About us

Seattle Sustainable Landscapes is a family-owned business operated by David & Nicolette McCary. Let us introduce ourselves. We are born and raised Seattleites that met while attending the University of Washington. David was raised in Kirkland, and spent his summers growing up digging ditches for the family irrigation-focused landscaping business. He ran at the collegiate level while completing a math degree at the UW. Nicolette grew up near the Puget Sound in Des Moines, WA. After attending Holy Names Academy on Cap Hill, she pursued a degree in Oceanographic Sciences at the UW, and is a twice published researcher surrounding conservation in the nearshore environment. We love this city and are thrilled to drive sustainability in the landscaping industry by creating your ideal, beautiful, functional, and sustainable landscapes! Our team brings 20+ years of experience with landscape construction & maintenance. We look forward to working with you!

I reached out to Seattle Sustainable Landscapes to see if I might possibly be in their service area for a residential landscape design even though I'm in Tacoma. I'd been having trouble finding a landscaping company that had sustainability as a main principal so I was casting a wider net. David responded right away and let me know upfront that they weren't able to travel that far south, but he was able to suggest a company in my area that I ended up really liking and contracting with. He also sent me another message with additional resources and organizations I could look through. I really appreciated his promptness, honesty, and the fact he took the time to help me even though I wasn't able to become a client. Thank you!
