time for all meetings. He was very willing to listen and come up with very interesting ideas for our floor plans. He was even willing to go to the city to work with them as well! He was even talking pricing and what was affordable and what was overly expensive. He went out of his way to try to us with our remodeling. Through it all, his professionalism was top notch. He was very polite and has a very high level of integrity.

He was prompt. We were looking for feasibility and solution sketches for a major addition to our simple/modest 1920 farmhouse to address space problems. Eric did a walk-around "arm wave" is how he put it - to view our home. He determined that the project would best be served by a design-build firm and did not really seem interested in the project. I provided him with measurements for some rough drawings/sketches/outlines. We have yet to hear back on those. He suggested a couple of firms in his area & south in Seattle, but was not familiar with any design/build firms in our area (Everett & north). The ones he suggested, he stated would possibly not work north on "small" projects and that I should contact them to find out. I can't say I would hire him in the future - not sure if that 30 min. visit for him to give us referrals to other firms was worth the $250.00 for 3 1/2 hrs of architectural design consultation. Was not sure how to answer the Angies List review question "Was work done?". Yes, he visited and gave us suggestions, but no actual physical sketches/designs/drawings. So the answer would be "yes" and "no".

I used a $99 deal to have Eric plot the shaded area of my lot if a maximum house was built next to my lot. Eric did a study on this and emailed me the area.

He came out to discuss the project with me. I appreciated him coming and listening to my ideas. He explained why my original ideas wouldn’t work with the home and provided an alternative suggestion. His suggestion was just too pricey. He was very friendly and nice to deal with.

Everything went very well...and we hired Eric to prepare plans for our new home.

Eric did excellent work. He completely understood my goals and was able to develop a master plan that fit my requirements around phasing and appropriate scope. It was more than I expected and I will absolutely work with him on future projects.

We were researching options for more space and found the Big Deal for Eric, we purchased it and used some of his time to discuss options for our current house. He came by a few times and we discussed possible options for what we could do with the house and even brought his favorite contractor along to help inform what options of his were "financially smart" since Eric did not deal with the actual construction, he would only provide plans/blueprints, etc.. Both of them were very helpful and provided fabulous guidance for all the options we could consider. If I ever decide to remodel on a large scale, I will definitely contact Eric again.

Eric is very professional and gave us many pointers. His experience definitely shows and got all our questions answered.

Pretty tedious. Whatever idea we had, it apparently needed some dynamic CAD work at additional expense.

I sent an email to Mr. Gedney and he called me the next day. I wasn't in a hurry so we set up an appointment for a couple weeks later. We spend an hour and a half together and then he finished his plans at his office. He emailed them to me a week later and I was very satisfied with the result.

Eric arrived on time and with a great attitude, even though I asked him to arrive at 10 a.m. in West Seattle. (He's based in Woodinville.) We walked through the house and the basement I want to remodel once the house belongs to me. He listened carefully to my concerns, questions, and needs, and then did measurements to create his later plan. He clearly has a great deal of experience in remodeling, and so I felt like I got extra value from his answers about how to handle flooring in a basement properly, to make sure water never becomes an issue. He was everything you hope for in a situation like this: prompt, knowledgeable, and above all else: a good listener. Didn't seem to matter that my project is a tiny one with a scarce budget, Eric treated me and the project like we were the only things on his plate for the day. He also has a great sense of humor -- or at least he laughed at my jokes about worrying when the architect winces a little bit -- so that counts with me. I look forward to a basement remodel that will end up with light, bright open spaces that flow and make sense, thanks to Eric!

I called him a year ago. But, he was working on a few other larger projects so, I told him he could put my job aside a little bit. We were finally able to get together in October and it was really good from then on. He did a great job. He gave me some of his ideas and he incorporated some of my ideas. He gave us a blueprint of the project and everything went great. We were pleased with his services.

See above description. It went well, he was very professional, and yes, we would use his services if we follow through. To date, we have not taken any steps to make the changes we discussed, asked for, and he suggested. Lack on decision on our part.

Had a very pleasant conversation with Eric for about an hour. He answered all our questions and showed us some very interesting walk-through animations on some other projects. Hope to have soon another conversation for the remaining of the coupon time balance.

Eric was very punctual and personable. He showed up on time, then got down to business, looking at the house from many different angles, then came up with two different approaches to the stairwell. I chose one and he promised me a basic blueprint would be sent. It arrived as a PDF via email right on time. Eric is highly professional, obviously loves his work and exhibited solid knowledge of the codes while he was here-yet he is down to earth enough to be approachable which I personally liked. I think Eric would be a good choice to work with on a larger project and would recommend him.

Eric arrived at our house. We sat and discussed the remodel project. Then he toured the room as well as examined the outside to get a sense of the space. He took measurements of the room. Within a couple weeks we had two sets of drawings for two optional ways to remodel. We have not proceeded from this point because we are still deciding what we want to undertake.

Within a few weeks, Eric and his assistant Karl presented an unbelievably good redesign to make our contemporary house fit in with our craftsman/Victorian neighborhood.We are so excited about the possibilties. We are now getting bids from contractors so we can move forward, so I can't speak to Eric's work beyond the design phase yet, but we are very impressed thus far. He is prompt and thorough in explaining his process. He is also very good at listening to what we want, and realistic in melding our ideas with his aesthetic. We definitely recommend Eric's work so far.

Mr. Gedney was very responsive in phone calls, and always returned my calls. We set up an appointment time and he spent as much time as necessary to listen to what I needed. He sent me a completed drawing, which more than met my expectations. He also very kindly offered to talk to the contractors when they come out to work on the awning in case they had any structural problems reading his drawings. I still have not completed the awning due to other problems that cropped up, but still will use the drawing this upcoming summer and look forward to the nice addition it will add to the house. Very positive experience.

Contacted Eric, he came as promised, gave us the ideas and drew up some rough plans. This is what we wanted.

Before I purchased the Deal, I called Eric to make sure it was the type of project that made sense. He was more than happy to discuss my ideas over the phone, so I was comfortable making the purchase. I really appreciated that. Eric was prompt (even early) and professional. He answered all my questions and came up with great ideas for my house. I can't wait to complete the project!
