About us
Krause House Painting & Finishing takes pride in serving their customers in a courteous, workman-like manner. Measures are taken to show respect for the customer's home, as well as the time and expense people put into making their homes a haven and sanctuary away from the fast pace of everyday life. Krause House Painting's goal is to work with the homeowner, using their talents to improve the aesthetics and beauty of the home. Krause House Painting Inc.'s work is largely referral-based and repeat business. This means leaving customers 100% satisfied with the finished product and willing to recommend us to the next person. Krause House Painting Inc. performs only 60-70 jobs a year with 1to 2 crews under the watchful eye of Steve Krause. Somewhere between Steve and his team a small issue occurred, but Steve didn't hesitate to make things right. You can find people that have a fair price and you can find people that do quality work, but it's rare these days that you find people that take ownership in error. My project started out as a D level appearance and these guys shaped everything up to the A category. If every Angie's list provider showed this level of class, punctuality and care, this would be the only resource anyone would need for home care. Best Big Deal experience to date!
Betty contacted me in Spring as promised and kept me up to date on their schedule. When they came out to correct the areas, they had me point out areas I noticed. I told them I was concerned about what I was missing because every time I looked, I would find new areas. I asked them to check every area of the house to determine other areas I could not see. (To my knowledge, that inspection was never done and they relied mostly on what I had pointed out.) After they scraped and primed the areas, I was asked to review things one more time. I easily pointed out several more areas which they immediately corrected. This bothered me because why could they not see these as they were up close to them. They came back the next day to paint the areas corrected and again I was promised they would do two coats. After awhile, all but one guy left to work on another job, but I was told the last person knew what to do. I checked on him when he was still working on what I assumed was the first coat. He told me he had already done two coats on the first area. I asked how that was possible due to time needed to dry and he just smiled and feigned poor English. I looked and he had missed an entire section which just had primer. I pointed it out and he said he would get to it. Without warning, he was gone 45 minutes later. All areas had been painted.
Overall, the house looks nice. Do I believe I received the two coats bid, not in all areas. (My opinion just based on timing of events and visual inspection.) Steve and Betty are really nice people, are responsive and will work with you if there are any issues. I believe the issue lies with them not keeping closer inspection on their crews. When not being scrutinized, I believe the crew cut corners to save time and relied on customers not noticing things. It is due to the fact I had to be diligent about pointing things out and a lack of supervision that I will not use Krause in the future nor can I recommend them. It's really sad, because a lot of the work was really well done.
