They did the work fine but it took a while to get things arranged. We got the roof with the strongest manufacturer's guarantee and then selected the roofer that had the cheapest price. This makes the selection process quite easy.

The overall experience was excellent. They came right over like the next day when we called them to assess what we needed. They came about two days later and did the job and it is great. We found their name through a flier that comes with the newspaper here asking whether we needed home repairs or anything and I called them and they referred us to whoever does the roofing. I went through their agency and they did a fine job. I liked that they were prompt. They sent someone out here like two days later and then he called and was coming back within a couple of days. I felt that was very efficient. The water was leaking onto the ceiling in the kitchen and I don't know how much people charge for that sort of work since we never had that done before. The quality of the work seems to be great and it looks good. We have had a lot of rain and snow and there has been no leaking so I would say that it is positive. I thought that their responsiveness was very good. They had indicated a certain time and that was when they came. I went to their office to pay and they were very nice. They have a lot of people that they can get to do different kinds of repairs and that is going to be my first call from now on.

The roof leaked after install. They came back and said they needed to perform additional work and I paid an additional 1200. Roof still leaked. I called manufacturer who provided warranty for roof. Manufacturer found a stretched seam from improper install and fixed roof. This was after multiple attempts to get hp roofing to fix their work. Owner said if I paid the 1200 "99% sure it would solve problem". When the roof still leaked they relied on manufacturer to fix.
Response from HP Roofing
"We installed a DuroLast PVC membrane roof for the customer on one small section of the Nursing Home that he manages. The roof was inspected by a DuroLast representative upon completion, and a warranty was issued by DuroLast to the owner. The warranty covers any and all repairs for a full 15 years from the date of installation. He unfortunately had an intermittent leak, which turned out to be very difficult to locate and repair. But, as you can see from his post, we did persevere, including going to the extent of asking the manufacturer's field technician come to the site multiple times to try and help us diagnose the issue. During the course of investigating the leak we discovered some vinyl siding that had been improperly installed by another contractor, and we repaired that. The vinyl siding work was never part of our original scope of work; we did charge an additional $1200 for that extra work. As it turns out, this improper vinyl siding may not have been the source of the water, but it had to be repaired anyway as it was barely hanging on the side of the building. I believe that the customer's problem is now solved, at no additional cost to him, and his warranty remains in full force if he does have any future problems."

They showed up two months late, trashed our landscaping lighting, left buckets and buckets of debris and never finished the job. We spent close to 10K and our roof still leaks. Here we are March 2010 and we still have no resolution. I would never use this company again.

The price they quoted me was about $18000 and I thought that was huge. They wanted to do what I would consider to be extra work because they wanted to rip off the entire roof before they did the new roof, so all of their fees were for manual labor. What they bid for was over what they needed to do. They were very courteous, professional and they came out right away, and got a bid back to me within 24 hours. They were definitely good, but they just wanted to do too much.
Response from HP Roofing
"In the opinion of our project manager, the best way to handle the Member's roof problem was to remove all the existing roofing prior to installing the new roof. This is roofing industry "Best Practice", as well as required in many cases by building codes, insurance companies, mortgage companies, etc. In any building or construction project there are always options to cut corners, do it cheaper, etc, but if my name, my reputation, and my warranty are going to be on the hook for the final product, I'm going to always reccomend that the work be done the right way, not just the cheapest way. As the homeowner, you are always free to choose someone who will give you a lower quality job for less money, but do you really want "cheap" for your roof?"

They are certified by the manufacturer and guaranteed for 25 years for their workmanship. The shingles have a further guarantee for another 25 years. Their price was more than another quote that we were considering, but the guarantee was worth it.

"This work has now been completed for the customer by us, and I believe he is very happy with the end result."

A representative from HP responded very rapidly to my call; made an accurate, guaranteed, formally correct written estimate on the spot; came in several thousand dollars below the bid of a competing company. I had a rather narrow time window for getting the work done. He assured me they could do it, and they did. The workers were professional and courteous. The representative whom I had originally talked to was constantly available by cell phone or e-mail, and responded to my questions quickly and helpfully. When it became clear that they needed to do some unforeseen repairs where a bit of plywood underneath the shingles was rotten, they contacted me with a clear explanation and a reasonable and accurate estimate of the extra cost. Two small glitches were addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. 1. Because there was a tight deadline, the workers had promised to show up on a Saturday to finish the work; they did not. But they came on Monday, brought extra people, and still finished in good time. 2. I had asked for "double-locked" seams--a minor detail for a small additional cost-- which they did not do. When I pointed this out they explained the misunderstanding (it was, indeed, not very clear on the order form), and took the amount off the final invoice. (They also promised to come back sometime soon and perform the extra work; it's neither crucial nor time-sensitive.) They cleaned up thoroughly and quickly after they finished work, and took very good care not to disturb anything or anyone while they worked. I was really very pleased with the work they did, the warranties they offered, and perhaps most of all their decency and courtesy. I'd hire this firm again and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

It was hard getting their attention to set up the deal but once engaged the work was performed as stated and I have been satisfied with the quality. It was suppose to take 3 days. When it appeared it would take longer, I expressed concern as I was leaving town on the day after it was to be complete. Much to my surprise, they showed up with lights and worked in the evening until the work was complete.
