Dallas Watson Flooring

We are in the middle of our 2nd project with Dallas Watson, both with Laura VanBrunt as our designer. We were very happy with the guidance and high quality work on our first project, so went straight back to DW the next time we needed flooring & tile. We have recommended them to family & friends. Two especially notable parts of our experience: 1) Excellent customer service. Laura was always available for us by email/text/phone, and met us in person at the DW showroom, our project site, and our residence- whatever was needed. 2) Conscientious installers. The folks who installed our flooring & tile took pride in their work and made suggestions on a few details that we didn't think about but probably would have regretted afterwards had they not brought them to our attention. I think that's a true tell for what you're getting with DW: everyone, through all parts of the business, is working to ensure a great end result. Project #1: updating downtown condo prior to selling Laura helped select wood flooring, carpet, countertops and paint that all coordinated with each other and uplifted our 8-year-old unit to the look prevalent in brand new buildings. This was our first time working without a general contractor, but Laura made it easy by coordinating schedules for everything, including with our painter. As unexpected details popped up during the project, Laura helped us figure out the best design choices and the finished product was really quite stunning. Our home sold very quickly for a great price, and we are confident that the high quality work on the upgrades was key to that outcome. Project #2: updating 100-year-old Capitol Hill condo Laura helped us with all major rooms: wood flooring in the living room & bedroom, tile flooring in the bathroom & kitchen and a new bathroom tub/shower tile surround. As in Project #1 she also helped us think through paint colors to coordinate with all the new wood & tile surfaces. The bathroom tile work is finished and looks fantastic, helped along by the installers pointing out some tile pattern issues that we had not fully thought through.

The final results in everything were top notch plus. And the prices were great. The only issues were with scheduling. The stairway team was late and actually did not know they were supposed to be here until we called the office wondering where they were. There had been a scheduling issue which Dallas Watson owned up to, apologized profusely for and compensated us for. They still finished it on the day it was due and sent their best installer to make sure it got done. They were very sorry for the mistake and I had no doubt it was just one of those things. A few weeks later they did the kitchen floor and it was super. There was some mutual mis-communication about one of the finishes we thought we had requested. We were super happy because we brought it up and even though it was partly our fault, Dallas Watson did not try to push it back on us (as they could have) but went ahead made everything right at their expense. The workers were really nice and super careful not to cause a mess and be as clean and quiet as they could. And the prices were very good. It turned out they had to do WAY more work than anticipated to get to the base of our kitchen to put the marmoleum down. But even though it took more work from them, they held true to the quote. I thought there was no way they could stick to their bid but they did. They did not hesitate or suggest we should pay more. The staff was super nice. I would definitely use them again. Even though they ended up staying later than I had planned for, I felt very comfortable leaving them in the house when I had to run errands Highly recommend this company. They are open to listening to suggestions and addressing any concerns. The work was excellent.

We are extremely happy with the work done by Dallas Watson! We got multiple quotes, and for the individual jobs listed above, Dallas Watson was a little more expensive than the other quotes (because they have some minimums for certain things), but once we decided to go ahead and complete all 3 jobs at once, their quote was the most affordable. But that doesn't mean the quality was skimped! Our 50-year old hardwood floors now look like new, and the new hardwood they added matches perfectly, including a couple of damaged patches throughout. We were also very happy with the communication, and they stuck to both the quote and the timeline provided in the beginning. We would not hesitate to hire Dallas Watson again.

I was searching for a tile contactor and seeing this company name made me made all over again.  Terrible experience - intimidating Russian or Ukrainian workers who could barely speak English, seemed to dislike us, on the house being refinished they used highly toxic Swedish finish, on a house we had fastidiously used non-toxic materials on.  Dallas had an "oh well" attitude, he did lower the price somewhat but it was a very bad experience.  Do not use this contractor.

The entire team did an excellent job. They identified what was needed, quoted fairly (compared to other quotes), had helpful suggestions on options, and completed the jobs on time.
They were willing to work with a tight schedule around a holiday and move-in date. They did an excellent, beautiful job of refinishing the floors and repairing some damaged floor.
The only complaints were (1) they failed to keep us appraised of when the floors would be safe to walk on again. A couple of days after their reported completion date, we called them looking for any update on the status and they said it had been completed a few days before and was already set. That lack of communication was a bit annoying.
(2) there was an apparent miscommunication on the initial quote, which they said was based on us selecting an "average price carpet". But when we actually selected an "average price carpet" (according to the price range at the supply warehouse) they had to bump up the price of the job. It was a FAIR price still, but knowing exactly what price-per-square-foot was being estimated on the initial quote would have helped greatly.

Dallas showed me samples of linoleum and allowed me to bring them home, so could choose the one that looked best in my kitchen.   Ivan did a great job with the installation of the linoleum and baseboard in the kitchen.  Vladamir and his wife did a wonderful job of sanding and refinishing the hardwood floor.  It looks like new.

The work on sight was almost all expertly done. There were issues with ordering of the hardwood, though that was the fault of suppliers, however this is a small company and so their access to suppliers is necessarily more limited than some of the larger corporate flooring companies. The personal service feel is the trade off that makes the extra time in ordering worth it. Once the install began the biggest problems arose from poor communication and lack of familiarity with the our specific needs on the part of the project manager. I would think that in order to avoid misunderstandings a project manager would visit a site at least once, but this was not the case and nearly every mistake in ordering and manpower seemed to arise from this disconnect. Everything came out okay and if you're someone who enjoys micromanaging you will probably mesh just fine with this company. If you want to be hands-off and let it all be taken care of by them, be prepared for stutters and starts as the workers battle with the uninformed office, however it is likely the finished product will be of superior quality.

Of the three contractors I contacted Dallas Watson was the only one to actually show up for an initial appointment and provide a quote.  The whole experience was great from beginning to end.  They consistently showed up for appointments and completed work on time.  The workmanship was excellent.  I only met one of their employees in person, but he was knowledgeable & professional.  No complaints.

Dallas and company did a great job, we had pulled all the carpet ourselves and prepped it for install.  Turned out our IPE was extremely hard which they informed us of but were able to finish the job in the time they quoted and with no issues.  Seven years later they still look great and continue, are exceptionally quiet and hold up to our daily abuse.

Jason was very prompt in providing an estimate after coming to our house to see what services we needed completed.  Since we were on a tight deadline with our move, they were also diligent to get us scheduled promptly.  They completed the job in three days (about 1400 sq. feet). 
They used a dustless system, which did help keep the sawdust remains to a minimum.  The only issues we had with Dallas Watson was that for the boards they replaced, they used the wrong oak.  Luckily they are along the wall and covered by furniture, but had they been in a more essential location, it would be noticeable.  They also accidentally put a hole through our drywall in one of the bedrooms.  We came home to discover this and contacted Jason immediately (who was not onsite for the work).  He immediately repaired the wall and did a thorough walkthrough where he discovered they had also splintered a couple of our quarter rounds.  He also replaced those at his own cost. 
Despite the issues we encountered, Jason was very easy to work with and our floors do look amazing! 

The people were very professional-they arrived when they said they would-they finished when they said they would. The quality of teh work was excellent-you can't even tell where they pet damage was. They did an excellent job of blending the floor that they refinished with other oak flooring that they didn't work on.

Dallas and his entire team were 100% professional the entire experience.   Dallas' estimate was clearly itemized showing material expenses and labor.   His price was in the middle of the estimates we received.    The project manager was friendly and professional and very communicative about scheduling and in letting me communicate back to him about what still needed to be addressed as the project progressed.   He also helped provide solutions for baseboard materials and was very flexible in working with me on the only issue that wasn't clearly communicated on the estimate which was that sealing the tile grout wasn't already included.
The team was always punctual and all the installers did excellent work.   Our only real issue with the process was that some of the cutting of new baseboards for the staircase was done indoors instead of out on the driveway, which lead to a lot of sawdust in the house.    But I would say for the most part all the other cutting was done outside.    We had a tricky issue with the existing staircase to resolve, and the installer's solution turned out great.    Overall the entire project took about 2 weeks.  There were a couple of days in which the installers were dedicated to other projects, but that was communicated in advance by the project manager, and which days they would return so I was completely satisfied with feeling that we weren't being abandoned halfway through. 
And following the completion, Dallas has been completely professional about repairing some minor issues we found with the installation, some which Dallas fixed on the spot and two issues which required sending an installer back out to our house.   The account manager was also very nice in this regard telling me that even though we had completed the final payment that if we noticed anything amiss to give them a call and they would make it right.

They came out right away when we requested an estimate and were able to preform the work immediately, but we wanted to do the demo work ourselves to save on costs so we had to delay it.  After we scheduled the project, the work proceeded exactly as was described to us when they gave us the estimate.  Sanding and finish coats were all applied on time.  Employees were friendly and informative.  But I did not get a phone call from them letting us know when all was finished so that we could return to he house (after being away for several days) and move the furniture back in.  I would have appreciated a call.  Also they put a lock box on the front door so they could come and go when necessary and it took them several weeks to remove.  So they need some improvement in communications.  But overall we are very pleased.  The floors are beautiful and the work was completed so quickly.  I definitely recommend them.

We used Dalls Watson to replace the carpets in a townhome that we bought and moved into. We replaced the living, family , dining areas with hardwood and the bedrooms with carpet. We chose the carpet and wood materials and came across DW on Yelp. 
The contractor who worked with us was very helpful. They did a great job of working with us, picking up the material and completing the project on time. The crew they got in were great and we were on a tight timeline to move out of our current location.
Their professionalism was quality of work was very good as well. Definitely recommend working with them!

They were highly ranked on Angie's List; that's why I hired them. They were slow and we also had some pieces ordered for our staircase that they were putting in. The day it was supposed to be done we had not received any information about them coming over and I had to call them a bunch of times. I finally got someone on the line and found out the parts did not even come in so we had to push the project back by a couple of weeks; we were also trying to move in so it was really frustrating. Then they ordered the wrong parts and then there was a part that we would have had to paint by ourselves; which was really weird. I don't think they went over expectations or understand the buyer and help explain the pieces they would do and not do. There were assumptions made and, in my mind, that's what kind of was left undone. I think they have really poor communication and don't have support for their customer service. The craftsmanship, itself, was great; I feel like we got our value out of what we paid. It was just a huge headache and the owner was really rude to me and said a few uncalled for things. Their craftsmanship was good but not their customer service. I would recommend them to someone else; explaining that they should expect to have to manage the communication. I was really happy with the work and the crew was nice but the owner was mean. The price was on the higher end, but was fair; the work was done well.

Dallas responded quickly and provided a bid in just a few days. Crew was scheduled for demo and instal of new flooring, then 2nd crew arrived a couple of days later and did Swedish finish. Crews were professional and cleaned up extremely well. Floors turned out wonderful. The only issue is that you as client need to be proactive and follow up with communication with both crews and Dallas. It is best to leave a key for the day with the crews rather than waiting.  Dallas stands by his work and after a walk thru had crew come back and take care of corner water stain on the old floor. We love the new floors.

They installed bamboo flooring. It was the first time we had used them. It went great. I would use them again.
