They used to refill propane tanks. They went out of business and kept the car repair part of it, but they've always serviced propane tanks. I have had them do tires and stuff like that for me periodically. He is real good.
Description of Work: I have used Mike's Fairwood Auto for propane.

My 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse would not idle properly - either fluctuating in RPMs or just plain stalling. Yesterday, when I went to start it, it barely turned over, so my husband and I replaced the battery so I know that is not my problem and suspected I had a charging system issue. I had just moved to Fairwood from Bremerton and had been continuing to go to my trusted garage in Bremerton and would have gone back there if I felt that the car would get that far without stranding me. So I found Mike's on Angie's list, called them up and they said to come right over and they'd take a look at my car. When I got there a technician took it and ran charging system diagnostics on the car. He came back out and told me that it checked out fine. He didn't offer any further advise on what to do next so I asked what the next step was. He told me that their shop rate was $96.50 per hour and that he would need it for a full day to start looking for the problem, which he had no idea what it might be. He then asked if I was aware my check engine light was on, and I replied that I was. He asked if I wanted them to read the codes and I said that I had just had that done at my usual garage a couple of weeks ago. Rather than ask what the codes were or if I had plans to fix them, he then told me he really wasn't interested in helping me as he doesn't like working with people who don't care about their car or look after it properly.I could not believe that someone in a service business would actually say something that rude and insulting. It's too bad that he made such assumptions. If he'd asked a few more questions, he'd have found out that my usual garage, which is not local, had scheduled to do the work on the check engine codes and that I do indeed care about my car and regularly service it and look after it. Unfortunately, this problem cropped up before the next scheduled appointment. I will find a way to get my ailing car back to MAXRPM in Bremerton, where they have always treated me well and taken very good care of my cars.

This is a very troubling report considering that we needed to find out what was wrong with the car. The check engine light was on and we were simpley trying to find out how much the customer wanted to fix her car. We truthfully informed her of our labor rate and said we needed tthe car for the day. NOT because we were going to charge for the day but because we were very busy when she dropped in and we were not able to start researching until a later time. We could not tell you what the next step is because that is up to the customer! You had also informed us that you usually go to another shop so we wanted to make no assumptions that you didnt want to bring the car back to your regular repair shop. There were no assumptions made as to you not taking care of your car, we simply asked if you were aware that your engine light was on. Upon asking that, you became insulted at the obvious misunderstanding and we were not given the oppertunity to explain! It is sad that a small business that that makes a living on helping people solve their vehicles problems could be so misunderstood about being critical of a valued customer. We take great pride in being a long standing member of the Fairwood Community and we wish that you would give us another chance and we are deeply sorry for the misunderstanding.

The car had an oil leak but there was no way to know ahead of time where the leak was coming from (typical of 2003 VW Passats). I wanted to go with a shop I trusted, but had no prior experience except with dealers, who I do not trust and have not had good experiences with. Mike's Fairwood Auto has received reviews stating their honesty and integrity, so I went with Mike. My experience was much like the other reviews. Mike kept me in the loop on his findings along the way and enabled me to make decisions about the work to minimize my out of pocket costs. I probably could have shopped around for a deeper discount on the work, but I would likely not be as happy with the quality of customer service that I received from Mike. I believe I have now found the shop I will use for all auto repairs. I plan to take the car back to Mike's Fairwood Auto for timing belt replacement.

I would give them a total thumps up. They called me forty five minutes later and said the brakes were fine. They said that there was work done on the car in December and my husband and I were blank. They have all the records so they went back and looked and saw that the brakes were good. They went back in their records and found the receipt for it and called me and let me know. They could have always said they've done them and my husband and I wouldn't have known they've done them. They are open from Monday's through Friday 7am to 6 pm and Saturday's 6am to 4pm which is nice to have an automotive place that's open on weekends. They have free parking. I highly recommend them. The guys are really nice and they were willing to give me a ride home because I live like five blocks away from there while I waited for my service. They are very friendly and I trust them. They seem to know what they are doing. The first time I took my car there for an oil change they informed me that my radiator seemed ready to go. At that time we didn't know if they were going to be good or not. They gave me an estimate and my husband had me go ahead and take it to another guy that we had been going to and he gave a $100 less in getting it repaired and replacing the radiator. All of a sudden they informed us that it was more difficult than what he had anticipated and he charged us a $100 more whereas fairwood auto gave us the upfront estimate to begin with. It looks like a clean shop to me and they are very professional.
Description of Work: I took my car to Fairwood Auto Service Center last week to get my car brakes repaired, got an oil change done and they found a nail in the back tires and they repaired that as well.

The shop performed that work quickly and thoroughly, and even stayed open an hour late so that we could pick up the car that day. The mechanic made suggestions for other maintenance work that should be done.
Description of Work: Our son took his Jeep out to drive in a muddy field, and when he was cleaning the underside, noticed that some things were not right. When he took it in to our local auto shop, it turned out that a tie rod was broken and a motor mount was damaged.
