Hans Plumbing

First, the good. Justin, the owner of Hans' Plumbing, is punctual and responsive. The quality of the work is solid, and I don't expect any issues. Unfortunately, my opinion on other aspects of the work is different. First, I think the company should really be named "Organic free-range artisanal plumbing". Why you ask? Well, two reasons. Price of materials, and price of labor. For example, the pressure reducing valve, which is available for me to purchase at my local plumbing supply stores, Amazon, and PlumbingSupply, and has an average price of $140, was billed at $280. That's because Justin uses list price vs. actual cost of components. Second, the hourly rates used are what I'd have expected to pay for an emergency plumber. The service charge, which includes the first 30 minutes of labor was a flat $149. But that only covers Justin, and he also has an apprentice. That 30 minutes of apprentice time is an extra $27, for a combined $176 + tax. But not to worry, there is a different rate after that. That would be $136/hour for Justin + $55/hour for his apprentice, for a total of $191 hourly. With tax added on, you're looking at a solid $210/hour. The only way I can justify this to myself is by believing that the work was done with only the finest grass-fed copper pipe. I assume that the work done must also double as an art installation that I can show off to visitors. After all, I certainly paid for it.

Justin was great. Punctual, professional, knowledgeable, respectful. Will hire again. Felt a little pricey but I think that is just plumbing work, I believe the cost was competitive and the work was excellent so no hesitation in recommending Justin from Hans Plumbing.

Jamie was able to come earlier than planned, which was great. He listened to our needs, reviewed the problems, and completed the repairs quickly and professionally. His knowledge provides confidence and we will definitely call Hans' Plumbing again.

Justin was on time, personable, communicative, and efficient. He clearly explained my options and answered all my questions. The cost was less than I expected and I learned a lot from him as he responded to my questions. I will definitely use him again. (I have never said this about a plumber before.)

Given the emergent nature of our issue, I was pleasantly surprised when Hans was able to arrive the day we called. He came in and was able to diagnose the problem in short order and unclog the drain. He then took the time to go into our crawl space and examine the piping in our house (which is a 1906 home). He then took the time to discuss with me some structural issues he saw that did not need to be addressed at this moment but that I might want to consider in the long run. No sales pressure, just the facts. When the job was done and I asked the cost, he indicated there was no cost. His company had been out a few weeks earlier to investigate the washer backing up and he considered this job to be part of the warranty on the previous job (even though this second clog was likely caused by my wife's overzealous use of the garbage disposal). Overall, I thought they went above and beyond to both squeeze us into their busy schedule and then to do the job for free including spending the extra time to help me better understand the plumbing set up in my own. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!

Jaime was great! He arrived on time, listened to all of our problems and got started right away. He offered options on what we should do and cost was at least 1/3 of what Marshawn Lynch's plumbing would have charged us. And, when we noticed a previously undiscovered leak later that evening, Jaime returned promptly the next day and fixed it at minimal cost. We are very happy with Hans Plumbing and would definitely use them again for our plumbing needs.

Jamie (one of the three plumbers who I am told work for Hans' Plumbing) called the night before to make sure he knew what supplies to bring on the truck. In the morning he was exactly on time. He went right to work, assessed the situation carefully, didn't rush, but didn't delay either. We had a slightly unusual situation in that he had to move the water input to a reverse osmosis system to get the new faucet installed. The existing kitchen faucet was also rusted in place and he had to get a saw to cut through various pieces to get it out. The tub faucet was over 20 years old but he knew exactly what cartridge was needed.

I also had them at my parents' house to look at a toilet and a faucet with water flow issues. He took a look and advised replacing the faucet if it got too bad for us to stand. The toilet had two issues; he quickly fixed the flapper, then gave some options on the section issue including and quot;ignore it for now.and quot; I chose to ignore it, and I appreciated that Jamie didn't try to push a fix when it wasn't necessary.

The rate was not cheap but not outrageous either. Plumbers are expensive, period, but I felt like I got good service for my money.

Overall: honest assessments, quick work, everything is working at not leaking at this moment. Seems good!

They were good that they were very quick in responding and they also saved us money while they were working. They replaced what they were supposed to replace and they didn't do the part where it's broken because it will just cause more money and with that, they were so honest.

We had a 12 year water heater that came when we bough the house that we wanted to replace before it started leaking. We contacted Hans Plumbing via email and they were pretty responsive to me asking tons of questions. We finally settled in a Rheem 10 year electric hot water heater, which Hans Plumbing would provide and installed. On the day of service, Justin showed up slightly early (an amazing feat since most contractors seem to show up an hour late) and knocked out the job in 90 minutes. He took the time to explain to me how the new hot water heater worked, left everything exactly as he found it, and it was like one minute we had one heater and the next minute we had a new one with no real signs of anyone having been there other than the fact that I now had two seismic straps on the unit rather than one to bring it up to code. All in all, everything appears to be functioning and the price ended up being $100 less than the original quote.

each job was different, done professionally and on time. He usually can come out the same day. Scheduling is very easy

Very well. I was also able to call Hans on how to install an air gap (a safety feature he recommended) and he walked me through some troubleshooting as it kept failing at first (causing a big mess until I followed his advice).

A bathroom sink drain in our house was almost completely blocked and resisted my amateur attempts at clearing. Based on Angie's List recommendations I really wanter to use a particular Seattle drain cleaning specialist, but they do not service Kirkland. However, they recommended Hans, the Seattle shop owner's brother. I called Hans and was given a surprisingly precise appointment time that fit my schedule, and a firm quote. They arrived on time (actually about 20 minutes early) and cleared the drain promptly. The charge (maybe a bit on the high side, but certainly not outrageous) was exactly as quoted.

Very friendly and professional. Got right to work and was completed within 90 minutes.

He is friendly and courteous. He does a good job. I think that his prices are fair.

He has performed admirably for us, responsive, informative and the work is done right the first time! What more could you ask?

Hans is extremely professional, and is a pleasure to work with. I am not someone who gives praise too easily, however Hans is very easy to give a high recommendation to. He is very smart and great at what he does. I would never call anyone but Hans first. I trust his judgement and believe he is a person of very high integrity. He is one of the few service people I would trust with the keys to my house.

Hans did the work himself. Showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the problem - leaking wax seal on toil and did the replacement, including making modifications that will prevent the problem in the future. Good job!

His job was flawless. He is courteous (i.e. calls when he will be there), punctual and offers quality at a good price.

Response to our initial inquiry was excellent. The day of the appointment however Hans was 30 minuets late. Hans was successful in repairing both toilets and did a good job of explaining the root cause. Hans is experienced and professional. The service call fee for a non-emergency scheduled appointment however seems a little high.
