Job took several days to remove old duct work & install new duct work - it definitely needed to be replaced. A separate company drilled three 200' foot wells for the geothermal system & ran hoses under the fence & into the crawl space under the house. A new Trane system Envirowise 2 Stage variable speed geothermal system was installed which replaced the existing heat pump. Once the ground the dirt & holes were cleaned up & had new grass seed put down where needed. I was given instructions for the new thermostat which is VERY EASY to run. All personnel & technicians were excellent - everything was cleaned up daily. I will receive a 30% tax credit on my 2014 tax return. My home is now very energy efficient!!
Description of Work: Furnish & install geothermal system, replace all duct work (original) on 38 year old house, provide new thermostat, new crawl space door, got all permits & inspections, removed all & disposed of old equipment.

Was afraid my unit, which is over 20 years old, was completely shot but after inspection by the technician it turned out to be a capacitor to the fan on the outside unit. $130 later and the units been working great ever since.

They were professional. They came in and did the job. They went in the attic and checked the unit upstairs. They also recommended some things. After you get the year package deal, they give you a 10 to 20% discount on any type of work that needs to be done or anything else.
Description of Work: I have got a yearly maintenance plan from Buds Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. They come out twice a year and inspect the A/C unit.

As always, a positive experience dealing with Bud's. Appointment was for 8am, but technician actually arrived by 7:30. We found him waiting outside in the van when we went out to walk the dog; he didn't want to wake us since he was ahead of schedule! Clean, professional appearance...cleaned up the compressor outside and cleared leaves and debris that had slipped through the slots, changed and disposed of the old media filter. Highly recommend Bud's to anyone looking for a new HVAC unit. While they may not be the cheapest guy on the block (and they're upfront about that!) the overall VALUE of the services they provide make all the difference.

For both the 2nd floor heat pump replacement installation, the first floor central air repair, and the check up program went really well. Bud's is a superbly professional, courteous and respectful group of professionals. There prices were very competitive, and a true value.
Description of Work: Repaired our first floor central air system. We also took the option to enroll in a twice a year check up for both our first floor central air system and our 2nd floor heat pump (which Bud's installed for us several months earlier).

We had turned on our air conditioning in April and it worked but stopped working the next day. Because we were ready for our spring maintenance as part of our service agreement with them, we called for the check up and to check the problem at the same time. The tech was able to fix the issue and give me good feedback about future maintenance I need to consider. As the visit was part of the service contract, and I did not need to purchase any parts, there was no charge! I have had two very good experiences with Bud's. No complaints.

The technician - usually the same one each time - is very professional and arrives on time. The office makes a "reminder" call the day before and then calls the day of the appointment to give me an exact time. Bud's installed the new furnace and air conditioner four years ago. Gave me good advice about what I needed. Last year they did new insulation in the attic. Again, very professional (and cheerful) technicians. I have been very happy with their work and would not use another company.

We had discussed the need for this service during the last periodic maintenance; UV lights will be installed in the downstairs air handler next time. The maintainer had all required equipment, arrived on time (With a 20-min call ahead), and the service was swift, smooth, and without a hitch -- as usual. Individual was polite and knowledgable.

The technician (Rick) was on time and called as he was "on the way" so I'd know more precisely when to expect him. He was courteous and clean and did the job well. He also described what he did and gave me the results, both orally while he was at my home and then by e-mail via Bud's office once he had a chance to upload the results. I have been pleased with the service I have gotten from Bud's over the years -- both on routine maintenance calls like this one and on the one or two times (in the 12 years I have had the system) that I have needed service in the interval between the regular check-ups. I will renew my service agreement and look for them to return in the fall.
Description of Work: This was the SPRING visit of my annual SPRING / FALL service package. The technician cleaned the unit, checked the circuitry and verified the operation of the thermostat and the system (including air outlet temperatures, etc.)

I can always count on Bud's to keep my HVAC services going in my residence. Their professional staff are proactive in every thing that they do; from reminder phone calls and emails for seasonal maintenance to courtesy status updates for anticipated arrival of technicians. The quality of work is outstanding, and it is clear that the technicians are highly knowledgeable and well trained. I can rest easy knowing that my family will not have to deal with service disruptions during the worst stretches of weather. They recommended I replace the unit back in 2010, so I did but since then the compressor has blown 3 times. when i talked to them this year and called them out, they said they'd replace the compressor, as they have already done two other times.. its a unit that is still under warranty for the parts.They charged me $89 to come out and repair the unit. I had a concern that this same problem continues to occur in a new unit so I spoke with Kevin the service manager about it. He called me back yesterday morning and gave me several reasons why it would not work, blaming my tenants but not taking responsibility for their poor workmanship. He wont own up to it. I asked if I needed to buy a new unit, but he continued to blame the compressor and even my tenants. I called later in the day and told the receptionist that I wanted to talk to Kevin's boss, but she would not disclose his contact info. They will not even pass this info on to the CEO as I'm requesting. After consulting with a different company, I learned that it is a combination of poor workmanship and a manufacturer's defect.
Description of Work: I called them to repair the air conditioning unit for the 3rd time in 3 years.

From the General Manager of Bud's, Kevin Medler: Although I respect the [member name removed]s as clients and value their opinions in our partnership, I must say that the review submitted by Mrs. [member name removed] is totally 100% fiction. Not one statement in the review is true other than that her system was installed in 2010. Her assertion that this is the 3rd blown compressor is false. This is the 2nd failed compressor and although 2 failed compressors is unacceptable from where we sit, we do not build machines, we support our clients who purchase the machine from us, which we have done without fail with this client. She claims that we charged $89 to come out and repair the unit- this is false. We charged her $89 to diagnose and repair her other system at the house not the one that this review is based on. In fact, we have not charged the [member name removed]s one dime in regards to the system in this review, despite the fact that the original 2 year labor warranty has expired. This is the type of support we extend to our clients in the event of unusual circumstances such as this. She spoke with Joe, our service manager, not Kevin. I am Kevin and I am the General Manager and have never spoken to Mrs. [member name removed]. I realize that this is just some confusion on which person she was speaking to and not a big deal. As far as not getting the CEO, we have a systematic chain of command to handle a complaint of any kind and they almost never get to the CEO as they are always addressed in an expeditious and satisfactory manner. Her last statement is a bit concerning to me. She states that some other company says that a combination of "poor workmanship" and "manufacturer's defect" caused the problem. I would be interested in learning the specifics of the alleged poor workmanship so that if true, can be addressed. In summary, we at Bud's, have a philosophy that we and our client are in partnership for the duration of relationship. We represent and support our client in this relationship to the product manufacturers. The most disappointing thing to me is that despite having done everything in our power to support this client, have had to endure this negative review. The internet allows anybody to say or post anything whether true or false without verification. My response is in the interest of setting the records straight.

I wasn't expecting to need a plumber when I had my countertops replaced. The countertop people took out the old sink but told me only on the day they installed that they wouldn't be able to replace my sink themselves. I didn't have a chance to have my regular plumber lined up ahead of time, and they weren't available, but they recommended Buds. These people were wonderful. They understood how flummoxed I was and how urgently I needed it done. Through not fault of their own (or mine) they had to come back 3 times before it was done -- each time, they did everything possible to work me in around their existing schedule to get it all done as quickly as possible. Both the plumber, Scott, and the woman on the other end of the phone were super nice and efficient. Price was less than I feared, and Scott had very good suggestions for optimizing my kitchen plumbing design. I would definitely recommend them, and expect to use them again.

From the office staff scheduling appointments and billing to the service technicians performing the work, Bud's has instilled within its employees a dedication and commitment to exceeding the customer's expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bud's for any of their services and wish more companies would adopt Bud's philosophy of customer service as best practice.

Noticed that the downstairs temperature was cold and noticed that the emergency heat was indicating on the thermostat controls. Also noticed that the fan was not working. I checked the breaker and cycled the thermostat with no improvement. The company that I normally used was no longer in business. Therefore I researched Angie's List for AC repair companies in the area and noticed that Bud's was close by. Called them and they stated that they would be by the house later that afternoon. Around 3:00 the Bud's dispatcher called and stated that the repairman would be at the house in a short time. Within 15 minutes he showed up. I talked him through the symptoms and he commenced the troubleshooting. He performed the correct troubleshooting strategy by tracing the electrical power to the fan and quickly determined that the most likely culprit was the fan. It seems that the thermal overloads were such that they prevented the fan from starting. (in fact when the fan motor cooled down, the fan would start but would quickly stop). The technician then offered to replace the motor as he had a replacement on the truck. The cost for the technician's call was about $89. The price for the motor replacement was $530. They also offered 20% off if I had a yearly service agreement. The cost of the service agreement was $276 if I agreed to them charging my credit card $23 a month, or $286 if I paid at one time. The service agreement stated that the company would inspect both of my units at the beginning of the cooling season and again at the beginning of the heating season. Since I received 20% discount I decided to try it out for a year to see if I liked their service. Bottom line is that the technician replaced the motor and the starting capacitor. It took him about an hour. After he finished he checked the coolant pressure on the unit, determined that the readings were nominal. I needed the unit to be repaired and Bud's did the repairs in a professional and timely manner. I do think that the cost of the motor replacement is a little difficult to determine if it was a fair price. On line the cost of such a motor is about $150 to $200. I assume that the company buys these in bulk so their unit cost would be in that range. The capacitor would be about $35. It took about 2 hours for the job, and assuming that the company charges about $80 an hour for labor (and I already was being charged $89 for the service call) that would leave about $230 for overhead and profit. Discounting half for overhead leaves them with a 18% profit margin. That is an healthy margin but not obscene, especially taking into account the somewhat emergency nature of the service call.
