Mark/Columbia was fantastic. One of the big companies came a few months ago and claimed that the blower motor was leaking, the blower wheel was implacted with debris, the capacitor was bad, and the inducer was grinding and over-amping. They claimed it would cost over $3000 for repairs, and pushed me towards total system replacement ($5000-$10000). Mark carefully made his diagnosis that all aforementioned components were working fine on my 13 year-old furnace, but that the heat pump had a leak that he could likely fix. He also replaced a thermostat with a new one that I wanted since it had gone dead since the original HVAC company visited. Total cost was $1150 for 2 visits and 4-5 hours work, and much of that cost was for the added SMART thermostat wiring and installation. Mark is professional, trustworthy, honest, personable, punctual, considerate, and knowledgeable. He took the time to carefully diagnose the issues with my furnace/heat pump/AC system, was very responsive to my queries and amenable to my needs, and I will DEFINITELY be using his company Columbia as my HVAC company going forward... Highly recommended!!

Mark the owner was very accommodating in adding me into his busy schedule to meet my needs. His pricing was fair and honest. When the job did not need the possible amount of work originally thought , he adjusted his bill to the work performed. This was a rental and I was not on the job site at the time the work was performed. I would use Columbia Heating again. I would recommend Columbia Heating to anyone who needs these services.

Mark came promptly (walking through the ice and snow on our hill) and quickly inspected the furnace and found that it wasn't necessary to fix anything at this time. He indicated that if it started happening on a frequent basis, the blower motor would most likely need to be replaced. He showed me how to load the filters correctly (I had one a bit out of place). He told me the age of the furnace which I didn't know. He was very personable and didn't charge me for his visit (which took about 3 minutes). Absolutely great service. I've already recommended him to a friend.

When a rental-property furnace that was only two years old was not operating during Snomageddon, I needed service quickly to ensure the safety and comfort of my tenants. I found Columbia Heating & AC through a Google search. When I called to inquire about availability for a service call, the owner, Mark Bjorkquist answered immediately; he went the extra mile by scheduling a same-day, 6PM appointment to diagnose and repair the issue. Mark showed up at six on the dot and quickly got to work . He quickly found the issue and explained what was causing the issue. During this investigation, he found numerous problems with original installation (incorrect vent installation, incorrect drain installation, incorrect vent connector installation - angled so it would not drain and not tightened so it was leaking in the cabinet resulting in rust and no filter at all for the unit) and provided a clear explanation of each correction he would make and provided a fair price up front to get the system back in excellent working order. The repairs required PVC piping and fittings (for the vent), hose clamps (for the connector), sheet metal (for filter bracket fabrication), properly-sized furnace filter and hanger straps (to correct the drain issues); all of which Mark had in ready supply in his work vehicle. Once he had a plan for repair, he corrected each issue with attention to detail that was, unfortunately lacking by the previous installer. One hour later, he called to inform me that the system was back on line and running better than ever. Mark’s skill in diagnosing, communicating and fixing the problem on-time and quickly is unmatched in our area. His professionalism and integrity has earned a new and permanent client. I had called one of the biggest, high ranking HVAC companies - the soonest they could schedule for was 4 days out. Mark came out that night at 7pm after apparently a full day of other furnace repairs. I had revealed my troubleshooting skills led to needing a new furnace. Mark came out, determined that I didn't need a new furnace, or even a new blower motor yet - simply a capacitor and improved cold air return. He put in the capacitor immediately, and we were warm that night! He came back the next day and installed a grill to improve cold air circulation. You don't can't ask for any better than that! I'd definitely recommend him to anyone, and I will be using him next time the need arises!

Mark Troubleshoot my AC and found a bad capacitor. He also did some checks to ensure system ran well. Mark gave me some tips when operating my AC that was very helpful.

After replacing the fuse, he had me put a thermometer in the vent to see how well it was cooling. It was still sub-par, so he checked the Freon level and discovered that it was low. After adding the Freon, the unit was cooling to expected levels. I will use Columbia heating in the future, should the need arise. I really appreciate the fact that he juggled his schedule to fit me in.

Mark came out the day I called, despite the fact that I wouldn't be home from work until 6:30. He explained the problem and his trouble-shooting process so that I was confident in his assessment. He had to get a part and consequently wasn't able to make the full repair on his first visit, but left me a space heater to use and was back again the following evening (after work again) to install the part. He showed me another potential issue that I would likely have to address at some point, but didn't use scare tactics to get me to have work done right then. I appreciated his attitude, professionalism and the fact that he was clearly conscious of and sensitive to my financial situation.

By the time they came out the heater started to work. They checked everything, fixed the area for the filter so it would not fall. Explaint the very simple system to me. They spent about 45 minutes and didn't charge me anything for the service call. The guy was very nice and I will have no problem in referring them to any and everyone! And if I have another problem they will be the first place I call.

Our furnace stopped blowing warm air and I was desperate to get someone out to look at it. Mark said he could make it in an hour and that is what he did. Unfortunately, the parts to fix it were too expensive to justify putting into a 25 year old furnace, so I had him replace it. He came out when he said he would be here, did the work in the amount of time he said he would and changed me the amount he told me it would cost

I had a problem with my A/C unit so I called a few companies to come out
and give me a quote. I didn't know who to call since I am not from
here. They were not only early and dressed in a uniform unlike other
companies that had come out, but they were polite. I was pleased they
were so honest with what was going on with my system. They weren't
trying to over charge me on things I really didn't need. I would highly
recommend to everyone to use COLUMBIA HEATING & AC!! FRIENDLY FAST AND HONEST!!!!!

I will definitely use this company again and will have them check my system each year. They were very responsive to come out and provide a bid, and Mark was very thorough in preparing the bid - he went into the crawlspace to make sure he could run piping/electrical where he planned, measured carefully to ensure a convenient space for the outdoor unit would still comply with county code for distance from property line, asked me questions about my current furnace and usage. Columbia heating bid was $7500+tax (=$8200), another bid was approximately $9000, and another company I called said it would likely run $12,000-$15,000 based on the information I gave them about my house. My house is about 1600 sqft, with about 1200 sqft on first floor and about 400 sqft on second floor. Also, Columbia bid a two-stage A/C unit for me, while the others were bidding their bottom of the line one-stage. Columbia Heating was able to start my project within days, while the other companies were booked out several weeks. Based on all of this, plus a high recommendation about them from a friend, I chose Columbia Heating. I also checked Consumer Reports ratings on the brand of units Columbia was installing, and they had very good ratings. They arrived on time, Mark had told me ahead of time which areas he would need access to, and he and one other person were able to finish the entire job in one day - one very long day (about 10 hours) for the both of them. They cleaned up everything before they left, and Mark showed me all the new hardware, how to replace the furnace filter, how to use the thermostat (it has WiFi!) ,and how to use the emergency shut-off for the A/C unit outside, if needed. He checked the temperature of the cool air coming through the registers before he left to ensure the A/C unit was working properly.

Mark and John did an amazing job replacing my furnace. They were punctual, courteous, clean, fast, trustworthy, and economical. Mark really knows his stuff and did a thorough job estimating the job. I paid exactly what he quoted even though they spent more time. They took the time to do everything right, thoroughly test the unit, clean up after themselves, and left things better than they found them.
