They said they would start at 8:30 and they arrived right on time. They went right to work as the Arborist had been on the sight for a review and cost of the work a couple of days before. He went with us to see what work was to be done and gave us great suggestions on how to improve things and keep the costs down. Chris was outstanding on his knowledge on all the plants and what needed to be done to keep them in good health. The crew all knew what had to be done, cut down the trees and ground them up along with everything else that needed to be removed. They were very careful not to damage the lawn and put down plywood on top of the grass for protection. The compost was very carefully placed around the plants and trees. They worked through the lunch hour and did a super job of cleaning up. Would use them again.

The work was done very professionally. Chris made sure that we were satisfied. They cleaned up our yard so well that except for the beautifully trimmed Arborvitae and thinned tree branches you could tell anyone had been working in our yard. I highly recommend A to Z Stump & Tree Inc. to anyone who wants a problem free service.

Came in the morning to take a look at the two medium trees downed by the last windstorm. He recommended some pruning of trees so wouldn't become an issue later. He came back the same day and did the job quickly, cleanly! Professional yet friendly and that holds true for his employees also. I will use him again for certain.

Scott and his crew showed up timely and got right to work. They were all very courteous and friendly and worked very hard. Scott continually checked in with me to make sure the work was being done as I wanted. The crew was very safe.

Several large men arrived on time and started working immediately. They worked hard and fast and then cleaned up the area. It was like a whirlwind of activity for a few hours and then they were done. They did exactly what we asked for.

I used the Angies List coupon from the monthly magazine for this provider. I have very mixed feelings. The responsiveness was great, the arborist knowledgeable, seemingly understood what I wanted. The quote was reasonable and the time frame worked for me. They phoned when they were on their way. My property is not easily accessed (retreat lot). So all the trees and shrubs are important for screening the adjacent properties. The job was to prune my trees in order to trim them away from the driveway and house, and to THIN them FOR THE WIND TO GO THROUGH. That is what I asked for and it was termed selective pruning in order to keep the privacy while making it safer to have the two story plus trees near my two story home. When the crew arrived, with the arborist, in order to achieve the facing of these trees (straight up... to the top... better to have angled back but I hadn't asked for that). The facing was instead angled forward as you go up one tree. They reluctantly agreed to do more facing for the tree on the back side of the property. I was told the tree along the driveway was straight up and it was an elusion (see pictures if I attach) that it angles forward over the driveway at the top third. Then I was told that the selective pruning couldn't be done on the one tree closest to the house. I have no idea what equipment is needed. One worker wanted me to sign a release? because what I wanted would look bad. The arborist said that we had discussed climbing the tree (no we didn't) and that type of tree couldn't be climbed. I wanted the branches cut at the trunk, not a trimming of the end of the branches. Trimming the end of the branches has no effect on the wind factor. I was clear about what I wanted and had to defend that. Not pleasant. One tree was removed. Absolutely no problem with that. They cleaned up after the work beautifully. The problem was getting done what I was told would be done. There were some not so subtle threats about costing a lot more, that getting up that high to remove the branches might cause them to damage (as in kill) the tree. They had what looked like a chain saw at the end of a long pole and climbed up on a tall ladder. Looked really unsafe to me but the arborist was doing it... and though saying whatever you want, we want you to be happy, that was not what was happening. If I had not been home, this would have a totally unacceptable job. I had prepared for this job and put flags on the trees, I had trimmed (faced) the trees as high up as I could with my six foot ladder in preparation. Clearly indicating where the "facing" should begin back from the driveway and in the back. They were very unhappy that they had to spend more time and do more than THEY had planned on. After all they had a "big" job they had to get to. Not my problem. I was told during the quote and then again the day of the job, that they had never been asked to window or put holes in a Leland Cypress. They also tried to convince me that the trees would never fall over, more than once but, if I took branches out that the snow and ice would form and break the branches. Maybe that is true but if so, it should have been addressed at the time of the bid. If I ever do this again, and now I will probably have to, I will take pictures of the trees, circle and mark exactly what I want done and then they will bring the correct equipment and quote based on what they have to do to achieve that.

Great result. Scott was easy to work with. Stump is gone down to about 18".

All went well....we negotiated the service/price and sent over the signed agreement. Due to their scheduling, that actually called and completed the servcie the same day. We plan to use them for future work required on our property for other trees.

Chris came out as soon as we called and talked to us about our trees, gave us a price to cut the trees and grind the stumps and then he gave a range of costs for the neighbors trees that he could see from the street. When his crew arrived they were very professional. They ended up getting work from 4 of our neighbors.

We called and had them take a look at the trees many of which were a hazard. They arrived promptly and worked quickly. It was pretty amazing to watch. They removed all the branches, chipped them and chopped the wood in moveable sections where a wood remover comes to take them. They did a great job and we still have more to do.

The first time they removed the stumps. The second time they came out and are trimming up dead trees. They are doing an amazing job. They have an arborist and he walked around 5 acres and was able to point out which trees were alive and which trees were dead.

I was contacted promptly once I left a message to set up the estimate. The appt. was set for several weeks out due to their schedule being full. A crew of 5 arrived tot take care of the appt. and all went quickly. They got a little exuberant with the trimming of the second tree, and I had them cut less than what they wanted. They cleaned up afterwards, and everything looks great.

I called A to Z to remove some stumps from a laurel hedge. They were upfront with me that this was too small of a job to come out for given our location, but were able to provide me with the name of another company who could do the work. I give A to Z credit for helping me to solve the problem

They exceeded my expectations.

Scott did an excellent job of taking my info, showing as committed, quoting a reasonable price (lower - middle of the several quotes) and banging out the work. That's how work gets done. Also quoted a good price for some future work they'll do.

The worker arrived on time, took down the tree, ground the stump well below the ground line, and cleaned up after the project. This firm has an arborist that gives the verdict on the tree!, And makes a recommendation for replacement. He gave us a clear estimate on each part of the project.

A to Z was the easiest contractor to work with. Showed up to quote the job without us even having to be home. Provided a competitive quote. They got the job done quickly and performed the service exactly how we had asked them to. I would highly recommend them and would not hesitate to call them again for future needs.

We would like to thank, Charlie Anderson, Jericho, Lemar, and Chris Hall, who was their supervisor, who was here on the job with his crew the whole time. They did an excellent job of removing a massive cedar tree as well as cleaning up the work afterwards. We appreciate their sensitive cutting and trimming of our pine tree too. We are very pleased with their work, that we even recommended them to our neighbors.

Their quote was significantly less than the other quote we received. They showed up early on the day scheduled and had the job done in an hour. One tree was about 8" in diameter, the other about 30" in diameter and about 45' tall. Both were removed safely and efficiently and all the branches and smaller pieces chipped and hauled away. We kept the big rounds for firewood. They laid down plywood to bring in the stump grinder across the grass so that it didn't leave grooves in the lawn.

Scott provided very professional service. Quote was accurate. Estimated job completion was to the date. Showed up on time, did the work and when they left, you literally didn't see anything out of place. Clean job. Thanks so much.

Owner came out and gave a reasonable estimate for the amount of work needed. He was friendly and professional. He didn't try to push or hard sell any additional services than required, especially since we were not looking into re-landscaping. On the day the work was done, we needed a few more trees and shrubs done and he was able to accommodate this request for a nominal fee. We were very happy with A to Z and like the other reviewers on list, highly recommend their work. Chris, the arborist, gave a lot of tips and instructions on how to maintain the many trees on our property and also helped identify a few mystery trees. He gave feedback on some other trees that may a better fit for our home, location, and climate. He did a great job in shaping and trimming the trees and bushes and definitely gave needed facelift to the property. We're already getting compliments from neighbors and friends.

When I called the superintendent was very responsive and came out to give me an estimate two days later. I was particularly concerned about whether the job could be done without damaging adjacent plants and without damaging my new fence. The superintendent indicated there would be no problem. He gave me an estimate on the spot and scheduled the tree removal for the next Monday. I was expecting the crew first thing in the morning. When they didn't show I had to call the superintendent and he said they wouldn't be at my house until after 1:00. The crew arrived about that time, though their chipper truck appeared to be almost full. They started working right away. I was immediately concerned when the branches of the tree were being cut because they were being dropped into the plants I didn't want damaged. Once I talked to one of the crew, however, they were very careful. The guy who climbed the tree and cut it down, in particular, was excellent. He worked quickly and carefully. In a very short time, the tree had been completely cut down and the two other crew members had cut up the tree into pieces. However, during this time, the crew had been unable to chop up the branches because the chipper truck could not hold any more and needed to be dumped. They guy who was responsible for grinding the stump started working on it. This took longer than it took to cut down the tree. During this time the superintendent and one of the crew took the chipper truck to dump its contents. When they returned and the crew began chipping all the branches, the superintendent gave me the bill. I paid it without concern because I thought everything would be completed as I anticipated. He then left, in a hurry to get to another job. The crew finished cutting up all the branches. I went over to look at the stop where the stump was ground. I was surprised because it was probably 2-3 feet deep with chips, ground up dirt pieces of roots etc. Some of the pieces of roots were 3 feet long and 9-10 inches in diameter. I went out to talk to the crew and they were cleaning up and said they were just about done. I asked them about the pile of debris and the pieces of wood, and they said they weren't supposed to do anything with them. I asked what was I supposed to do with them, adding that I was 66 and couldn't begin to lift the wood or roots. One of the crew picked up 4 pieces of roots, but that was it. They left the job site with all the pile of debris and as well as all the wood. I called the superintendent and his response was that I didn't tell him that I wanted the wood hauled away. I told him I had contracted with them for tree removal not tree cut down and left in my yard.He told me that would have cost more money. I reminded him that he never even asked me what I wanted done with the wood when he gave me an estimate. He acted very begrudging with me and finally agreed to pick up the wood. It took another week and two more calls for this to be done. He did not contact me when he came so I was unable to discuss the rest of they debris. I called to talked to the owner, but got a voice mail. I left a message that I would like the 2-3 feet of debris removed, but never got a call back. Three of my neighbors were appalled by the job done by AtoZ and couldn't believe they left such a mess. I still have a huge amount of debris I need to remove, and will have to do it myself. I would never contract with them again nor recommend them to anyone.
