One of the techs by the name of Jeff English went beyond the call of duty to troubleshoot a tripping problem in my circuit breaker box due to incorrect wiring that was introduced when the house was built 8 years ago. Sporadically one of my H VAC systems would shut down. The company recommended the name of an electrical company that successfully fixed the problem. I commend Jeff E. for his effort to diagnose the problem, his concern, and his professionalism.

I have used Brennan's for over 20 years. They replaced and maintain a system that was installed in 2006. At last visit in December they replaced the thermostats in my hot water heater and it now works perfectly.

Brennan's schedulers and techs were very responsive, prompt, and professional. I would definitely use them again for my old home's HVAC needs.

I all went really well. I will continue my patronage in future based on this experience.

Called them, they picked up right away. Connected me with an expert who assessed the problem. They found a tech who was able to get to my house in less than an hour. He was cheerful, positive... even admitted that my specific issue was something he hadn't seen before! Nevertheless, he gave me a firm price in a few minutes, went to get the replacement, and it was all done in an hour or so. They even told me about their Angie's List discount themselves, and factored it in without my having to ask.

Overall very responsive, professional, and helpful. Gladly signed up for a bi-annual plan. Highly recommend them!

David Price the serviceman arrived and I explained what was happening with the furnace. The ignition switch would come on, the pilot would light up and then the system would shut down. I was worried that the furnace would need a major repair but was relieved when the problem was just carbon build up on a flame sensor which was easily fixed. David Price explained what he was doing each step. He also checked the filter for the Aprilaire air cleaner attached to the furnace and replaced the filter with a new one I had on hand. I have trouble trying to check the system by myself. He also explained how the Aprilaire system worked and that it was one of the best. (The company that had originally installed the furnace and air cleaner had never really explained any of it to me and I was always apprehensive of the operation and quality of the system.) He also checked the gas pressure coming into the furnace and advised me to call Washington Gas because the pressure was lower than it should be. I did call Washington Gas right after he left and they had to replace the pressure gauge and meter on the outside of the house. The service call from Washington Gas was handled promptly at no cost. $40 of the cost of Brennan's service was for the repair of the flame sensor and the rest, $159, was for a maintenance contract that will include coming back in the spring to check the A/C unit. I will continue to have Brennan's do the regular maintenance for the the furnace and A/C.

We have nothing but good things to say about Brennan's. They definitely make our Top 5 list of best home contractors ever. Mike Brennan performed the estimate and provided several good options. Because of his detailed inspection, he discovered that our return ducting was very undersized (about half of what it should have been) and he engineered the necessary solution. It did require ripping out some drywall to install new ducting, but I feel that it was necessary to properly address the problem. David and Mike were the installers and did an excellent job. When they noticed a dent in the new outdoor unit, they returned it for a new one (I suspect that other contractors would have left it for the homeowner to notice). Even though it wasn't part of the job, they fixed an issue with one of our dampers. They also did a great job cleaning up. A few days after the installation, I requested that some of the new ducting in the basement be rerouted. Brennan's took care of it without question. They also took measurements throughout the house to ensure airflow was sufficient. So far, the new system has been running without issue, and we definitely notice an improvement over our old system.

Requested a quote back in July. Mike Brennan was very responsive, contacted me through Angie's List and made an appointment to come and give a quote. Based on our current unit and the area we are heating and cooling, Mike provided quotes for three Carrier units. I told Mike at that time that the current units were 20 years old and we would not be putting any more $$'s into them. We would wait for the next HVAC 'event'. The event came on November 18th when the heating unit broke down. I contacted Brennan's the next day and told Mike which unit we wanted, based on the July proposal. Mike was once again, very responsive, and scheduled the job for that Friday. We are very happy with the selection - the furnace works much better than the old one with a thermostat that is programmable. That's a great feature. Brennan's has been in contact since the job was completed to provide all the warranty information. I can't wait for warmer weather to try the air conditioning unit. I would absolutely recommend Brennan's based on our recent experience. Thanks again!

First, I was very pleased that they were willing to answer some of my questions over the phone before sending a technician out. Typically when I try to ask questions before a service call I get a generic response that the service provider can't say without seeing the problem. That is always a very frustrating response. However, Brennan's transferred me to a tech who was able to help me decide if a service call was even necessary in the first place. When the tech (RJ) arrived he was courteous and professional. I was grateful that he didn't immediately recommend a new HVAC unit. He found an issue with the return vents and tried to resolve the problem. We were charged only for the service call. I really appreciate how quickly Brennan's was able to get someone out to my cold house. I also appreciate the degree of professionalism the tech exhibited. I will definitely call this company for any future needs.

Great job by Mike. Upfront and honest in assessing my ducting issues. Identified some cost effective air flow alternatives which will save us $$ down the road vice buying completely new system. Provided complete system diagnosis along with excellent familiarization on Carrier Infinity heat pump control panel. Purchased preventive maintenance plan. Will call on them again if service is needed.

The installation did not go well. The salesman told me the furnace could be move a few feet with no problem. The installers said they couldn't, and they didn't. Then a few years into the service contract the unit made a number of loud noises on a regular basis. I kept calling and having techs look at the problem only to be told there was no problem. I allowed the service agreement to expire and will not do business with Brennans again. The office staff was very polite and knowlegable, as were a few of the technicians.

We had a horrible smell that we thought could have been a dead animal or some other HVAC odor and couldn't locate the source. It was causing headaches and bad air quality. It reached catastrophic point one day and I was afraid it was a gas leak, so I called several Angie's List providers and went over the troubleshooting I'd done so far, but none of them could offer any suggestions or get a tech out for a week. I called Brennan's and talked at length to Mike who scheduled RJ to come out the next morning. RJ was punctual, polite, friendly, and professional. He checked the entire system to include the heating system in the basement, the hot water tank, all the fittings, and found a small gas leak at one of the fittings, but not enough to cause the odor. He checked the system in the attic for all the same. It was determined that the odor was actually sewer gasses caused by the p-trap drying up and letting the gas pass. We dumped water down all the appropriate intakes and the problem has not returned. RJ was very thorough and took the amount of time needed without hurrying. He did an excellent job, and we'll request him for future needs. Thanks to Brennan's and RJ for resolving the issue before kids came home from college and company showed up for Thanksgiving!

Great. Had to wonder if $360 or $485 was for labor. Seems pretty high. The valves are about $120 retail.

I have nothing but good things about them. I like the fact that they are not pushy. They recommend services but do not push them upon you. I really appreciate this. They continue to do good work even after they installed my new system. I have done some checking on the prices and they are by far the most reasonable.

We will be using them in about 2 weeks and they are very pleased. We had a comfortable feeling, and they are professional.

They did a decent job, but didn't really pay attention to details that would make the company stand out from any other. Brennan's sent a whole army to techs--we had four trucks parked outside at one point. They were here all day to remove the early '80's era HVAC and replace it with a Carrier AC and new furnace. The techs were professional and pleasant, but if we were to judge the work they did, it was only fair. They did a very sloppy job patching an area where there was an intake vent for the old AC. The patch involved cutting a board to fit, then installing it. I'm not sure what they cut the board with--the ends were splintered and the patch didn't really fit (large gap on the bottom--they caulked the top, but left the splintered gap not the bottom open). They also did not take all the garbage with them--leaving the insulation they pulled in a large pile in the utility closet. When the inspector came, he said their word was sloppy--that they did not use enough sealant on the connections for the gas line. He also said they really should have run the electrical (that runs outside) in its own conduit instead of simply attaching it to the outside of existing conduit. He also did not like that they did not pull a mechanical permit for installing the new AC--just one for the moving of the gas line. Brennan's quote was higher than that of another company we checked with, but we chose them because of their reviews on Angie's List and the responsiveness of their sales rep. We were willing to pay more for quality work, however, they did not really meet expectations. In a few years, we will need to replace the HVAC in the main area of our house, but will not be using Brennan's. **Update--Brennan's did call me back more than once to try to address the issues I noted. However, since I had fixed the rather sloppy patch job myself and didn't think there was much else they could do since the job had already passed inspection, I did not ask them to come back. Part of my purchase included a summer and winter check-up of the system. For the past summer, and recently the past week--Brennan's called me to remind me it was time for the check-up and set the appointment up with with. Each time, the technicians that arrived were courteous and thorough.

They came in and did what they were supposed to do. The experience was fine and we had no problems. The techs were very nice.

When my heating system decided not to answer the call on the first cold day this fall I decided to replace the entire HVAC system since it was 20 years old and not very efficient. I called Brennan's because they were highly rated on Angie's list. They came out the same day to inspect the project and provide an estimate. The salesman was prompt and throughly checked my existing system to ensure he would recommend the appropriate replacement. We took a great deal of time reviewing possible options before deciding the best option for us. The salesman did a great job answering our questions and did not try to sell us more than we needed. Once we decided to use Brennan's for the job it was scheduled for installation on the earliest date I was available. The installation technicians arrived right on schedule and clearly knew there trade. The system was completely replaced and the new system installed in six hours. They completely cleaned up after themselves and removed the old system. I was completely satisfied with every aspect of this project and would high recommend Brennan's for HVAC work.

Responded within a day to a service request to address a malfunctioning A/C system. The technician identified several unrepairable holes in the heat exchanger in the air handler. He added freon to the system to enable operation until replacement could be accomplished about 10 days later. While developing estimates for repair the tech noted several installation errors made by previous installers. The estimates provided appeared reasonable and the new system was installed uneventfully correcting shortcuts taken by previous contractors.

Several days later it was again leaking and I again called and explained it was leaking again. A different tech arrived and replaced more PVC and departed without charging a fee. A few days later it was again leaking for the third time. For a number of days we mopped up the leaking water from the room it was running into. We were trying decide what to do. We considered calling another A/C company but we already paid $247.00 to Brennan's and could not afford another $327.00. So I again reluctantly called Brennan's asking to speak to the manager and explained the leak was still occurring and he said he would again send out a tech. After looking over the situation the tech found that where the PVC exited the A/C was a glob of wet dust and dirt which was preventing the water from properly flowing out through the PVC. He cleaned out the dirt with a very small brush and that solved the problem. The amount of wet dirt he removed he displayed on the tip of his finger. The tech then wrote up a bill for an additional $80.00 which I paid by another good check. Again there was no 2% discount and the entire cost for me was $327.00 to clean out a bit of dirt from the PVC. . Initially I had no problem with paying a fee but why should I have to pay for failure of the first two tech's and the charge for a diagnostic fee was not fair since we all knew the problem and where the correction was needed. What is certainly not needed is Brennan's help.
