Roofing
The owner Jorge told us that they would start on Saturday and be done on Sunday. They showed up on Saturday and everything went fine. On Sunday, one of the three workers told us that his wife was sick so he would have to go home to take care of his children. Within 30 minutes, the remaining two workers (including Jorge) told us that they had to go finish another job that had been suspended due to rain and they would have to rent a ladder to do the fascia. They didn't come back the rest of the day.
They worked on the roof all week but generally did not show up until late morning or early afternoon then worked in the dark. Jorge told my husband every day that they would be finished the next day. On Friday night when my husband and I came home from work, they were still working in the dark. Jorge told my husband that they would be finished soon. When they knocked on the door, my husband was told that they were finished but there were two foot gaps in the gutters and what was hung was level (there should be a 1/4" drop for every 10 feet), they had not hung they correctly. They said there nothing they could do with them and there was a long piece in the back if we wanted to cut it to make them fit. They were planning to leave them like that with sections with no gutter at all and wanted to be paid. Jorge asked my husband to pay for the ladder rental which we refused.
My husband told them that it was unacceptable to leave the gutters like that and we would pay the remaining balance upon inspection in the day light. They said they would be back on Saturday. On Saturday morning, only Andrew showed up. Jorge had decided to stay home. We explained to Andrew that the gutters would have to be corrected. We also noticed that the fascia on one side had not been replaced and there were gaps approximately 2" wide in some of the fascia that was replaced. We found some of the ridge caps had been ripped and rather than replace them, they used roof caulking on them. We also found nails sticking up and some of the new shingles were showing black from them dragging the bundles of roofing and boxes around on it. He left around 9:00 am to get a friend to help him and didn't come back until noon. When it started to get dark and the gutters were still not fixed, we told Andrew that we would deduct $100 and we would have to gutters fixed by someone else.
I would not recommend Sturdy Construction due to anyone.
