Auburn Foreign and Domestic Car

They were very good and they had cookies. It was less than an hour to complete the service. The communication was very good. They were very professional.

Went ok. Performed services and found 4 issues. Had 2 done and delayed 2 because I was leaving on a trip. As part of the safety check the brakes were checked and they noted the pads worn but still within specs. On the way home from the shop I noticed the brakes seemed to be hanging up. Found the driver side rear wheel very hot. Called the shop and they got me in first thing (7 am) the next morning. They determined the issue was a seized caliper and recommended a complete brake system overhaul based on the current issue and age of the car. I brought the car home and drove another car on the trip. Overall I rated them good. The customer service was good to excellent, responsiveness excellent and the shop area very clean and orderly. The issue I have is with the brakes. I imagine that evaluating a brake system is not an exact process and things could be missed. That said I don't believe missing a seized rotor is one of them but it is what it is and it is only my opinion. Finally, I reeeaally don't want to hear back from these folks and would appreciate it if they do not respond. To be sure they were very polite and responded to the issues (once determined) quickly. I did not drive the car on the trip so no harm no foul.

Work was done by appointment and finished at the promised time. Cost was slightly below the estimate. We have used this company before, and we continue to be very pleased with the quality and price of their work. We would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a good auto repair shop.

Called to schedule an appointment on Monday but did not hear back, tried again the next day and mentioned I never received a call back and within 1 hour I spoke to Jerry and we arranged an appointment for later on that day which worked out perfect for me because I was off work those two days. I called ahead asking if I needed to print my voucher I purchased on Angie's List and was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could do so at their office, there was a desktop and printer set up in the waiting room for use I'm assuming just for that purpose. The waiting room was clean and very professional, the staff was very professional and pleasant to work with. The waiting area was comfortable and there was coffee and water, a tv, and wifi access available which made staying there for service to be finished all the more enjoyable. Jerry came in to discuss what they had found during the oil change and maintenance check up, just stripped threads on the screw for the oil cap and a blown left front bulb. There had been something wrong with their payment system which explained why it may have taken a little longer than it should have considering that they had found nothing major with the car, but because of that wait they let me have the bulb and re threaded screw cap for free. Not a very big amount but a thoughtful thing to do regardless of price which was the overall feeling I had with them. The service was professional but with a distinct personal touch you can only find from small businesses, which is why I will be entrusting my car needs with them.

The last service was excellent as always. Auburn Foreign and Domestic has become our standard go-to car service facility. We have owned VW's for decades and used to use the dealers for all services. Once I moved to the Auburn area I did not care for the service at the dealers in the area and sought out an alternative. Auburn Foreign and Domestic had excellent reviews so we gave them a try. They have a clean and comfortable waiting room with coffee, cookies, television, computers, and wi-fi that actually works! The shop itself has to be the cleanest garage I have ever seen in a working business. I wish my own garage was that spotless. They treat your cars very well. They are tidy, you don't end up with greasy handprints on the inside and all over the hood. I have always double checked any service I get, and with Auburn F&D I have never found a loose connector, spilled oil, tools left behind, or other items I needed to deal with. I can't always say the same about some of the dealers I have gone to. Their prices are very fair for the quality you get. A little more than some other independent shops but less than the dealers. I personally feel it is very worth it though. They use OEM parts rather than cheaper replacement brand ones, they will wash your car for you with any service, and will always do an overall check of the car for you.

The engine was running very rough and a strong exhaust smell was produced. The check engine light came on. I picked Auburn Foreign & Domestic Car because of all the positive reviews. I was able to take the car in promptly and they quickly diagnosed the issues and I authorized the work. They contacted me later in the day letting me know they had miss diagnosed one of the problems as being faulty ignition wires when it turned out to be faulty ignition coils, which would cost more to repair. Not a problem so I authorized the repair. The front office was very clean and from what I could see of the maintenance bays, they were impressively neat and clean as well. The only reason I do not plan on using this shop again in the future is cost. Since I used Auburn Foreign and Domestic, I have taken the same vehicle, plus another, to two other shops and feel I got a better value at the other shops.

they were fast and much cheaper than the dealership and two other places I had quotes from. very easy to work with and very responsive.

I made an appointment with Jerry to drop off my car. He gave me a quick interview over the phone about what I needed done. I dropped off my car. Jerry called after the repairs were done, gave me a thorough explanation of what they checked and some problems that I should be aware of. I received a print out of what was done and some repairs that probably should be done and the cost estimate. When I arrived the service was prompt and courteous, I had questions they were able to answer in layman's terms. The shop was clean, and the employees were very friendly. My favorite part was they washed and vacuumed my car! I will definitely be going back!

We have been using them for almost a year. So far, so good. All of the mechanics seem to be knowledgable and always do a good job. I would definitely recommend them to anybody needing auto service done to their vehicles.

When moving to a new city, things like where to get your car serviced can be very stressful. I'm a lifelong New Yorker having moved to the Seattle area recently so you can understand that it wasn't easy finding the right people out here I could trust to take care of the only vehicle that I own. Thankfully we've found it at Auburn Foreign and Domestic Car. I needed to get my oil changed in my SUV and have my brakes checked. In this SUV, my wife and I drove for 4 days and 3000 miles from one coast to the other in 2013. As we got settled in the area, we took it to those quick oil change places. They were expensive but it was tough trying to find a dependable shop that we could bring the car to get serviced at that wasn't going to take all day to finish and charge us an arm and leg for service. I had recently signed up for Angie's List when we bought a house in July and figured there might be an auto service close by that had great reviews. The ones on Yelp are garbage. I chose to contact Auburn Foreign and Domestic instead since we were going to be in the area after my wife's hospital appointments. Upon setting up the appointment online, Jerry called me a couple hours later and we made arrangements. If you're coming from the direction of Kent, it's past the Fred Meyer on the right. Don't drive by so fast because you might miss the turn into their parking lot. When I showed up at the appointed time, I was greeted by Jerry and he knew right away who I was and what I needed done. He also gave me an approximate time on when it would finish. The waiting room is nice and clean. The leather seats are really comfy and I could see myself falling asleep in them. I noticed they didn't have public restrooms though. My wife is pregnant and thankfully she went to the nearby Fred Meyer before we dropped off the car. I'm sure they would have let her use the employee bathroom but still it would be nice to have for waiting customers. Aside from that, they pretty much have all the amenities you would probably expect from a auto service waiting room. There's a car care type show playing on their widescreen TV, a computer workstation to use, free coffee, and a small play area for kids. Also free wifi. When we were ready, Jerry explained all the services that were performed on the car. Aside from oil change, they vacuumed and washed the car. He also showed us any issues that may have come up. There was an issue with the transmission fluid that we plan to arrange to have them take care of at a later date. Even then, there was no pressure to have them fix the issue right then and there. It was reassuring to know that the issue with my brakes didn't require me being pressured and sold on letting the shop take care of it right then and there like other establishments try to do. Having Jerry explain that the brakes were still good and leaving it open for us to come back is the kind of trust I look for in a business. Even the job they did with the oil change was fantastic. That guarantees my repeat business and referrals to friends, family and co-workers.

I get my nissan serviced here. I've been very impressed with their service and their professionalism. Their prices are fair and they will take me where I need to go. Their waiting room is better than average and comes with computers to use and fresh cofffee and cookies

Expensive, but these are repairs/maintenance that would have cost me the same elsewhere. I trust the work done by this facility. Great locally owned company. They made it very convenience for me; drove me to the Sounder station and picked me up at the station when my car was ready. My car is running great. I have a lot of confidence in their work. I will definitely use their services again.

So far, it has been a good experience. Somebody told me I needed to replace my air-conditioning of my compressor that it will be $1100 and at Auburn, they came out and said no I don’t. They told me the valve is what needs to be replaced, the cost was $92, and I will know about labor when I get there. So that will help a lot and I will save a lot of money on that. One other thing is they only have a ten-mile radius to pick you up and drop you off and where I work is about twelve miles and when I contacted them, they said no problem, and they would pick me up and drop me off. That was great. I believe they are honest and they don't try to gouge you. When I sent them an email saying I would like to schedule an appointment and that I didn’t have anyone to transport my car since, and they don’t go out of the ten-mile radius. They replied saying they can go out of the ten-mile radius, they asked me to bring it in, they would take me back to work and they would take care of it. I didn’t realize they had a night drop off.

Very good experience. I'm a serious do-it-your-self-er and I've worked on cars for over 40 years, so I tend to be a bit picky. I feel that Auburn Foreign and Domestic did good work at a fair price. I will use them again without hesitation.

They did an inspection, then called with an assessment and recommendations. They called again when they discovered other problems, giving me more information to make my decisions on what more work to be done.

I first went in for an oil change and then came back for a spark plug replacement and I was very impressed with both visits but I was disappointed because on their website it says they will wash the car with service but they did not do that on either visit. Their customer service was very good, they were very responsive and I appreciated that their explanations were clear and easy to understand.

Wow, professional, friendly and upfront. Super convenient...I inquired and scheduled appt. via Angie's list...received prompt response. I was a bit uncomfortable bringing in a part that I had purchased from O'Reilly's, but "Greg" gladly offered to install the part for a small fee and made me feel at ease. Also explained work needed to be done in detail and called with quote. Staff was friendly and place was clean and organized. Will definitely be a customer in the future!

The repair went well. Costly yes, but this is typically a costly repair on any car. Jerry was FANTASTIC with communication during the whole process and also after the repair with follow on questions. I feel like a valued customer - not merely a valued source of $$ to capitalize on. This shop is honest and definitely cares about it's customers. I plan on doing business with them in the future as needed and also don't hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

Originally went in to have oil leaks repaired for the timing belt cover, valve cover, distributor o-ring, V-Tec mounting plate, along with a transmission fluid flush, steering fluid flush and brake fluid flush. All was estimated at $1,767 incl tax. After taking the car in I received a call to report their findings and propose additional work. The additional work included replacing parts where oil leaks were evident, because of faulty parts and not just bad gaskets or seals, and totaled $1,165 more than the original estimate. This was a bit of a shock, but I trusted their judgement, analysis, and explanation of the situation. Even with the additional costs, the grand total was $90 less than a competitor's bid for the work without parts replacements! Greg was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and sympathetic about the additional costs, but was convinced without the parts replacements the car would shortly show the same oil leaks and some parts would probably fail to work. He showed me the old distributor and oil pump parts and why they needed replacing. He also agreed to provide headlight polishing for free and they look great. After a couple of weeks I noticed that the idle would surge from 200-500rpm at times so I called Greg and he said to bring the car back in to have it checked out. I brought the car in and he had it checked out for free, and it was diagnosed that the idle control valve needs replacing. Another $600+tax, if I choose to have the work done. I am keeping an eye on the idle fluctuation for now. All in all, I am happy with the car's performance now, and the professionalism and customer care that Greg has provided me. I plan on using this shop for work on my 1994 Mazda B4000 pickup and 2007 Toyota Camry in the future. I highly recommend Auburn Foreign and Domestic Car!

I brought my VW Passat in because I was getting fumes in the cabin and an intermittent squealing from my brakes. They were unable to detect the squealing in the brakes and unable to identify the source of the fumes. I had to leave the car overnight because the fumes were most noticeable as the car initially warmed up. They didn't have loaner vehicles to offer so I had to rent a vehicle for the day. That is another separate story...and not a good one. As for the brakes squeal? I've still got it and probably will until I change out my brake pads and/or rotors. |The good: they were friendly and responsive to my concerns. I believe they genuinely wanted to fix my vehicle. |The bad: they failed to find the causes for either of the problems I brought the car in for but still charged me $175. In their defense, I did agree to the fee up front and I understood I would be charged that amount regardless but I expected they would have at least some clue. They did say I could bring the vehicle back if the fumes returned. That's easier said than done in my circumstance. The rental car company they deal with basically ripped me off...charging me for various coverages I had declined (or thought I had declined). I had no desire to go through that again. | |The fumes returned the next day after I got the vehicle back. What upsets me here is after I realized that nothing had been fixed, I decided to do a little investigating of the issue on my own. I'm not a mechanic or car enthusiast but I was able to go on line, "google" the symptoms and discover within 5 minutes what the issue most likely was (and it was). Seems this is not an uncommon problem with this VW model/year. I'm wondering if this company knows there are such resources available to help diagnose problems like this? Apparently, they don't. Instead, I got my car back with neither issue solved and my wallet $335 lighter ($175 for my car plus $160 rip from the rental car company). | |I don't think this is a bad company necessarily and I think they would probably have attempted to remedy the situation had I contacted them afterwards but the first experience was enough to steer me away. | | | | |

we have used them several times to make repairs to a 1991 Ford Ranger. Each time they have done an excellent job.

Here is the full story. I went to a local tire chain (a national brand) as they were the only ones locally to carry the band of tire I wanted for my car. When I went to pick up the car after the tires were installed the tire-store manager told me that my shocks were blown and that I needed to replace them. He showed me (with the tires off) that I had oil on my struts and that my lower control arm (part of the front suspension) lower bushings were also shot. I had no issues with the ride on the car and it passed the "bounce" test. The tire-shop manager tried to pressure me into getting the repairs ($750+), offered deals, but provided no real written estimate. I quickly decided to have the story checked out at Auburn Foreign & Domestic who I have been taking my cars to for many years. The outcome was that the struts were fine (some oil mist is normal) and that while the bushings were getting worn they did not need replacement. I was all ready to pay to have Jerry and Auburn Foreign & Domestic do the work. However they gave the straight story and actually put these findings in writing on my service invoice. They could have just done the work, and I would have paid, but my trust in Auburn Foreign & Domestic was validated. I know that when a repair is done at Auburn Foreign & Domestic it will be because I truly need it and it will be done right. If I don't need it I know that Jerry and the crew will tell me that. While they may be more expensive than cut-rate chop shops you are getting both quality parts and a high quality repair by certified mechanics. I have never been stranded due to a mechanical issue with my cars. This is in part due to both the regular maintenance and the repairs done right by Jerry and the mechanics at Auburn Foreign & Domestic.

My first encounter with Auburn Foreign and Domestic car was 25 years ago when they rebuilt an engine for my 1979 Honda Prelude. I was very happy with their work back then. When I moved back to the Seattle area 3 years ago I decided to try them again and I have been very happy. They are very professional, fair pricing and I trust them. There are never any surprises.
