I took my broken slide handle into Redmond Vacuum. He fixed in about 10 minutes and when I asked what I owed was astonished when I was told nothing. I thought he performed a valuable service and should be paid for his time and the part he used, but he refused any money and said the part was something he had lying around. I am very impressed with this level of service in today's day and age. If I ever have any trouble with the vacuum itself, I will take it here to have fixed.
Description of Work: Fixed a broken slide control on Miele Vacuum.

My husband ran the vacuum in as it just stopped working while I was using it. The people at Redmond vacuum looked at it and explained why it stopped working correctly. They took time explaining and did not charge anything. We will absolutely use this business again and with a high degree of trust.
Description of Work: Taught us to push the reset button and explained why the vacuum roller stopped.

Will definitely return to buy consumables for the vacuum or service, if needed. They service Riccar and keep a stock of spare parts on site.
Description of Work: Purchased a Riccar vacuum cleaner from Redmond Vacuum. Both gentlemen who work there are technically knowledgeable and answered a lot of my questions while I compared different vacuum models. Got a good deal on Riccar that was on display, both in terms of price and useful extras (2 special purpose tool and a box of bags) added at no charge.

Cliff is a really nice guy and does quality work. Part of our vacuum cleaner head was not working. He took it all apart cleaned everything, put it back together and now it works great. We thought we had a broken part, but he just cleaned and adjusted everything. He is very fair and extremely knowledgeable about his craft. We highly recommend him. will be back.
Description of Work: Tuned up the head of our vacuum cleaner. Previously, it was not working properly.

He really knows vacuum cleaners. His shop is always busy when I go there. I think that of the four times I've been there he has just sold a new machine to somebody. If I was in the market for a new vacuum that's where I'd go and I wouldn't shop it on the internet.
Description of Work: My Miele canister vacuum cleaner would not start. The man (I believe he is the owner) who helped me knew exactly what was wrong, gave me a cost estimate, a date when he'd have it done. He fixed it, had it done three days earlier than he'd promised it, and no surprise extra costs. He also put in a new bag because he noticed that there was mold in the bag I'd left in it. (Thanks to my painter who used my vacuum to clean under my washing machine after he moved it!)

I needed to clean the high traffic areas of our carpet. In the past I have used companies that used steam and dry carpet cleaners to clean the carpet in the whole house. I had also tried the steam rental equipment. I wanted to clean the carpet on my own but I also didn't want the steam cleaner. So I looked for a dry carpet cleaner and found the HOST dry carpet cleaner. That led me to Redmond Vacuum who has the HOST equipment for rent. The HOST system was very easy and I was able to clean the carpet by myself. Bonus was no emptying a bucket of dirty water from steam cleaning. Redmond Vacuum was very helpful in explainig the system and the use of the machine. I will definitely rent from them again. Wish I had found this sytem sooner. The man at Redmond Vacuum was very helpful and pleasant to interact with. He answered all my questions regarding the HOST system. Next time I will make sure that I call ahead to make sure that the equipment is available. I got lucky that when I went to the store, the equipment was available but someone had reserved the equipment for the day after. It just meant that I didn't have quite 24 hours but it was enough time to do what I needed to do. I wasn't cleaning the whole house, just the high traffic areas. Very happy with the results, with the HOST system and with Redmond Vacuum.
Description of Work: I was looking for a dry carpet cleaner as opposed to the usual steam type carpet cleaner. I found the HOST Dry Carpet Cleaning system online. From the HOST website, I found Redmond Vaccum had the rental equipment.

Another customer came in around the same time I did, and he recognized her and remembered what they had been discussing. He answered some questions for her and laid out the pros and cons of all the vacuums she was looking at, based on what she'd said about how she used it and the old vacuum she was replacing. Very important to note here that he did not steer her towards the highest priced of the three. He said the lowest priced would be a straight up replacement with better suction and the middle one (what she wound up getting) was more or less the same with a more comfortable handle. When I was talking with him, I noticed the same trend. I did not get sent immediately to the highest priced model. In fact, he said that it probably was not worth the extra cost unless having controls on the handle was an absolute deal breaker. It was a very pleasant change from the experience at Best Buy and other places of that ilk where they push you right away to whatever costs most. I was interested in Miele vacuums, and he did a really good job of breaking down what the differences in the models were. He didn't even suggest a model until he'd asked some questions about what kind of floors I had and what sort of issues I had with my current vacuum. He also was very clear about how much the disposables cost and how often they needed replacing. He even pointed out that the HEPA filter might be overkill for some people, and that a lot of customers that had no allergies just used the free "superfilter" that is included with the bag refill package. I left for a while, since I'd gotten a lot of new information from him that I wanted to fact check and do additional research on. Everything he explained turned out to be correct and unexaggerated, which is probably the first experience of its kind that I've had dealing with a retail establishment. He had discussed the different types of power heads that came with the different models and what the limitations were. When I was reading reviews, I saw that most people that were unhappy seemed to have bought a model that didn't have the right model of power head for what they were doing. I have very thick, high pile carpet, and he recommended models that had the most powerful power heads for that application. You have to dig deep on the Miele web site to see which model of power head does what, but I easily got all that information broken down nicely just by asking why one model was recommended over another. When I went back, he picked up right from where we left off, as if I hadn't been gone for 4 hours. I wound up getting the higher of the two models he'd suggested (but still not the highest priced model) because I wanted a particular feature. As an unexpected bonus, the first box of filters and bags were included with the vacuum purchase. Granted the vacuum was expensive, but the free box of bags (~$20-ish) is definitely not part of the pricing. Had I bought online, I'd have bought the wrong thing and needed to buy a new power head later (or dealt with the hassle of an online return) to work well with my carpets. That would have left me with a "wasted" power head that I wouldn't use and erase the price difference between the model I would have gotten and the one I did get. Plus the step up in model up front got me a few additional things in the way of construction and controls that I still wouldn't have had if I'd done what I usually do and bought the one I thought would work online to start with. Plus, the way he treated customers that came in and the fact that many of them were repeat customers spoke real volumes to me. One customer had had a really old vacuum fixed there a few years ago and was bringing it back to be fixed again because the motor had come unmounted. Another lady came in and didn't know what model of vacuum she had, and he did a really great job of narrowing it down to the right refills with just a few questions and pointing to various vacuums around the store. The professionalism and knowledge I saw in every single customer interaction is something so rare these days, and something that I'm happy to support. Bottom line is that I will definitely shop here again for refills, and will use this store for any repairs if needed. For Miele, prices are set by the company and everyone charges pretty much the same thing. You can save money on tax by shopping around online, but the service and great information I got was more than worth the price difference to me. Buying the right thing the first time is a benefit that shouldn't be underestimated.
Description of Work: Spent a lot of time answering questions and was clearly very knowledgeable. While I was looking around, several people came into the store asking about rates or parts or getting vacuum bags and he knew everything off the top of his head. Friendly and professional, and did a great job as a single person juggling service for, at one point, five people in the store at once.
