We called around 4pm asking for a notary after 6pm to notarize one document, a power of attorney we needed for the next day (before my mother went in for surgery). We were told because it was after hours and she was coming to us that it would be $90 even though we met her near her home. We thought at the time that we were lucky anyone would do it. We should've called around, she was our first and only quote. We met her about five minutes from where she was located. She did the job and was gone. She wasn't very nice. We were made to feel like we were hassling her. Since then Ive had to hire a few notaries to deal with some stuff for my mother. All of them have also worked evenings, have all been real nice and only charge about $40-50 for one document. Plus all of them explained to me that by law they can only charge $10 for each document notarized and that the rest of their fee is for the travel fee. She did not inform us of this. Had she told us that we were paying $80 for her to travel 5 minutes away then we would've definitely looked for someone else.

"We are very sorry for the experience our customer received a year ago. Our travel fee would have been $90 for service after 4:00. We would have added $10 for the 1 signature. Our office is about 20-30 minutes from Everett and traveling there during rush hour can take about an hour. In the future we will make very sure that our customers understand the fees in advance. We do provide a detailed receipt."
