This system failed after 8 years, we have had R & R techs here several times and each visit leads to more problems. The techs were pleasant but I am unsure of their abilities. A 20 year compressor failed after 8 years, then a thermal expansion valve froze, now the hot water recirculating system exploded due to high pressure. The techs requested private conversations while working on the system which leads me to believe they needed help or reported previous improper installations. Two competitors have lead me to believe that R & R does their work in a way to require future increased maintenance. The scheduler has been rude but I have been also after 4 months of headaches. We have also incurred $500 hundred of additional expense for electric emergency heat while the problems are not solved (basically baseboard heat) in a 5000 sq.ft. house.
We have no confidence in them and the problems are not resolved yet.

"Thank you for your feedback and for being a customer of R&R. We understand your frustration and are committed to giving you the best service possible. We originally designed and installed this geothermal system in 2004 for the previous homeowners at your address. Our service records indicate they did not perform recommended annual preventive maintenance on the system and also failed to replace dirty air filters. Unfortunately this lack of care by them had a negative impact on the health of the system you inherited upon purchasing the home. According to our records, we received no heat calls for service by the original homeowners on two occasions – April of 2007 and April of 2008. In both cases our technician discovered the filters were completely matted with thick layers of pet hair which was severely restricting the airflow to the unit. As you can imagine, this puts unnecessary stress on the components as it tries to move air. In April of 2011 we received our first service call from you as the homeowner, and at that time we recommended replacement of the flow center, which you opted not to do at that time. On two subsequent service calls, we diagnosed additional issues including the failing compressor and thermal expansion valve, all likely caused by lack of maintenance and a history of poor air circulation. We believe the lack of care by the original homeowners is the root cause for the issues you’ve experienced years later. We always recommend performing regular annual maintenance on your HVAC equipment to help prevent mechanical breakdowns, protect your investment, and maximize its lifespan. This recommendation, endorsed by our manufacturers as well as all reputable HVAC professionals, is for your benefit, not ours. It’s like an auto mechanic recommending that you change the oil in your car. If the competitors you spoke with feel maintenance on your system isn’t important, we would question their expertise and motive. We’re committed to taking care of you and treat our customers how we’d want to be treated. We pulled a lead Commercial Foreman off his project on Monday Dec. 23rd to take care of you, and on Christmas Eve we dispatched one of our most experienced technicians out to you to help you out. Our records indicate your system is now up and running without problems after our most recent visit. We stand behind our work and are proud of the expertise each of our certified technicians possess. We’re not perfect, but we are dedicated to your complete satisfaction. Our reputation is strong because of that commitment. Please let us know how we can be of further service to you in the future."

We purchased our home 1 month ago, and the furnace had been serviced approx 1 month prior to that, with light usage in the interim as the weather had still been good. We've been running it since moving in. At the time of service (also by R&R) it had needed some fixes but had still been under warranty. With what was done to it, everything should have been running smoothly for a while to come.
Last Sunday morning we woke up to no heat and a house that was 62 degrees. We played with the thermostat settings but nothing would make the furnace kick on. My husband went down into the crawl space and followed the instructions on the furnace to reset it, to no avail. Finally, we gave up and called R&R. I expected there to be an after-hours surcharge, but I wasn't willing to use our space heater and wait until Monday.
We spoke to Eric, who said there were 2 calls in front of us and then he'd be out. We spoke to him at about 1pm and he arrived by 3:30pm, which seemed prompt all things considered. He told us the furnace turned on fine when he overrode the thermostat, and after trying several things found the problem to be a corroded relay (which is apparently not common). We got the last replacement part he had in his truck. He was in our home for about 90 minutes, but the cost was very reasonable, and to my pleasant surprise there was not a Sunday surcharge. We were able to use the 10% Angie's List coupon to save some money. I was very happy with their service.

It started out rocky but PLEASE read all the way to the end!

I originally had someone come out to give me a quote for install of a geothermal system. They arrived on time at my house to get a lay of the land and appeared very knowledgeable. As we were going through things around the house we found some plans with piping which he asked to borrow as it would save him time and energy for the quote. I gladly let him borrow those plans. He said he would get a quote ready for me and get back to me as soon as possible. I never did hear back from him. I even called him about 3-4 times (the personal number I was given off his card) and left messages every time. I still never heard back. I also called R & R multiple times and got a hold of the receptionist who kept telling me "Oh, he just stepped out of the office can I leave him a message and have him get right back to you?" After the first 3 times of leaving a message with the receptionist and not hearing anything back, I finally called her and was told the same thing "Oh, he just stepped out of the office..." At that point, I was very frustrated and said "I have been trying to get a hold of him for 6 weeks and keep calling you guys and getting the same run around." The receptionist was then going to send an e-mail to him or some such letting him know my concerns. By that time, I had decided not to go through with the geothermal and was wondering about mini-split systems. The receptionist then said "Jason doesn't work with those. Let me transfer you to Ginger, the receptionist for the department that deals with those." I never did hear back from the first guy regarding the geothermal. I did have 2 other companies come out to give me quotes on geothermal. One company got back to me fairly quickly and said they would not recommend it in my area because unable to get temperatures right or some such as well as cost (I didn't completely understand it). The other company I contacted also took FOREVER to get back to me and I called them several times to inquire about the quote. They eventually did get back to me to tell me essentially the same thing as the other guy.

Anyways, I was transferred to the other department at R & R that deals with mini-splits and scheduled an appointment to have someone else come out to give me a quote on a mini-split. I was transferred to a gentleman named Terry and we set a time to have him come out and check out the area needing the mini-splits. Terry came out on time and was very knowledgeable with all the different systems. I did my research ahead of time on minisplit units and told him I was very interested in the Mitsubishi units with hyperheat inverter. He took some measurements and then told me he would get the quote to me within a week. He didn't try to sell me something I didn't want (but we did discuss options). About a week later, I actually got 2 different quotes as I was expecting. I then applied for Avista loan program and was eventually approved (great program by the way). Terry called me a few times during this process to see how everything was going. Everything was on track until I was ready to set up an install date. I kept calling Terry's cell phone (the number he gave me) to tell him I was approved and to set up an install date. I kept getting through to his answering machine and left multiple messages. About a week later, after not hearing from him, I decided to call R & R Heating and got the receptionist again who told me he had resigned due to health problems. The receptionist took down my information and told me to be expecting a call from another guy who will be taking over my install. Terry was very helpful and gave me a VERY reasonable quote which is why I chose to stick with R & R. All of this appeared to be an isolated incident and I preferred to give the benefit of the doubt.

The same day I talked with the receptionist and she took down my number, I got a call back from Randy H. Randy heard about all the trouble I was experiencing and really took the time to hear my concerns and make sure the rest of my experience was without problems. His communication was WONDERFUL and he made sure my original proposal was honored (which, again, was a VERY reasonable price). That is when I decided to also have them put in my water heater that I was needing too. Randy went through the house again, took some more pictures and said he would have a quote to me shortly. A few days later he had the quote written up and sent to me. He also had dates for electrician and plumber to come out. He kept in contact on a regular basis and everything went smoothly.

We were not home the two days they installed everything because I could not get the time off work. So we left them a key. If they had problems or needed permission for things, they gave me a call. On one of the calls they reported that they heard water running downstairs in our mechanical room and ran down to see what it was. They found a pipe that somehow got unconnected from my Water Softener system that was installed 6 months ago by a different company. They turned the water off to that system (bypassed it so I could still have water) and suggested I call that company to fix it. When that company came to fix the water softener pipe they found that they had originally installed a faulty piping piece. Had R & R not been there to turn off the water my basement would have been flooded and there would have been a lot of water damage. I was very fortunate!

Randy H. and R & R went above and beyond to make sure my experience with them was the best. I am glad I stuck with them despite the original problem. They really care about making their customers happy and doing a good job!  I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone and will use them again if I need something else done. Thank you R & R and thank YOU Randy!

They were professional and punctual and fixed the issue quickly. I would use them again and would
recommend them. I am not an expert on pricing in this area, so I am not
sure what kind of deal I received. One thing I was curious about is a
military discount, I saw that someone else received one. Being a military person I would have been interested.I signed up and
paid for their plan to come out in the summer and next winter to
service the AC and furnace. I was told they would call in the next week
to schedule this. I called them after the week had passed to schedule
it. Not a big deal, but after paying for it, I wanted to make sure I did
not forget to do it.

It took to long to get the entire job completed.
But it was not their fault (I believe) that the new parts ordered were defective and it was during the busiest time of the year.
The weather also played a negative factor in the ability of the techs. to do the installation any quicker.
All in all, I'm glad I purchased the extended (warranty) maintenance contract on this device.
In retrospect, I wish they could have gotten the unit fixed sooner. But I do understand and would use them again.
p.s. My dogs liked the techs. because the techs. were friendly to them.

You had a concern about the time it took to get the parts and complete the repair. Our technicians want to get you up and running absolutely as quickly as possible once we are able to diagnose the problem. If we don't have a part on hand needed for a repair, we order it immediately or pick it up locally if it can be found in town. In your case, the part was ordered right away, and as soon as it arrived, we were back over there to complete the repair. We sincerely appreciate your business and look forward to being there for you next time you need us. Thank you!"

Called several local companies for an A/C estimate for relative's house.  Unfortunately it was during a local heat wave, a very busy time for A/C contractors.  They had to reschedule the first appointment due to overbooking, but were able to make it the next day and were on-time for all subsequent visits.  Their estimate was lower than two other outfits, but it was for a 2.5 ton unit rather than a 3.0 ton unit the others had specified.  I asked them to come out again to do a more involved load calculation to ensure we were getting the proper sized unit and they quickly complied and confirmed that the 2.5 unit was the proper size (bigger unit might have  been inefficient due to "short-cycling").  Confirmed the purchase and they set an install date 2 weeks later (remember the heat wave?).  Then they called back a day or two later and said they could fit the installation in the schedule for that Saturday, only 4 days after purchase.  Install was quick and efficient.  Relatives were extremely happy to have cold air so quickly!  They installed a Trane unit which included an extended labor warranty coverage period and gave us a military discount to boot!  We also use R&R for annual service for our own furnace and A/C systems and they have always been prompt, courteous and efficient.
Response from R&R Heating & Air Conditioning
"Thanks for the great feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your comments! Selecting the right size of system is critical to maximum efficiency - bigger is not always better. We hear about situations like what you described often, where other companies will quote a system that's not the right size - often too big - which not only would cost you more upfront but also means lower efficiency. We're so glad you allowed us to do our usual, thorough analysis prior to estimating so we could be sure you were getting exactly what you need. Good luck with the new system, thanks again for the nice review, and let us know next time you need us!"

The guy kept trying to sell us a heat pump when we clearly we wanted central air conditioning. He kept blabbering on and on and on about his honesty which got very annoying. When he called to do a follow up and I let him know that we had decided to go with a different company he got very rude with me and actually hung up on me.
Response from R&R Heating & Air Conditioning
"Thanks for the positive rating, and for your feedback. We are an honest and reputable company, and we don't just say it, we back it up. Your point is well taken, sometimes it's not as effective to hear this message from us. Rather than take our word for it, do a search for "reviews R&R Heating & Air Conditioning" and read what our customers have to say about us. We only want you to be satisfied and to be well taken care of. The performance and effectiveness of your new system relies heavily on 1) picking the right size & type of equipment and 2) installing it correctly. We're confident you won't find anyone else more qualified in these areas, and we stand behind all the work we do. If you decided to go with another option, we wish you well and invite you to still think of us if and when you require service on it. Our service department is responsive, certified, and available 24 hours to repair or maintain any equipment regardless of brand or if we installed it originally. Good luck!"

This specific time they came because our furnace would not turn on.  Problem was owner related but they never made us feel stupid ---- when truly we were!  Still he did a complete inspection while he was here to make sure there wouldn't be any other problems that winter.  I love that I can leave a message on their website 24/7 for them to contact me in addition to getting 10% off for doing it!  Always check their website for specials.      They get you into the schedule quickly.  Schedulers and workman are always very professional.    They offer several options when you need to replace equipment and take the time explaining in "plain" terms why you need the repair.  We will continue to use them for both repair needs and annual maintenance.

Started off bad.  Dispatcher called and said they need to reschedule. We agreed. Tech called to confirm appointment. I tried to give him directions and let him know the GPS would take him to the wrong place. He said he doesn't need directions he know's how to find it.Later he called and was lost and needed directions. He was rude and wanted to argue with me.
Once he got here he poured water in to the condensation pump and verified it was bad. (spent less than 5 minutes)He then said it would be $89.00 for telling us it was bad even though we already told them it was bad. The pump would be $163. (found brand new one online for $60)He then told us it would be another $97 for the preventative maintenance.
When we scheduled the appointment we were told it would be $97 for the preventative maintenance and they would look at the pump.
Since he was trying to charge more than was agree on we told him to stop and not do anything. He then was emailing the company to see what he should do. This went on for almost an hour.
We called in to the office and they said the $97 dollars would cover the maintenance and looking at the pump. The tech is in our home telling us that they make them charge the diagnostic fee first then the maintenance...
Since we were getting two different stories and the whole thing seemed like they were trying to take advantage of us we just wanted him to leave. He was at our house for over an hour and only did 5 minutes of work.
Finally the office agreed not to charge us and he could just leave.Apparently they didn't tell the tech that because he was still going to charge us until we told him Matt at the office said if we wanted him to pack up and leave they wouldn't charge us.
Response from R&R Heating & Air Conditioning
"Member, we apologize you felt like our service was anything less than spectacular. Our goal is 100% satisfaction and it appears we weren’t able to make that happen for you in this instance. At the core of your issue seems to be confusion between a diagnostic and maintenance. If a system is down/not working properly, we must diagnose the problem before knowing how to proceed with possible repairs. This is where our $89 diagnostic fee comes into play. At that point we provide a clear estimate on repairs, answer any questions you have, and let you direct us how you’d like to proceed. The limited time $97 summer tune-up special included a comprehensive checkup and cleaning of your AC, heat pump or furnace. It was not intended to be a diagnostic and/or repair for a non-functioning system. Rather, its purpose was to help maintain your system to avoid such issues in the future. Annual maintenance is an important step in keeping your system running efficiently, reliably, and extend its lifespan. We’re particularly troubled that you felt at any point we were rude to you or trying to take advantage of you. That is certainly not the case. We have built and sustained our solid reputation by consistently providing top quality service and earning repeat business and acquiring customer referrals. Word of mouth is our best form of advertising. We don’t think you’ll find a more reputable, honest, and quality HVAC contractor out there than us and we would love to see you give us a second chance. Your business is important to us and we look forward to being there for you next time you need us."

Jason Denman from R&R came to my house to understand the existing system and determine the work that needed to be done. Jason and I exchanged phone calls, and I provided him with some pictures from the house construction that showed locations of some of the system components. After talking with others at R&R, he identified what needed to be done and provided a quote for the work.

Jason came back the day before the scheduled work to make additional measurements and ensure that they would have all the parts needed for the installation.

On the day the system was to be installed, the electrician came first and installed the line from the service box to where the boiler would be located. Two installers arrived on time and spent most of the day installing the system and ensuring both the hot water heater and new boiler worked effectively. They were friendly and efficient. They found some problems with the original installation and fixed them so the system worked properly.

The boiler I was originally quoted was unavailable, so R&R provided a different, more expensive one without additional charge to me.

I've been using the new system for about a month, and everything has worked perfectly.

This was one of the simplest and most satisfying experiences I have had in dealing with a contractor, and I would highly recommend R&R heating.
