oops.. got this and the experience part a bit mixed up.... The job required cutting of my daylight basement slab in order to poor new footings. approximately 120 linear feet of cutting was what it ended up being.
Description of Work: Despite my not stellar marks given to the experience dealing with Cascade I would recommend them and even likely work with them again if the need arises. I discussed the job over the phone with Gary. I believe that he is either the manager or owner of the company. He asked for the deminsions of the project and asked if the workspace was cleared out. I said at that time that there are remaining walls and hallways that would have to be cut around. I asked for a reminder call the day before and was informed at that time by Gary that if I wasn't there at the appointed time that I would be charged a fee. The day prior to them showing up for the work a member of their office called and left a message requesting billing information. I unfortunately cannot answer my phone at work due to what I do and didn't get the message until later that night. The next morning I showed up to meet the operator from Cascade. I was there at 8:00 which was the scheduled time. The operator never showed up. at about 9:30 I called Cascade. I was informed that by Echo that it was because I never returned her call the day before. To which I stated that this was not the arrangement and that it was never discussed that they wouldn't show up if I didn't answer the phone the day prior. Echo then put me throught to their discpatcher who then said that the problem was really that one of their operators had broken their leg and couldn't come in and they were short handed. (this seemed much more of a reasonable reason to me) The dispatcher wanted to schedule him for the following week. This was not going to work with my schedule. I had already set time aside to be their during the work and did not wish to take another weekday off to meet them. They said that they could come out the next day, which was a saturday but at a fee. I baulked at the added fee and they called Gary who OKed the saturday work at no additional fee. The operator did show up on Sat. on time. Unfortunately he did no bring a hand saw to cut around the hallway areas. He told me that I would have to call on monday to schedule someone to come back out. I called monday and made the apt. for the following friday. Two days later I recieved a voicemail from Gary stating that there would be an additional fee for havening to come back out......... So I called Gary to discuss this. I expressed to him that all requested information was given in regards to the hallway areas on the intial conversation and that has I am not the professional in the field of concrete cutting and that if a minimum space dictated the use of a hand saw and if it was not brought to the job site the first time that it was not my fault and that it should not fall on me to pay for that additional trip. Gary stated that he already OKed the previous saturday work with no additional charge and that due to that he felt justified to charge for the added trip to finish the work. I told him that the saturday work was because they didn't show up at their appointed time and that no call was even attempted to cancel or reschedule. Gary was actually shocked to hear that I was not informed of the cancelation of my appointment. We both ended the phone call in agreement. No extra fee was charged for the completion of the work. I will say that has a business owner myself I am familiar with the occasional breakdown in the systems that make for efficient, proffitable, and customer friendly running of a business. And after my last conversation with Gary I believe that he was truely concerned at how my work was handled by his office (the actual operators that did the cutting were great, fast, professional just great). And in the end Gary stepped up and got the job finished for the agreed amount. So I would likely use them again if needed.
