It's a very long story, so I'll try to cut to the meat.

• Eide displayed a lot of expertise in judging what we wanted and comparing it with both what was possible and what was cost-effective.
• Eide knows many experts in many different fields, giving us access to quality craftsmen we would otherwise not known to contact.
• I'm sure Eide worked on our project with as much speed as they could. I sometimes felt like they should have been moving faster, but it's probable that they were waiting on some uncontrolled factor, such as an order from another place.
  • The bathroom project started in May and finished up in early August. This might be a normal pace, but I felt like there were times when we were waiting on products that could have been ordered earlier.
  • On the other hand, it's entirely possible that they weren't ordered earlier because we hadn't made up our mind. It's hard to remember at this point.
• Eide always moved to repair whatever small flaws were left in their work or were caused by their work, but it sometimes took longer than I would like.
  • For example, the railings on the new stairs were not joined in perfect alignment at first, so running one's hand down the banister gave one a distinct burr at the join. It took some time and several mentions before they corrected.
  • Some other issues took a similar length of time to resolve, including a scuff on the new stairs left by a subcontractor, and a poor color choice on the putty binding the top and bottom of each new step's hardwood.
  • All were eventually corrected.
• Eide was always friendly and quick to contact me when necessary. The individual workmen were also always friendly and pleasant.

This particular project was small by Eide's standards. I called supervisor Doug Amundson and he arrived the next day to check out the project. We agreed to proceed on a time-and-materials basis since the scope of work would depend on what we found regarding the leak's source. But they're happy to provide estimates also. Doug coordinated his own people and a drywall contractor to track the leak's source by going into the walls at strategic locations both inside and outside; to seal the weak points and extend some wood siding where a gap enabled water entry; and to repair everything completely invisibly. The work was flawless as it's always been with Eide. In the prior master bath remodel (circa 2000) Doug and Bjorn coordinated electrical, plumbing, stone, glass, metal fabrication and decking contractors with a talented and picky interior designer to create a large and beautiful master bathroom. It features a glass-enclosed shower, slate and cut-stone backsplashes, a heated stone floor, jetted tub with stone surround, and outdoor balcony with slatted-wood decking, glass surround and custom fabricated and powder-coated (for saltair protection) railing. A complex, high-end project executed to perfection. The media room project (circa 2007) involved demolishing an existing room to the studs, and building it out with a recessed projection screen, acoustic fabric walls and ceiling, custom maple cabinetry with acoustic fabric inserts, maple wood wainscoting, a hidden audio/video equipment bay with automatic custom ventilation, radiant hot-water heating, sink with stone counter, "kid and cat-proof" metal speaker grills below the screen, hidden surround speakers, and a custom programmed remote control for screen, lighting and sunshades on windows and doors. Contractors too numerous to list were coordinated to perfection, the project went surprisingly quickly, and all of them performed work to the same high standards as Eide's own people. I've worked with other General Contractors and worked without a GC. Eide is not the cheapest but they're the people to call if it's got to be done right - and you'll save money in the long run as a result. Their people are smart and creative and experienced, they aren't afraid of complexity, they use only first-rate subcontractors, and will point out details and potential problems you'd never have imagined. And they work efficiently, keep you informed and don't disappear for 3 weeks without explanation, like so many contractors. One of the finest and most professional businesses I've ever worked with, in any field.

Bjorn responded promptly. They came to do an estimate within 10 days and the written estimate arrived 3 days later. It is a busy building season and this is a small job but they stayed in contact with me on a regular basis. They started when they said they would. The workmen were prompt, efficient, respectful of our building. The job went very smoothly. I cannot say enough about what a positive experience this was.

FABULOUS! TRAVIS HOLMER WAS THE ON-SITE 'PROJECT MANAGER. HE DID A WONDERFUL JOB MANAGING THE SUBCONTRACTORS, AS WELL AS DOING MUCH OF THE WORK HIMSELF. HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL, WORK ETHIC, AND CONSIDERATION ARE EXEMPLARY. TRAVIS WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT ADVICE AND DIRECTION IN A PROJECT (ONGOING) WHICH IS RELATIVELY UNUSUAL. THE SUPPORT FROM THE EIDE OFFICE WAS 'ABOVE AND BEYOND'. TRAVIS' ASSISTANT, TONY WAS ALSO VERY CONSIDERATE AND PROFESSIONAL. I WILL CONTINUE TO USE EIDE IN MANY FUTURE PROJECTS!
