About us
We started in 1994, a Contractor/Custom Home Builder, a Banker and a Manufacturing Engineer. We discovered the Solatube brand product through a kitchen remodel and ordered one from the manufacturer, Solatube International, in California. We then proceeded to bring the distribution of Solatube skylights to the state of Washington. Our mission from the beginning was to sell a quality product, at a reasonable price, delivered with great service. We are all about taking care of our customers, we love them and they love the bright light from the Solatube skylight! We have dealers set up throughout the State of Washington. We sell the Solatube installed and as DIY kits to homeowners and also distribute to contractors, roofers and other businesses. Family owned business.

From the beginning, all the staff were very professional. Dawn and Ryan provided helpful suggestions regarding the type of light that would suit our situation. Ryan did a first-rate job with the solar tube installation.
The price was at the high end, but we feel that we have quality products. Today, we have a dull, rainy day and the solar tube is providing adequate light for the space where it was needed.
We would strongly recommend this company for the installation of solar tube lighting.

We have talked with this company throughout the years as we planned for this move and have always appreciated their willingness to talk about what we needed and what it might cost. The cost was slightly less than the bid. The installer, Randy, was knowledgable and quick. He was pleasant, and cleaned up after his work. We are delighted with the results.

Joel was cheerful and started to work immediately. He installed the Solar Tube quickly. He was in and out with a minimum disruption to our home. He cleaned up well after himself. Great experience!

Ben Naylor came out to provide an estimate for the hand rails. He brought samples so I could see my choices. He immediately sent an estimate via e-mail. I had several follow up question plus an additional order for picket railings. I was very pleased with Ben's extremely prompt responses to all my questions.The men who installed the railings were right on time, very professional and did an excellent job. Their clean-up was very good.

I had friends who had these screen doors in their home so I went out to Edmonds to see their products. The person I worked with was very helpful and answered all the questions I had.

The retractable door is wonderful. I have a very small kitchen porch and my previous screen blocked entrance into the kitchen. This door solved the issue and it's great to have a full screen when I want to "air out" the kitchen.
I had no idea the products this company represents. They carry beautiful solar tubes, windows and aluminum porch railings which I also purchased.

I saw their retractable screen display at the Seattle Home Show a month earlier and wanted to have them installed on my sliding glass doors which look out to the view. They gave me a discount coupon for each screen and said they'd contact me, which they did soon after. We agreed on a date, and luckily it wasn't raining that day. Two installers from NW Lighting arrived at the appointment time. They explained the process to me, which was not too complicated, asked for my opinion on location, and commenced putting them in. The screens were up and running in under 2 hours. They ran though care and cleaning of the screens with me, explained the product guarantee, and cleaned up after themselves, and were on their way. I'm thrilled with not having to stare through screens even when the doors are shut. So mission accomplished.

Worker was very good. He found a way to install in a difficult situation and did a very attractive, clean job. We are a bit disappointed that the light provided is not is not nearly as much as we had expected.

Overall experience was very good. Dawn provided information cheerfully and Ryan was a great installer. Our cedar shingle roof is fairly steep and made the installation a bit challenging. Both Dawn and Ryan were great to work with and very honest. The only surprise for us was the $50 "Steep roof" charge. We were not made aware of that until the day of installation. I certainly can understand the reason for the charge, however. Overall, A+ for the Northwest Natural Lighting Team!

I was not at home, my husband was there.
Ryan installed the solar tubes, he is super. Knows what he is doing and got everything neatly taken care of in approx. two hours.
Love the light that comes into our house. Before, a very dark place, always turning on lights.
We're very happy how it all turned out.

I had called on Monday and they had an opening to get us in that day but due to the type of roof i had and the fact it had rained the day before, we rescheduled for Thursday as it would be a safer installation.
The installer showed up on time, he helped us determine the best location for the solar tube. We could only afford to do 2 tubes total and he helped determine that if we went with a 14" tube nestled between where i was originally going to install 2 10" tubes, we would be happy with the outlay of light and that would then allow us to add the tube in our sons room at the same time.
Originally we didn't think we would be able to but due to the installers insight, we were able to get a great distribution of light.
We will be remodeling our bathroom in the future and if we need a solar tube, we would have no hesitations calling them again.

Very easy. NNL came to the house and measured the deck and sent a quote. I went to the showroom to pick out the style of railing. The railing was installed as scheduled and the glass was installed later. I have received many compliments on the railing and can enjoy an unobstructed view through the glass.

Saw them at the Puyallup Fair. They called me a few days later and arranged an estimate date. They asked if the estimate was acceptible, did I want the service tech to bring all the supplies and do the instillation at that time - I agreed. Also asked about a thermostat for the attic fan and was told it would be an $18 option, so had them add that to the estimate (and truck). Ryan arrive on time and climbed up into the attic, went on the roof and gave me my estimate. I needed an extra length of tubing for the solar tube, so another $32. OK'ed the instillation and Ryan was dome in 1 hour with both instillations. He said my job was very straight forward (not complex roofing) so took less time. LOVE the solar tube, it is so light I keep trying to turn off the light switch! GREAT! Now I don't have to use the electricity every time I go upstairs. The solar fan is silent and the thermostat keeps it from running when the attic is less then 85 degrees. Just what we wanted.

The install went smoothly and efficiently. It took only about an hour from start to finish. We love the Mirage retractable screen door. It leaves the glass door clear and unimpeded when the door is closed and the screen is not needed-- giving us full value of the view through the glass door. Then, when we want to have the door open, the screen rolls effortlessly out from the doorframe to cover the opening to keep out insects and any curious neighborhood cats. We highly recommend such a screen solution!

I found this company at the remodel expo in downtown Seattle. They gave me a deal for three tubes to be installed and were there within a few days to do the work.
The installer lacked some personality, but did a great job on the installation. The job was done very quickly.
These tubes are incredible! I knew they would bring some light into the house, but I was impressed at just how much. With the light fixture wired in, I get natural daylight during the day and I flip a switch for light at night. There has not been any leaking, even with all the rain we had in the spring.
I could not be happier with the product, I just wish they would have wired the lights in.

I had called and requested that they call back to schedule getting an estimate. I received a call right away. The young lady answered my questions and quoted prices for me. We scheduled to have the Solatubes installed on 8/9/11. The young man was at my house right on time. He even called to say he was on his way. He helped me decide where to put the SolaTubes to get the most light and got right to work installing them. He was very professional and friendly, which was nice. He cleaned up his mess after he finished the job, which helped tremendously. I would definitely recommend this company to my family and friends. They were wonderful to work with.

Great! The solar tubes bring in much more light than I had expected. They removed existing hall light and placed tube through existing hold. In the bathroom they removed the fan and went in though existing hole. You or an electrician must hook up your own electrical-fan and light. I am obsessive with energy conservation and live with a young child. With the new addition I had to catch myself before nagging him to turn off the lights. It really is uplifting!

Ryan first determined exactly what was going to be necessary to install the tubes and gave me the cost before starting. This took about 45 min. He arrived around 9:45 and left about 12:30.
Ryan was very helpful in explaining the best locations to place the tubes. He was very personable and efficient and answered all my questions and did a decent job cleaning up. One tube was over entry stairs in a popcorn ceiling so it made more of a mess but when he asked for a broom & dust pan I said I would vacuum the floors as the fine dust had settled on the hardwoods and wouldn't have swept up with a broom anyway.
I wanted to see a different filter on the large tube but he didn't have that size with him but said he would be happy to stop by another time if I wanted to see it and swap it out.
He filled me in on the care & how to take them out if I had to for the remodel.
I had a coupon from the Mother Earth News Fair that I obtained after I had already contacted them about putting in the lights. They honored the coupon even though I was already putting in the lights but was waiting for some other work in the house to be done.

Dawn, consultant came to the house and was very helpful in explaining solatube product and the light that I might expect in different areas. She was very upfront in her pricing and I felt very comfortable (NO high pressure sales pitch). She said if I wanted she would keep me informed of upcoming sales and promotions. Dawn called a couple of weeks later to let me know of a sales promotion on the solatubes and we decided it was the best time to schedule the installation.
We were having a new roof installed so we waited until we had new roof. The roofing company we chose recommended NW Natural Lighting to us as well.
Joel, the installer arrived on time and began after confirming placement of solatubes. He said it would take 2.5 hours and it did exactly. When completed he showed me how some of the filters looked. I purchased one of the $11 filters for bathroom. The solatube was already lighting up the small bathroom so well on a overcast day, I worried about the brightness on a sunny summer day. The filter is so easy to put in and take out, it's nice to have the option if needed.
We love the light our solatubes are providing. We've commented several times over how we should have had them installed sooner! It is so nice that our dark hallways and bathrooms are now lit without having to turn on the light switch. At night everything is dark with no interference to sleep. We would highly recommend NW Natural Lighting.

We had wanted to do this when we had our roof done but they wanted over $1000. We saw this company at the home show and they said they could do it for $550 so we had them come out and they did exactly what they said they could! The job was done on time and clean up was very professional. Would recommend them and use them again!

Dawn, the sales representative, was punctual, professional and helpful. The Solatube installer arrived on time and seemed to be a nice enough kid. He finished the job in less than an hour, but we think that this was due in some part to the relative sloppiness of the installation. The holes he drilled to install the Solatube were ragged and not completely aligned, and they were way bigger than they needed to be to accommodate the tube. He clomped over our brand new hardwood floors wearing his dirty work shoes. He did not clean up all of his mess. He did do a good job installing the flashing; at least we have not had any leaking problems - so far - even with the heavy rain. Based on how this went, we would not use this company again or recommend the product.

This project could not have gone any better. That is no exaggeration. I can always find something that could have been done better, but not on this project. Ben, sales, Scott and Jesse, installation, were outstanding. They measured everything multiple times to ensure accuracy, and they explained every detail of their work. Our deck has a rounded front corner which made it tricky to bend the railing to match the curvature of the "pony wall." But they matched the wall perfectly. These people are perfectionists on all counts and their products are excellent.

I called NW Natural lighting because I had an old coupon from the Puyallup Fair from 2 years ago for a solatube. Not only did they honor the discount, but when I asked how soon they could have someone come over, they actually had a slot they could put the work in for that day! Their installer (Joel) showed up on time, we verified the location for the solatube, and he went to work. 45 minutes later and he was done and cleaning up everything. Super job, super company - cannot recommend them highly enough!!

Someone came out, showed me samples of all the options, gave me much information about the product (just as I had read online) and gave me a bid. I accepted it. One the appointed date, one gentleman installed two Solatubes quickly, efficiently and neatly in our living room. We paid $50.00 extra because they were being installed in acoustical ceilings which contained asbestos and which we hadn't yet removed, so they took the required precautions while installing. The amount of light was so great (diffused evenly throughout the room, that for a while I had to lay some rice paper inside the diffuser/covers to subdue the light until we got used to it. (We had been living in a cave prior to this). Now we can read or do other work without having to turn on lights during the daytime, even on rainy days. They are fantastic, and so much more energy efficient than a regular skylight. No heat gain, no heat loss. I want to install more in other dark places in the house.

We love them. They were fabulous and so were their products. They cleaned up after themselves well and came when they said they were going to come.
