About us

Common Cents remodeling is a small business located in the beautiful town of Bellingham, WA. Common Cents has been in town serving the community for over 15 years. Common Cents owner Ben Millar is a Washington native and attended WWU. Initially, it started as a college kid opening a painting company, but due to honest, reliable hard work, Common Cents blossomed from a way to make beer money to a stable income to foster a growing family life. Common Cents has taken on new strides to improve itself by becoming a general contractor in 2010 and taking on more technical projects to diversify its professional profile. There is not much Common Cents can not do! Heck, Ben is even becoming a realtor! Ben prides him self on the common sense principles of: being honest and open with his prospective and current customers, being an effective communicator with his clients and providing free estimates for any of your home improvement needs.

I selected Common Cents Remodeling after interviewing 6 contractors to complete a full house remodeling project on my home. I inspected some of Ben Millar's previous work and was quite satisfied with the fit and finish. Ben provided a reasonable bid for the work and managed the insurance reconstruction and owner upgrades very competently. He was easy to work with and provided many helpful suggestions. He managed subcontractors and county inspections without problems. His communication was excellent and provided many in progress photos, which helped immensely since I was out of state throughout the reconstruction. The few add-ons were reasonably priced. After listing the house, I received several over asking price bids and sold in 3 days. Highly recommend.

Ben is knowledgeable in more the just siding and can do almost all aspects of a remodel with just his company, don't have to hire a bunch of contractors

I am very pleased with the repair of my fence and deck. Ben and his helper were very helpful in keeping me informed. It took a little longer because of the weather but that was alright with me. The only negative I have is a bit of clean up , like putting my water hoses back on the hose holders. It's a small thing but...important to me. Other than that I am 100% satisfied. :)
