The technician was friendly, knowledgeable and proficient. I wish that he would have laid out the repair options a little more clearly. For example, "I can charge your unit and not replace the capacitor or contacts and it will cool the house again, but it may shut down in the near future due to these worn out electical parts or I can charge the unit and repair the parts and the unit should be good for a while longer." The way he presented the cost was as if the contacts and capacitor needed to be replaced immediately. It wasn't until I asked the cost of the electrical reapair and chose not to do it that the option not to repair them became clear. Otherwise I was very satisfied with the service.
Knowing that our A/C unit is on it's last legs bcause of its age, I plan to get a home warranty (through a home warranty company) that covers all the apliances in the house including the A/C (about $400-$500 per year). In the event that the electrical parts go out the repair will be covered for the cost of the service call (about $75). If the unit needs to be replaced it will only be the cost of the service call to do that as well. This was my plan before Buds arrived and was part of my resoning for not paying for the electrical repairs. The cost of those repairs would easily pay for a warranty on all my appliances including the A/C for a year.
We decided to replace our aging 15+ year old system with a new one.
The work was accomplished within about 2 weeks from the contract signing, and installed in one day. We have been very happy with the system, the CLEAN ducts and all of the technicians that have been to the house to take care of our work contract.
Everyone was very careful to minimize any dirt coming in to the house, and to be sure we knew everything that was going on with the work. Our system has been humming along nicely since it was installed.
The problem I had during this installation was that the manufacturer did not honor the warrantee. Keven took my problem to the manufacturer, and after going above and beyond the call of duty, was able to get the manufacturer to agree to honor the warrantee.
Overall, they were very knowledgeable and interested in ensuring I was educated in the repair process. I would recommend them to my family.
"I am posting this response after reviewing all documentation involving a service call completed almost two years ago. On April 27th 2009 we visited this client for an afterhours service call complaining of no air conditioning. The service technician found the system void of refrigerant and advised that a system leak search be performed to pinpoint the leak, which the client agreed to and scheduled for the next day. The leak search discovered a repairable leak and the client was offered several OPTIONS to repair, and given that the system was at the upper end of its life expectancy for that type and model heat pump, a replacement was also recommended. We never gave the client a proposal for a new system and there were no options offered that totaled anywhere near the $1200 that was noted in this posting. After applying the appropriate discounts from the prior service the client would have paid $455 for the preferred repair which would have replaced the leaking component. The “next” company was able to use our professional diagnosis to repair the unit and I am glad that that the repair has “held up” for the client for two years now. We have a satisfaction guaranteed policy here at Bud’s and would have been more than happy to review any complaint or grievance and refunded the invoice amount if we did not perform adequately or properly. I have never received a phone call or any other communication on this matter from the client, until this posting popped up almost two years later. Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning has been a valued and well recognized member of our business community for over 40 years with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
