It went fine. They were timely, answered questions, helped us understand the sewage ejector pump; were very helpful.
Description of Work: They came out and put in new pipes to facilitate the works of a modern washing machine. They removed the basin it drained in and re-routed it directly to the drain.

We contacted O'Neill after two other plumbers had looked at our sewer line. We did not realize at first that we lacked a clean out and the first plumber did not have the equipment to install one. We contacted the company he recommended but not only were they too busy to schedule us quickly, when we contacted them the receptionist insisted the cost would be at least $3000 just to install the sewer clean out. The person who looked at the situation estimated $500 for the sewer clean out but recommended it be installed outside instead for $1200. We found O'Neill on Angie's List and contacted them. They could come almost right away. Nelson looked at our pipe and estimated about $400 to install the clean out and snake the line. Unfortunately, the line was very blocked all the way to the street. Nelson worked diligently to get the line cleared and ultimately had to power scrub it. He also scoped it and showed me where he was before he used the power scrubber and after he finished. While the line is in good condition, he found one break that is somewhat blocking the pipe. This will be our next project.
Description of Work: Installed a drain clean out for the sewer and cleaned out the sewer line.

First, I liked the idea that scheduling time for the estimate also meant they could actually do the work right then if I liked the estimate. On purpose, I scheduled their estimate last, so I could do an on the spot comparison. I liked the way the plumber, Peter, approached the washing machine drainage problem, giving me several fixes with different costs and/or outcomes, such that I could easily weigh factors in deciding. He came with an assistant, Brian, so that saved time and money by allocating tasks according to skill level. Both were excellent. I was most impressed by the way Peter did two other things: significantly improved our cold water flow to the kitchen sink (not on the original agenda and something other plumbers had not been able to fix, for whatever reason) by taking care of a problem pipe he saw near the refrigerator plumbing site. Second was the way he explained how the water inflow to our washing machine was being reduced by rust deposits and then proceeded to clean those out on the spot, something entirely extra to the estimate. Finally, he told us a couple of other things to watch for in the future. I know very little about plumbing, but came away from this experience knowing a few more things about how it works in our house. All of the above came in about $50 over the estimate, which for fixing three additional problems (there was also different fix needed for pipes leading to the refrigerator plumbing than in the original estimate), I consider excellent.
Description of Work: We got an estimate for two things; one was installation of a water line to a new refrigerator and the other involved redirection of the washing machine drain by putting in new pipes. In the process, the plumber discovered three other problems which were fixed, two resulting from shoddy previous work and the third from our own ignorance about maintenance.

Britt answered the phone and scheduled the visit at my preferred time. She clearly explained the pricing policy. Steve showed up right on time, asked for an overview of the problem, and after asking a few questions, decided how to fix the drainage problem. In the process of cabling the line, he took a few minutes to unclog a sink drain so that he could send more water down the pipe as he worked. After he wrapped up, he cleaned the work area, and sealed the drain line (the previous seal was no longer effective). He asked whether the charges had been explained when I scheduled the work, and then provided an receipt for the expected amount. While the cost seems steep for an hour of work (approx. $190), this appears to be the going rate for this service. That said, I was very pleased with the ONeill staff, and the service they provided. Nearly 3 weeks later, the problem has not re-occurred. Based on my experience with both Britt and Steve, I certainly recommend ONeill Plumbing Company for drain line cleaning needs.
Description of Work: Cabled main sewer line. The line was not backed up at the time, but had been backing up into the floor drain in the basement when a lot of water was used in the house. Steve cabled out 100-feet of line, two times. He pulled back roots the first time, but none on the second trip. The line was open and taking water after cabling.

Plumber was very friendly and professional and worked quickly. Called when he was running ahead of schedule, showed up when he said he would. Gave me a lot of good information about long term maintenance and how to get my sewer shutoff upgraded by the city. Great about teaching a new homeowner about the systems in my house. Was approachable and happy to work with me on a small job and didn't try to sell services that were over my budget. Also snaked my bathtub as a last minute unscheduled request because he was already here. They bill by the half hour/time and materials rather than fixed bid. But he worked quickly and gave me status updates as he was going.
Description of Work: After a bad experience with another plumber, I called O'Neill Plumbing to do some basic replumbing under my kitchen sink and install new kitchen sink and faucet (parts provided by me). They scheduled a service visit within a half day. The person who scheduled the appointment was thorough, friendly, and very helpful. And even called me the same day to see if I wanted to schedule that day when they had a cancellation.

We had been experiencing water seepage coming from the driveway, which was caused by a burst underground line. We called O'Neill Plumbing (after checking with Angie's List) to schedule an estimate. Their estimator was on vacation, so they sent one of their main plumbers (Nelson, and Brian) to asses the situation. I explained that I needed the old pipes relocated and tied into the main sewer line (as they were tied into we're-not-sure- what). Nelson gave me what I considered a reasonable estimate, and I gave him the nod to schedule the work. He said he could do it right then and there, and proceeded to reroute and add new pipes, and finished the same day (with no surprises). They cleaned up after themselves, and left the place the way they found it (another plus). We are completely satisfied with Nelson, and Brian"s performance so much that we will request them personally to attend to any plumbing needs that we might have in the future.

The service was excellent. Everything was cleaned up as if they were never there. They were very professional and even took a look at our bath tub drain while they were there. Their customer service at the office was exceptional as well.
Description of Work: We had a clogged kitchen drain. I called this morning and they were there and had it fixed by 2:00 the same day. They had to do a deep snaking and replace a part. They then checked under the house to make sure the snake did not damage any pipes.

It went great. I was certain I had diagnosed the problem correctly. However Steve with O'Neill investigated and told me he thought I had a sewer blockage, not a plumbing leak. He sent his camera through my sewer line only to discover that the line was blocked at the curb by a newly installed power pole! He also told me that the power company would probably fix the line themselves at their expense, which they did. I really appreciate Steve's quick and accurate diagnosis of my problem. He did a great job.

Wed hoped to save ourselves the expense of having a plumber come out by attempting to snake the line ourselves, both with our own 25 snake and with a rented 50 snake. We were unsuccessful and called in the pros. Our plumber (I apologize for not having his name in front of me) was competent and thorough. He even gave me a little in-service training in the proper way to snake a line. I hated to shell out the dough but this gentleman made it as painless as possible.
Description of Work: We had a bad blockage in the sewer line leading from our basement toilet. Wed tried snaking it ourselves without success. The gentleman from ONeil Plumbing came and assessed the situation, snaked the line, then replaced the toilet.

I called O'Neill Plumbing at 1pm on a Friday and was able to get an appointment just two hours later. John from O'Neill was prompt and professional. He cleaned out the faucet in two places and explained the cause of the obstructions (galvanized pipe debris and a failing dip tube in the water heater). He examined the water heater and we discussed options.

1. ONeill had no problem with my purchasing the appliance on my own, recognizing that I could find it more cheaply than they could. 2. They were extremely diligent about communicating: on a Friday they said, "Well try to come today if theres room, otherwise lets set a time for Monday." 3. They arrived promptly, did the job cleanly, and explained what they were doing. 4. They found some plumbing peculiarities and explained how I could fix them myself. 5. They were pleasant to deal with. 6. They gave an Angies List discount.

We called them last Monday morning - which was the day we had the most rain (or second most, depending who you listened to) ever, and there were floods all over the place, including at the two corners we would normally use. Despite what I'm sure was a lot of demand for their services, they said they would be out at 8 a.m. the next morning. And they showed up exactly on time! That's a first in our dealings with contractors. They fixed the problem in about 1/2 hour, and accepted the $30 off coupon. Even if we had to pay full price, the rate was very reasonable. And we didn't have to pay a trip charge since we live only 3 blocks from their office.
Description of Work: We had a leak from our tub/shower. The man that came out (sorry - don't recall name) quickly diagnosed that the leak was being caused because the person that installed our glass shower door 2+ years ago did not completely caulk it where it met the tub. He caulked it thoroughly.

My appt. time was 10am with arrival from 10am to 12N. At 11:25am, the scheduler (Britt) called to apologized as plumber was running late; said he should be there in 1/2 hr. At 12:45pm, she called again to say he was delayed but was "on his way". At 1:45pm, he still had not arrived; called back and told they thought he had arrived, tried to radio him unsuccessfully while I remained on hold and then said she would return my call when she had info. About 10 min. later, she called to say he had been located and was on his way--he arrived at 2:20pm. It took him 20 min to replace the flapper. The tub was partially full and but needed more water so he stood and watched it fill (over 5 min) rather than work on other toilet. Once enough water was in tub, it worked with only scant amt. of debris from jets. Knew 2nd toilet needed snake but had to make a trip AGAIN to truck. Labor took 50 min and charged for 1 hr; believe 45 min would have been fair charge if he was organized.
Description of Work: Replace flapper in tank to stop toilet running. Snake toilet for foreign object. Check jetted tub.

The thing I liked most about Peter was he told me what he was doing as he did it. This made me feel comfortable about the installation and that he had a plan and approach for the repair rather than just trying something. He was also very diligent about ensuring no water ran down the wall into the insulation below when he cut the pipe. Once he finished with the PRV installation, he looked at a toilet and made a few repairs which I appreciated.
Description of Work: Peter from O'Neill Plumbing installed a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) and ball valve (shut off valve) inside the house where the city water connects to the plumbing for the rest of the house. He was able to follow the design I created by assembling the PRV, a short connector, and the ball valve, then cutting the inlet pipe at the appropriate place and inserting the PRV and valve assembly. He did this through a 17" x 10-1/2" hole in the drywall.

John took a look around and we tested a few things and he discovered the leaks were caused by old worn out faucet valves. So he rebuilt them and looked at the downstairs shower and suggested caulking around the drain once the shower was dry enough. Gave me an estimate for replacing a slow toilet then looked in side the tank and suggested replacing the flap and fixing the handle and chain. All in all a great job, timely, friendly and when it comes time to remodel our bathrooms we will be calling them. They may be a little spendy. Would you rather go cheap and find yourself calling again to get it fixed or would you rather pay a little more and get it right the first time? I will hire them again. Now if they could only do furnaces.
Description of Work: I called to have a few things fixed and to get an estimate on a few other things, since were not quite ready to remodel the bathrooms yet. The main problem was I had a leaky upstairs tub that had damaged the drywall in the lower bathroom.

Everyone was courteous and efficient. The plumber showed up at the promised time, and cleaned up after himself. All the parts we needed were on the truck, and the plumber was happy to reuse the used parts deemed in good shape. All of the plumbing issues in our 1920's house were fixed or deemed not worth fixing. I'm very satisfied. Even though the price is high, the quality of the workmanship seems excellent.
