The distance from watermeter to house is apprx 250 ft which the Bellevue Water found by reading the comsumption of water in the 2 months, I was told that they could not recommend anyone so I looked on Angies list and the American Leak Detecion company had high rating and were very highly recommended so I hired them to find the leak. I first of all called a number of plumber to ask what I needed to do and they also recommended the ALD. They were very helpful and professional and said they could get David out 1/28.. to be really honest, I had them scheduled to come out on Friday 1/25 but one plumbing company said on the phone they could find the leak and fix it too, so I cancelled David..the plumbing company came out and I was informed by the guy that they only detect for leaks in Sewers, not water..so I called to get David to come out that day but he was booked until Monday 1/28. He came out and tried for 2hrs and said he coouldn't find it and it was getting dark so said he could come back on 1/30 and felt sure that he now could find it.1/30 he was here on time, and found the spot and marked a 21/2'X21/2and quot; area and I paid him. Got a kind neighbor to come and dig down to 32and quot;, no pipe or leak...I called the ALD company and they could not come on Friday but not until Monday2/4..I am a retiree and older so I was freaked. So II found by digging following the wateline from the house to about4-5'out, I saw it was metal so of course my feeling was that it would have to be all replaced for about $8-15,000 so I waited for ADL to come 2/4 and David found the leak just beyond where I had dug..now I called the Plumbing Co to come and replace the metal water line from the house to the leak. I must say that David assured me it would be metal to a plastic line and HE WAS RIGHT..Thank you David!!

Punctual-indicated they would be at our house between 11-1 and they showed up at 11:02. They inspected our basement and indicated they thought the leak was coming from the downspout. Since it was something as easy as the downspout, they didn't charge us (they could have easily charged us the $695 for what they did). They provided us some pointers on how to get rid of the problem which we appreciated as first time homebuyers. Also checked our water meters and sump pump.

The representative showed up a bit late, but with traffic the way it is around here I don't know how anyone can get anywhere in a predictable amount of time. It took a bit of investigating and walking around to examine the usual suspects. The leak was located successfully. I wish I had called sooner and not wasted a lot of time prowling around on my own.

I was notified by my water district last Friday afternoon that my water usage was 20x higher than normal usage and that my water bill was already several thousands of dollars significantly higher then my usual $85 per month water bill. It was quickly determined through the help of the water district that the substantial water leak was located somewhere between my house and the water meter, approximately 30' from point to point. No standing or bubbling water was visible anywhere in the yard nor did we locate any wet or soft ground. The water district suggested I turn off the water from the meter and have repairs performed immediately. I then searched on Angie's list for plumbers and one of the plumbers I called referred me to American Leak Detection. I called American Leak Detection's emergency line on Friday and Saturday to request emergency services in locating the leak so I could schedule water line repairs. During both calls the operator/customer service person stated a technician would be contacting me shortly. I did not receive any return calls from American Leak Detection until Monday around 11:00 am. By that time, I had called Clearwater Leak Detection and the owner Simon Calis was already at my home working the problem. Simon patiently explained the processes he uses to locate water leaks and identified the source of the leak in my yard within an hour. American Leak Detection could learn a great deal about good customer service from Simon and Clearwater Leak Detection.

Our water bill kept going up so we had American Leak Detection come out to find the underground leak. The first thing they did was to check the water meter. They said the leak wasn't large enough to detect with their equipment so no charge. Otherwise it would have been $600 for our long water line. If it gets worse we will have them back. They told us what to look for on the meter. Meanwhile we change the guts of two toilets so hopefully that will be all we need.

I called American Leak Detection to find a leak in the supply line between my water meter and house. They came out the same day I called and located the leak within about an hour. I paid the $450 fee, which was quoted to me over the phone before they came out. They located the leak in an area where I did not expect the leak to be, so they saved me a lot of trial-and-error digging. I wish I had called them sooner.

We had a water leak that was causing a very high water bill. Water meter was spinning even when we weren't using any water in the house. A plumber investigated and determined that the leak was probably in an underground line between the water meter and the house. Instead of digging up the entire yard to find the source of the leak, the plumber recommended we call American Leak Detection to find the precise spot of the leak. We called American Leak Detection on Monday, and they were able to come to the house the next day. The technician quickly determined that the leak was definitely in an underground line and he marked the exact spot so that our plumber would know where to dig to find the damaged pipe. When the plumber came out the next day, it turned out that the leak was in the precise spot that American Leak Detection marked. I was very happy with the responsiveness and the accuracy of American Leak Detection. They made it much easier for the plumber to locate and fix the damaged pipe. I would definitely recommend them!

They were able to determine the entry points for the water. They were easily able to fix the problem.

It went very well, I called the company after discovering that we had a water leak. Our water bill was triple the average and we called the city and they determined that it was not inside the house but from the main line to the house. I spoke with some one immediately at the company and it was arranged for Charlie to come out I believe the next day. He was on time and quickly set about setting up for his inspection. He inspected our crawl space, thankfully, and discovered that we had agreat deal of water because our sump pump had stopped working evidently some time ago.Charlie then, using their efficient method located the source of the leak in a pipe running under the agregate walkway to the garage.He recommended a company that he felt could do the repair and also help with the sum pump and crawl space issue.The whole process was quite efficient and quick. He was very personable and helpful, and although I thought their base rate of 500. seemed a bit high for the work done and amount of time that it took they located it in a short amount of time and with no damage or destruction to do it. And we were able to get on with fixing the problem quickly plus he discovered the water problem in the crawl space which might have gone undiscoverd for a long time.

Service line leak between the water meter and the house, 25 feet of which runs under the front sidewalk/front steps. After trying to find the leak myself, American Leak Detection was recommended; an appointment was set for the next day. Charlie arrived on time and located the leak (under 4 inch concrete and 4 feet of clay!) within 2-3 inches of where the leak was finally confirmed.. In 20 minutes, he located the leak I couldn't find after two days of digging.

They were punctual and found the leak. I fixed it myself. I paid them the money and they were on their way.

Overall, I think it went well, he was very detailed and helped to rule out what my leak was not caused from.

I received a knock on our door this morning from the City of Kirkland's water meter crew. They alerted me to the fact that our water usage was registering much higher than average. After turning off the valve within the house, it became apparent that there was a leak in the water inlet pipe somewhere between the street and our home. I immediately searched for leak detection vendors on the Angie's List website, and decided to call American Leak Detection. They didn't answer the phone, but I left a message, and my call was returned within an hour. As it happened, they could schedule the service the same day, so I agreed to an arrival window of 11am-1pm. The technician, Charlie, arrived at 12:25pm and successfully completed the job within an hour. Charlie was helpful and courteous. After discussing the symptoms of the leak and the work involved, he quickly shut off the necessary valves and hooked his air tank up to the downstairs bathroom faucet. Within ten minutes, he'd located the leak and was even able to demonstrate the spot where air was escaping from the pipe. Fortunately, the leak appears to be in a section of the pipe that is relatively accessible. Charlie explained ahead of time that his company identifies leaks, but does not repair them. However, with this step out of the way, we should be able to have it repaired within a week.

They charged us exactly what they quoted us. They said if they were unable to detect the leak they would only charge us for a service charge. I couldn't be more pleased with the service we got from them.

They were right on with finding the leaks. We would have dug for years and not found them. They were professional and on time. They were knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. The price was reasonable.

John came out and was able to show me what happened. Didn't take much time, so he didn't charge me. Made some recommendations as to what I could do that would prevent it in the future. (Water leaked in through a crack in the foundation).

Neither we nor the plumber were able to locate our leak so, at the advice of the plumber, we called American Leak Detection. He showed up as scheduled and in 17 minutes had located and marked the underground leak location. It seemed to us that that was a pretty good hourly wage, but my water district says the equipment is major expensive. The company even sent us a receipt in the mail so I could use it to claim an adjustment of my water bill if I wished.

We made an appointment with American Leak Detection after getting water in our basement from a big rain. We had to wait several weeks, but had heard glowing reviews that if we had a leak they would find it. When John arrived, we had a brief discussion and he quickly determined that since we had figured out our leak was not related to drainage he would not be able to determine the cause. Thankfully he did not charge us their automatic fee of $450 for coming out. We appreciated his candor and his not charging us, but wished they had asked more questions about the job when we called to set up the appointment. If they had, it could have been ascertained that they couldn't help us. They wouldn't have had to waste an appointment and we wouldn't have waited three weeks before trying to find someone else who could help us.

David worked for nearly two hours to find the leak and he did find it close to the house. He marked the spot and said he would come back if needed. We hired two excavators to dig close to where he marked but it still wasn't found after digging down four feet. We called David on his cell phone and he came the next day and checked again and showed us exactly where the leak was--even further down...nearly eight feet. David was true to his word and we recommend him highly.

I was given an appointment window of 11am to 1pm and Curtis was polite enough to call around noon, to let me know he would arrive 1pm, which he did. He was polite, friendly and very helpful in explaining what he was doing, and what options were available to me, once he identified the source of my water problem.

THEY WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXTREMELY THOROUGH. THEY WORKED WELL WITH OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND COMMUNICATED ALL PERTINENT INFORMATION TO US. ALL ISSUES WERE RESOLVED QUICKLY.

THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THIS COMPANY DID A FANTASTIC JOB LOCATING SEVERAL LEAKS THAT WE KNEW WE HAD BECAUSE OF EVIDENCE OF WATER DAMAGE, BUT WE COULDN'T FIND THE LEAKS. THEY LEFT US WITH A VERY THOROUGH REPORT INCLUDING PICTURES AND ALSO ADVISED US OF THE APPROPRIATE REPAIRS NEEDED.
