+ -1 moreI got several estimates from different companies for a total system replacement. Brennan's wasn't the cheapest, but they seemed the most reliable and thorough, and they offered 100% interest-free financing for a year (other places could only offer me 6 months interest free). The two-man crew arrived on time, told me what they were going to do, hauled out the old heat pump, completed the installation in a timely manner, and showed me how to use the new system. They were here basically all day but took the time to answer all of my questions and didn't make me feel rushed. My new system works like a dream and kept our house warm all winter and cool so far this summer (with our old system we used to be sweating on the top floor during the hot days). We also have a service contract with Brennan's, and they're always good about calling to remind us about our semi-annual maintenance inspection. They're always on time and professional.
Description of Work: Brennan's replaced our entire heat pump system. Pulled out old system and put in new one. Installed new humidifier and added an air return.

+ -1 moreFabulous service!!! Mike spent a significant amount of time with us discussing our problems and how best to address them. We really appreciated the fact that they would handle the rebate so that we wouldn't have to front the money and wait 6-8 weeks for reimbursement. We were also impressed by the 36mo 0% financing that was available for a limited time. No one else offered us this. I can see why they have a two week wait. Unfortunately, the price was substantially higher than others we received. Had we been convinced Carrier was our home's best solution, we would have asked Brennan's to price match in the hopes of being able to go with them. However, we ultimately decided to go with a Lennox system that we felt better met our home's specific requirements. I strongly encourage anyone thinking of replacing their HVAC system to get a quote from this company.

Description of Work: The coolant in our heat pump was low and it needed to be recharged; this became obvious a few days before the Memorial Day holiday weekend. We were getting little-to-no cool air when the heat pump was running, plus there was frost building up on the pipes leading to our outside unit; all typical for a system low on coolant. By Friday, May 25, the temperatures continued to warm up so I called our ‘home service contractor’ on Saturday morning, May 26. Their receptionist was nice but said Tuesday, May 29, was the earliest they could send a tech by our home. Knowing the receptionist was only part of an answering service I didn’t argue and simply scheduled the appointment for Tuesday. Unfortunately, temperatures for the holiday promised to be the warmest yet this year, so I placed another call to our ‘home service contractor’ and said we really need someone that day as it was uncomfortably warm the previous day and quite unbearable. The gentleman I talked to put me on hold for a few minutes, then returned and said the same thing I heard on Saturday; no one could come to my home until Tuesday at the earliest. Ugh. After a quick ‘thanks’ I hung up the phone. Obviously I needed to call another air conditioning company and quick. I contacted Brennan’s. I remember seeing their name on Angie’s List and also recalled seeing one of our neighbors (who was also a commercial air conditioning technician in DC) using Brennan’s for their heating and air conditioning work. Within 30-minutes their technician, R.J., called back and said that even though it was a holiday, as soon as he was done with a service call in Burke, he would come by our home to look at our heat pump. Over the phone, he also gave me a rundown of the pricing for the visit and coolant. You cannot imagine how happy we were to find out from R.J. that he would stop by that day on short notice, and on the holiday, to help us out! While out shopping, R.J., stopped by, refilled the coolant in our heat pump, and we enjoyed cool temperatures in our home for the rest of the week. Thank you R.J. and Brennan's. Brennan’s understands the meaning of ‘good customer service’ and certainly proved themselves. Two thumbs up for them!

+ -1 moreIt went very well. Although the window of the appointment was 4 hours, Brennan's is good at communication and called just prior to the tech arriving to let me know to expect him. He arrived and quickly assessed the problem and had it fixed within about 30 minutes. He also offered information about potential future issues. He was professional and polite, despite being very busy due to the recent heat wave. I also used Angie's list to contact them and received a call the same day to make an appointment. I would work with them again.
Description of Work: My HVAC was not producing cold air (during a very hot week). I called for a service call to assess and fix the issue.

+ -1 moreiWe had a flooring installation scheduled for the following week and couldn't risk not having a functioning A/C unit. Brennan's came out and did an inspection the same week we called. Even though we were not present at the time, the rep performed a check and found only a minor change that was required. We could have been told much more was required with a much steeper bill associated with repairs. Instead, the inspection fee covered the charge. We will return to them in the future when we have A/C needs and will have confidence in the trustworthiness and reliability of the company. In addition, the office staff was very helpful, pleasant and professional during our phone conversations. Overall, a very positive experience.
Description of Work: Brennan's came out to perform a short notice maintenance check due to an issue with the A/C not working during a friend's visit while we were out of town. We had a delivery over the weekend and a friend was unable to get the A/C to work. Brennan's came out and did an inspection and performed the minor modification needed. The A/C was up and running again during a very hot period of the summer.

We were pleased with the discussion of options available to us when they arrived do do the estimate. We were presented solid information on several options of equipment allowing us to decide what we wanted to balance price, and overall efficiency/quality of the products to be installed. Installation itself was great. My wife was home first part of day with them, and i received a call in afternoon before they were done to come out and walk through their work. They explained what they did, how the new thermostat works, and all the relevant info on warranty and service calls forward.
Description of Work: Brennan's replaced our outdoor A/C unit, as well as the blower/coil, and our Gas Furnace, in addition to some minor repairs in the ductwork in our furnace room.

+ -1 moreWe noticed our old a/c was constantly running and not really cooling the house. We emailed them late Thursday evening requesting to set up an appointment to get an idea what needed to be done and an estimate. I received a prompt phone call at 0800 on Friday morning and within 5 minutes had scheduled an appointment for Saturday AM. The technician was a right on time Saturday morning and was ready to get to work. Within a few minutes of looking at our system it was more than apparent it would need to be replaced. The coils were just a giant block of ice and once it was melted away you could see the rust. We discussed the different systems they had available and prices and discounts. On Friday, I did some researching to find what a basic system would cost, so with all the discounts applied the price was quite reasonable. Concurrently, my girlfriend was calling friends of ours that do home repair to see if what they were offering could be beat, but we couldn't find anyone that said they could. We selected the mid-grade system, which was only a couple hundred dollars more expensive and way more efficient, and signed the contract. We agreed they would start Monday AM. The workers showed up around 0830 and started working. I was at work the whole day and when I came home the house was a comfortable temp. My girlfriends brother was briefed by the workers on how to operate the new system and he told me what they had done. The system looks great and runs perfectly. We definitely recommend Brennan's because of their fair pricing and extremely fast work.
Description of Work: We had our old furnace and compressor replaced with a new, more efficient system. They removed a small portion of duct to install a media filter cabinet.

+ 0 moreThey charged $350 for the summer time and in winter it was $250. They changed the outlet in the inside and in the outside he unscrewed the cabinet and fixed the wire as it was not closing. They fixed the air-conditioning, put a little of water in there, changed the filters and cooled it down.
Description of Work: I used Brennan's Heating & Air Conditioning Inc about six months ago for roofing. They also do heating and cooling work. The last time they came in here was in December. They come once in the winter and once in the summer.

+ -1 moreI selected this company because of an offer from Angie's list for cleaning my furnace. The sales person that took my call was extremely cordial and helpful. I was a little dismayed to find I would have to wait a month to have the furnace cleaned. I was given a time that the technician would be there and told he would call first. The technician did call when scheduled and showed up within 5 minutes of when he arrived. The only problem was he could not do the service as I have an oil furnace which they do not service. The office had neglected to ask what type of furnace I had nor was there any type of limitation on the deal. Unfortunately it was now a month into the heating season and I had missed all services offers from other companies. I will take part of the blame for the mishap as I should have asked directly if they serviced oil furnaces.The gentleman that came to do the work was extremely friendly and very apologetic about the situation. I was sorry they couldn't do it simply because I liked the technician.

He did a complete inspection and adjustment of both systems and even indentified an issue with the batteries in our upstairs thermostat (the display was dimming due to low battery level). Great work, detailed explanation of all the checks he made and left us with a readable reciept! Highly recommended, great value and peace of mind!

+ -1 moreOur heat pump system went out completely during a cold front in mid-December. I checked Angie's List where Brennan's was well rated, so I gave them a call. It took a few days for them to come out, which was difficult during this cold period. Gari arrived in good time, went directly to work, tried very hard to sell me a new system, but our Trane system is only about 8 years old, so I thought it would be better to have a repairman come out a couple of times before purchasing a costly new system. Gari had to go out to purchase the necessary parts and returned in good time, fixed the heat pump and it has been working fine for the past 2+ weeks. I purchased a 3 visit maintenance contract with them. This is something a frugal friend of mine recommended, so I figured it must be a good idea. I'm told it also gets you at the top of the list for appointments when the the time comes for a repair. So far, I am happy with the results and it feels good to know they will be coming out on a regular bases to check on things. Having no previous experience with Brennan's, I'm still in the evaluation stage though. I rated them good in price and quality, because I have no knowledge about the cost of heat pump repair and it has only been a few weeks since the repair was made, although Gari kept telling me the system is getting old and will start needing more repairs due to age as time passes. We'll see....
Description of Work: Our heat pump went out completely. I am ignorant about heating systems, so here is what it says on the invoice: "Found bad 60 amp breakage in air handler and burnt wire, replaced 60 amp breaker in heat package and repared burnt wire to element, system is running, checked outside, has weak capacitor and pitted contactor." Our repairman, Gari, told me the circuit breaker in the system was broken and a wire was burnt. He replaced the breaker and fixed the wire. Our system has been working fine for the past 2+ weeks. I also purchase a 3 visit maintenance contract for $189.00.

+ -1 moreThey didn't reconnect one of the lines, so it flooded our basement. We found the problem over the weekend and then it was very difficult to get hold of them. They didn't answer their 24x7 line that night because they were having their Christmas party and we didn't get them till Sunday morning. They covered all the damage once we finally did get hold of them, so that was good, but the fact of it happening and getting to the solution was problematic. It was a piece of cake once we finally were able to get to a person who can make a decision that Sunday afternoon. It took us just about within 24 hours to get to a person who could make a decision. They did come through for us but it just took a while to get there. I don't have a basis for comparison of the price. They are very responsive normally but we caught them in a bad time. They were good once we got hold of them.
