MCFARLANE'S BARK INC

I hired a contractor to haul brush debris for disposal. I went with the driver of most of the loads in order to pay for each load. These eight loads ranged in price between $49-$91. Although the truck was a twenty yard dump, the load is usually less than twenty yards as tree limbs and yard debris do not form a compact load like dirt or gravel does and so the charge is somewhat arbitrary. All loads were similar. It was suggested that I preauthorize a credit charge so that I would not have to attend each load for payment. When I did this the charge soared from a previous maximum of $91 to $140 for 4 loads and $175 for one load. The $175 charge was for twenty five yards which a twenty yard truck is unlikely to be able to deliver. I watched every load go out and all were very similar. I have tried for over a week to resolve this issue with one of the owners, but to no avail and so have since disputed the four excessive charges on my credit card. I would not recommend preauthorizing charges with this company as they have not dealt with me appropriately.

Contacted McFarlanes to order some soil for my raised beds. The customer service lady spent extra time discussing the soil type, and making sure it would work good for our raised beds. Had delivery scheduled as well - They were right on time, and put the soil right where it was convenient for us to move it. The soil was very high quality, and will work very well in our Garden

SERVICE WAS DELIGHTFUL. THE DELIVERY MAN WAS TIMELY AND FRIENDLY. MATERIALS WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH. USING DIFFERENT SOIL IN THE GARDEN OFTEN CAUSES GROWTH OF SEVERAL WEEDS, AND THEIR PRODUCTS WERE TREATED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ENSURE THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE BARK QUALITY WE GOT FROM MCFARLANE'S. SOME COMPANIES WILL GRIND ANY SORT OF TREE OR YARD DEBRIS INTO BARK DUST, BUT YOU CAN TELL JUST FROM THE SMELL WHETHER YOU HAVE A GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT, OR NOT. THE DELIVERY DRIVER WAS VERY POLITE AND WENT TO AN EXTRA EFFORT TO PLACE THE PRODUCT EXACTLY WHERE I ASKED.

THEY WERE EASY TO WORK WITH. SCHEDULING AND WORKING WITH THEIR DELIVERY DRIVER ALLOWED EVERYTHING TO WORK SMOOTHLY. THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH ME WORKED WELL. THEIR TIME OF DELIVERY WAS PRECISE.

I HAVE USED MCFARLANE'S FOR MANY YEARS. THEY DO A NICE JOB OF SCHEDULING, AND NOTIFYING ON THE DAY OF CONFIRMED DELIVERY. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS THIS YEAR. THE PRICE QUOTED TO ME OVER THE PHONE WAS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WAS CHARGED AT DELIVERY.
