Issaquah Sewing & Vacuum

I can not begin to tell anyone how frustrated I am with this store. I bought a sewing machine there on Friday. The machine lost a stitch when zig zagging. I took it back on Monday. Was told that replacing the housing for the bobbin would fix the machine. Schlepped back home to North Bend after being told what they did would fix it. Started to sew and it was back to not catching stitches. Ran a trouble shooting regime, changing needle, thread, reloading bobbin, blowing out the bobbin area, changing tension, changing fabric, etc. Had my husband bring it back in on Tuesday and was told that it was just the needle. I called and talked to the repair person and explained that I had changed the needle several times and that it was not the problem. I was told he looked at it and it was fixed. Started to sew again on Thursday and back to slipping stitched. Went back in today and yes, there was a problem. The machine has a fundamental issue that needs a deep repair and I would not get it back until the end of October. Their solution? Down grade me to a different machine without the features I need to do the sewing I'm doing. No discount on the lower level machine. NOTHING. When the one lady who had worked with me explained that the lower level machine would not work I was told there were no other options. I asked if they had something used. They found me a machine. I was shown the machine and it looked like a reasonable option. They needed time to go over the machine so I went and ran an errand for an hour. I was told by Mo that they would fix the needle threader. Got back, picked up the machine and got home. Needle threader NOT FIXED. Their solution? Drive back in an hour so they can fix the problem on a Friday afternoon as the repairman is going on vacation. I am in private practice. When we blow it in my office, we make things right in a really significant way. I don't expect the same level of make it right, but REALLY? Just drive in again spending an hour on the road? If there is one more problem with this machine I'm going to insist on all my money back and will never grace their space again. Not impressed. Not happy. Will not give them any money in the future.

Jonathan assisted me. He is amazing, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about vacuums. Knew all about my old vacuum (no longer made), diagnosed the problem right away. Motor bearings, and they can't get a new motor for that model. He explained my options and showed me a similar, but more feature-rich, model (different brand). He listened to my special needs (lots of vacuuming of bird seed, feathers, from pet birds) and did not high pressure or upsell me. I thought about it, returned a couple of days later, and purchased the new vac. Love it!

II brought my Miele canister vacuum to them for what I understood to be a simple repair. It is a well documented problem with Miele canister vacuums where something comes loose and makes the vac turn on and off when you pull the electric cord out. I dropped the vac off on Saturday and was called on Tuesday (a day earlier than quoted) to let me know the repair was complete. I paid the $40 repair cost and purchased a $50 HEPA filter when I picked it up on Wednesday. When I went to use the vac a few days later, it did not turn on at all. I returned to the store and was told that the only two options available to me were to replace the vac (a replacement would be at least $700) or continue to use it but without the cord rewind being functional (it worked fine when I dropped it off). I confirmed with them that the motor was perfectly fine and that the vac should work for quite a while longer once they rigged it to work without the cord rewind. I made it clear that they returned the vac in worse condition than when I dropped it off, but they made it clear that they were unwilling to do anything to address the issue. As the cost of a new vac was not in the budget, they rigged it to work but without use of the cord rewind. When I returned home I spoke with Miele technical service who seemed surprised and frustrated that the authorized repair shop was unable to provide a complete repair. They knew that it was a relatively simple fix and could not understand why the cord rewind would no longer work. They sent me to another authorized shop who fixed the original problem the same day I dropped it off and returned it fully functional and with a working cord rewind. I have been using it for several days and it is working perfectly! My frustration with Issaquah Sew and Vac was that they never once apologized for me having to come back or took any responsibility for their faulty repair.

It ran a lot more smoothly but it was a little more than I wanted to pay.

Their products are top rated and their staff is very knowledgeable in what they sell.

It's a good company. I had a beautiful serger which my mother-in-law broke. Too many years have gone by and they just didn't make the part any more. She was making all these napkins when she came to visit. She was pushing the pedal as though she was driving a car and the whole metal housing broke. It was a $700 machine. She was having fun but she was just too fast. You can't push the pedal like your car. I took it to them and they said the whole housing is cracked on it and they could not get a part for it anymore. I believed them because they have a great reputation so I ended up buying another serger from them. It's a family run business and they have been around for years. They were great with everything.

While we might have gotten a vacuum cheaper at a big box store, we felt like we left this place with the right machine at a good price. Since the sale, the vacuum has proven to be everything they said it would be and is right for our living situation.

THEIR WORK WAS MERELY SATISFACTORY. THEY ALSO DID NOT COMPLETE THEIR WORK BY THE TIME THEY PROMISED IT WOULD BE DONE. THEIR LACK OF COMPLETION ON TIME IS THEIR MAIN FAILURE.

VERY GOOD SERVICE. EXCELLENT SERVICE ON MY VACUUM CLEANER. I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN AS NEEDED.
