My wife was in tears, we've even had conversations about selling the house because my wife can't bear to look at it. My neighbor said she thought she had driven into the wrong address when she came home and saw the work. She spoke with Greg and he had talked about doing something to help - my neighbor wanted me to conduct negotiations how this would go down. So I called and hit a receptionist, then Greg's wife, then ... Greg's wife again saying Greg didn't want to talk to me on the phone, but wanted to meet me at the house. I told them I didn't want him anywhere near if my wife was home because she wouldn't "mince words" (to put it nicely). Obviously it was becoming another situation where I would have to leave work early - sorry, I wasn't going for it a third time. I stopped interacting with them at this point. Finally our neighbor received the invoice and they had over-billed from the bid - we were supposed to get a 15% off-season discount, but they ADDED 15% rather than subtracted! I just wrote our neighbor a check for our half and let her take it from there. I really only wanted it over at this point, an awful lot of stress over something that should have been straightforward. And funny - all that time and the company never felt it necessary to know my name or bill me separately.
"I have been struggling with responding to this review because my point of view is quite different than what is posted above. I do not want to accuse anyone of being dishonest or spinning the truth, but here is my version of this situation. I do not recall anyone requesting to be present at the time of service. This is something that is crucial to customer satisfaction. This is double checked by myself or the Certified Arborist who wrote the contract, and also my office staff who schedule the jobs. So it is not likely that is was made clear to us that someone wanted to be present at the time of service. In our profession it is nearly impossible to give any customer an exact time of arrival unless it is first thing in the morning. If we are unable to complete a job it is always my goal to make sure it does not get rescheduled again no matter what. Even in a windstorm and its aftermath we put this job first to keep our commitment. Their branches were not just sheared off the trees, they were removed by an ISA Certified Arborist. In most cases, Fir tree branches are removed completely not cut back. This is how they are properly trimmed up to provide more clearance. Anything else would have been inappropriate and unsightly. The job was performed to the exact specific contract that was written by me and I went over the project in detail with my arborist before he started the project. The neighbor ( the person who actually contracted us to do the work) said to me after the work was done " you guys trimmed the trees exactly how it was written on the work order". If this mans wife feels so passionate about the trees, she should have been present at the consult when the contract was written! After all, that would have been much easier than moving when she didn't find the outcome as she had expected. When a customer finds anything unsatisfactory with our service I always make myself available, to meet at the site and come up with a solution. A site visit is the only way I can explain the workmanship. Its the only way I can see a problem for myself and make arrangements to resolve it, and at the very least take responsibility for our part in the situation. Customer satisfaction is the most important thing to me, and it always come before profits or egos or anything else. I have worked so hard to maintain my reputation through humility and understanding. This person never gave me the opportunity to make them happy and explain the workmanship. I would have been more than willing to come out on a Saturday for a site visit. If any of my customers find something unsatisfactory I will be available to them 7 days a week to resolve it. My quick-books shows no mistake in the billing. I would still like the opportunity to resolve this issue. Please call the office to schedule and appointment with me at your convenience. Sincerely, Greg Richardson Owner"
Highly recommend
This tree must be over 50 years old and stands in my backyard. With heavy winds several huge
branches have fallen into my backyard causing a mess in the past. This year it needed my attention
so I hired Cascade Tree Works to prune and haul away the heavy branches as well as the dyeing limbs
to allow sun to come through. They arrived on time, did the work asked of them and cleaned up all the
branches and limbs left behind. You could not even tell they had been here. Thank you Anglies list for
pointing me in the right direction. I would hire this company again.
At 7:45 AM the following morning I heard a chainsaw start up. I looked out my bedroom window to see someone already up in the tree in the backyard cutting it down. No one had called me or even knocked on the door, they'd simply let themselves into the back yard and started in.
When I left for work about an hour later there were several workmen trimming the front tree and I had to climb over branches to get to my car and move the parking cones out of the way - they all completely ignored me.
The quoted work was done when I got back and some clean-up was done, but it wasn't exceptional. There were several big and small branches laying around and debris pretty much everywhere. The tree in back was cut into sections and scattered around the area.
No one ever called me to explain the mixup, no paperwork was left explaining what had been done. I thought the quote for the work I wanted done was a bit high, but this company had lots of good reviews so I assumed that the work would be high quality. I was disappointed every step of the way. Their lack of communication and customer service is exceptionally bad.
The owner came to give us four bid options from trimming the suckers to worst case scenario depending on if the tree was badly decayed. Because of the time of year and they had just come back from vacation they had quite a back-log - but they were well worth the wait. Three men came, they tested the tree and found only slight decay. They performed the work in a very timely manner. It was a very hot day! But all three were very professional, courteous, informative, responsive to our questions, and pleasant. They also removed a couple branches from a tree encroaching on our neighbor's property.
This was EXCELLENT service provided by all members of Cascade Tree Works we had contact with including their office staff. We highly recommend Cascade Tree Works!
