I contacted Scott on Friday and he performed the inspection the following Monday. We both arrived to the property early; he was friendly and easy to talk to. He explained the findings and didn't rush the inspection process. The inspection took a good 3 hours and it was well worth it, because he paid attention to detail. Scott is awesome and very professional. I highly recommend that you contact him if you need a quality home inspection.

Scott was God sent for my inspection.
I had seen structural integrity report of the house which was was given to me by the seller. Scott's home inspection report uncovered structural issues which a structural integrity report wasn't able to reveal. He spotted a crack in cedar closet room which saved me thousands in future expenses.
He was professional, punctual and very meticulous during his visit. He came in early and went through outside and inside covering every inch of detail. The best part is that he prepares the complete report and sends it off to your email with pictures right there and then from the home inspection site. There is a huge value there because the entire visit details are fresh and you get an opportunity to ask him all the questions.

If I could give Scott more than an A I would.  He arrived almost 2 hours early and had the entire exterior portion done before we arrived at the scheduled time.  He wrote the report as he went from the attic to the basement.  At the end he sat down with us and reviewed the entire report and explained to us all the pictures he took.  We received the full report in minutes.  All of our questions were answered thoroughly and confidently.  Scott gave us his contact info and welcomes follow up questions or concerns.  We will be using Scott for any future home inspections we require.

AScott arrived early about 30-60 minutes prior to our start time and had actually completed the entire outside inspection and was writing the report when i arrived.  He was great checked every outlet, every switch, ran all appliances, filled all sinks, flushed toilets.... and so on....  He was great about providing tips of things that were not major issues but minor details that we should take care of.  He showed my wife and I how to open the chimneys, educated us about the heat pump, the electrical panel, water shutoffs, the attic, and how to preform basic maintenance on the home (ie how to clean the air filters ect). 
I had my inlaws with me and he was great about putting them to work so that they could stay busy and take an active role in the process.
Scott takes tons of pictures, and checks all the little details.... he runs all around the house, and calls you in to show you any issues.
He writes the report on site and emails it to you.  He goes over all of the defective findings and is a great resource for what is a good do it yourself fix and what needs a licensed person.
All in all i was very satisfied and very happy to meet Scott.

The services provided by Scott were first class.  He arrived early to inspect the outside of the house before we arrived to look through the inside saving us time.  He was extremely thorough and informative during his inspection.  Our little girls had to come with us and he even entertained them by having them help with a few things along with teaching them in the process.  His final report included detailed notes along with photographs.  I highly recommend Scott to anyone who is looking to do a home inspection in the area.  Our realtor also was impressed and plans on using him in the future.

Scott was early and got started right away. He was INCREDIBLY thorough and we were greatly impressed by the level of detail and images in his report. He found some miniscule flaws that, although not deal breakers, are good to know about our new home.

Scott was incredibly thorough.  We bought a house that had been recently renovated, and Scott pointed out the high quality fixes as well as everything that needed to be fixed.  He saved us a couple thousand dollars by finding a water issue that the builder fixed before we closed.  I'm glad he inspected the house I bought, and relieved that the guy who inspected the house I sold wasn't nearly as thorough!

After a thorough inspection of both the interior and exterior, Scott gave us some great recommendations to include an epoxy injection in our basement wall and replacing some soil on the outside with tamped clay to facilitate drainage away from the house.  He was timely and very professional.  I would definitely recommend Scott for any home inspection services you may need.

I had a very positive experience with Scott as far as getting an appointment scheduled and having him answer all my pre-inspection questions.  I had to cancel the appointment so we never met, but I was nevertheless impressed with his professionalism.

     We were referred to Virginia Home Inspection Service by a friend when we were purchasing our first townhouse four years ago.  Overall, our two experiences with Scott, the owner, can be described by nothing less than outstanding.  He is extremely knowledgable, professional, and friendly.  He always arrives on time (actually early) and provides convenient appointments in a timely fashion.  Also, his reports have been extremely well written and delivered the same day as the inspections were performed.
     When he inspected our townhouse, we were able to accompany him on the inspection.  He was very thorough and explained everything during the inspection in great detail, in a way that we could easily understand.  He reviewed all the systems in the home rigorously inside and out.  After the inspection, he provided a very thorough report that was easy to understand including pictures to document and explain any issues.  Luckily, our first inspection did not reveal any significant problems.
     Our most recent purchase was a new-construction home of over 8,100 square feet, for which he performed a pre-dry wall and a final inspection.  These two inspections made it clear how important a good, highly qualified and knowledgable home inspector is to have.  We were not able to accompany Scott during these inspections due to the builder's regulations.  Never-the-less, Scott's reports were so thorough and included a vast array of photos that it felt like we were there.  He went through this large home with a fine-toothed comb, evaluating everything from the drain at the basement entry door, to the HVAC ductwork connections in the attic, and the roof above.  The details he provided regarding everything in between were staggering.
     During the pre-drywall inspection, Scott uncovered several issues,  some significant structural problems that could have compromised our new home in the long run had they not been addressed.  Additionally, I was blown away with his attention to detail during this inspection, to the point of evaluating every joist hanger to ensure that the carpenters installed the correct nails (which many were missing!).  His report and photos made it very easy for us to ensure that the builder corrected all of the problems that existed before the drywall was hung.
     During the final inspection, Scott also demonstrated a degree of knowledge and expertise of his specialty and of the Virginia Residential Code that was quite impressive.  He found several issues that the county inspector had missed and the builder insisted were to code, but after further evaluation (and pressure from Scott), acknowledged that they were incorrect and agreed to remedy the problems Scott had found. 
     We never realized how important a great home inspector is until the recent inspections done on our new home.  Luckily, the problems Scott uncovered were fixable, but had he not found them, we would have run into some major issues.  We are so happy to have found Virginia Home Inspection Service!  We would not trust our home to anyone else!!!!

This was one of the best experiences I could have hoped for with a home inspector.  Scott was very prompt with an appointment date and confirmed it beforehand.  He arrived early and walked through the entire house with us to go over everything he was seeing as he was seeing it.  He welcomed any questions we had while we walked through the house.  After he was done with the walk through, he wrote up his findings and went over the inspection report section by section.  He also showed us all of the photos he took, so that we could see everything he was talking about.  He definitely took his time and was not rushed at all!  I would recommend him as a home inspector to anyone!
