Great! Having dealt with two other insurance incidents in the last five months, I expected frustration. Not with this contractor! It was great! He responded quickly on a holiday weekend, walked me through the details, arrived on time, did a super job, and cleaned up everything. He returned to seed the affected area. I am very impressed and pleased. I highly recommend this company. He is wonderful to work with, ethical, responsive, knowledgeable, and totally helpful. He is an appreciated answer to a stressful situation. After discussing my coverage and options, I chose to upgrade the pipe, therefore I had the out of pocket expense.

This is the firm you want to do a repair of a water line problem. They work very hard, are experienced and know what they are doing, and do the work in a professional manner. In addition to fixing the problems, they left the yard in very good shape. They did not use a trencher to dig up the yard the entire length of the line, but dug a hole midway and were able to test which half had the leak, and then pull a new copper pipe through underground for the half closest to the house A neighbor had the same thing done the week before and the vender used a trencher. Their yard looks very messed up.

A first-rate company. When repairing a water leak caused by a neighbor's contractor, we realized that our 90-year old galvanized water supply line was in poor condition and needed to be replaced as soon as possible. Dan Parris came out within a few hours of our call to provide an estimate. Based on consumer reviews and his responsiveness, we accepted his bid. After a few days of rain that prevented the crew from working, they arrived about 0830 one morning and within four hours had replaced the line with copper tubing, using a trenchless boring method. They dug one hole at the foundation, one at the water meter near the street and one in between, being careful to put the dirt on tarps to protect the lawn. Later that day the county inspector approved the work and the following day the crew was back to fill in the holes. From outward appearances, one can hardly tell that work was done. About the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. Very good communications, efficient and careful work at a good price. I highly recommend them.

Dan, the owner, came out the same day we called. He stayed in touch all day via text, letting us know his progress and keeping us updated on when he would arrive. Clearly, he was very aware of how important this problem was to us, and it was important to him to help us solve it quickly. When he arrived, Dan was very reassuring and obviously an expert in repairing underground water problems. He explained how he would replace the line, and his estimate was half the one we received from another company. Since his company specializes in exactly this type of work, Dan was able to come out with his team and get the job done the next day in a matter of hours (the other company we got a quote from would not have been able to do the work for several days). He texted us photos of the work and emailed our invoice to us. Despite the fact that the job was a little more complicated than expected, the invoice was $200 less than the estimate. Our tenants are happy, we are happy, and we unreservedly recommend American Plumbing for underground plumbing work of all kinds. This is the kind of hard-working, honest, experienced, skilled tradesman homeowners love to find. A gem. Thank you, Dan!!

I've had a recurring waterline leak in my foundation for many years and have paid thousands to no avail in getting it fixed. When I called American Plumbing, Dan Parris immediately came out, diagnosed the problem and and gave me a "fixed price" quote.  His team showed up on time, did excellent work and have completely resolved my problem. They also showed me that previous repairs had not been done properly. I only wish I had called Dan years ago -- he's a complete gentleman and honest to the core. Highly recommended for any waterline work.

Dan's service was nothing short of excellent.  The water company contacted me and let me know our house was leaking between 1000-1200 gallons of water a day. After checking over the common items in the house and not identifying any issues, I decided to give Dan at American Plumbing Inc. a call.  He immediately scheduled me for the following morning.
When Dan arrived, he was super nice, thorough, and professional.  He shut off the main in the house and checked the meter at the front sidewalk.  To our surprise, the meter didn't move and suggested the leak must be coming from somewhere within the house. Dan went back in and did a quick survey of the house and turned the water back on.  He reiterated that the leak must be coming from within the house and gave me a list of things to check.  Prior to Dan's departure, I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't even charging me a service call fee.  I offered him a little bit of cash and he wouldn't even take it.  A true professional!
Later I identified I had a blown valve on my water heater that was leaking straight into the sump pit in the basement.
I would highly recommend Dan for ALL your main waterline replacement needs.  He's a true professional and an honest gentleman  -- something very hard to find these days when looking for repair services.
Thanks again!

When we received our water bill, it was obvious we had a leak as our usage was six times a normal quarter.  I did some online research and found quite a few companies that do the job.  What stood out about American Plumbing from most of the other contractors was their ability to do trenchless replacement.  The homes in our neighborhood are 30 years old and I had seen several other homes have water lines repaired/replaced.  The ones I saw all involved extensive digging from the meter to the house causing significant damage to the lawn, trees, shrubs, and general landscaping.  I heard a neighbor had a line replacement last summer and was very happy with the job.  I contacted her and her recommendation was simple, "call Dan at American Plumbing."  I did just that.

We have the water line replacement insurance through Dominion. When I contacted them to start the claim I simply advised them I wanted American Plumbing to do the job.  From there, Dan handled everything.

Two feet of snow the day after the utility lines were marked delayed the start of the job but Dan got to us well before I thought they would be able to start.  Nate and a crew arrived at 9am on the scheduled day and dug two small holes in the yard and drilled a hole in the basement floor.  At 9:30 Nate advised they were going to turn off the water.  They ran approximately 70 feet of new copper line underground from the meter at the curb  up through the small hole in the basement floor and connected into the water lines.  Two hours later, the water was back on.

The next day following the county inspection, the crew came back to close the basement floor hole with cement and fill the small holes in the yard, even replacing the sod that had been carefully removed.  If you hadn't seen them do it, you wouldn't believe a new water line had been run underground.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dan and American Plumbing if you need a water line replaced.  Not only will you be dealing with an outstanding company, you'll get the job done in a superior way that minimizes the impact on your property.

Dan and his crew were AMAZING. They are seriously lifesavers.
We came home to a note saying Fairfax Water shut off our water due to an insane consumption rate. Due to a massive leak underground in front of our townhouse (we had no clue), we were losing 3 gallons per minute! I emailed Dan in a panic on Tuesday night and he was here at 10am on Wednesday morning. He was professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, and very patient with my many questions.
He gave us a very reasonable quote (half of what another plumbing company wanted) and began the work a few hours later (the same day). He took care of everything - permits, arranging a crew, etc. By 5pm that day, we had a new pipe and running water again! The work was accomplished so quickly and professionally. Dan's crew was great and worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves.
I cannot recommend American Plumbing enough! Dan is a very honest man that just wants to help people -- he's not interested in just your money. My husband and I couldn't be happier to have found them.

API came out to do an estimate within 48 hours of being contacted.  Dan provided a good explanation of the work that would likely need to be done in order to repair the suspected leak between the house and the county water meter.  His recommended work was consistent with our first quote, what the county utility suspected and was considerably cheaper than other quotes.  In the end, he did not have to bore out the existing service line (as recommended by another company) but rather dig down to the meter and the service line connection, pull out the defective polybutylene line, and re-thread with copper pipe.  The crew was professional, timely and did no noticeable damage to the lawn and cleaned all work areas.  I highly recommend contacting API and Dan if you need this type of repair service.

Daniel visited the day I called and gave us a very fair estimate.  The next day, his crew came and worked through the day to get it done.  They were very prompt, helpful and friendly, and answered all my questions.  The following week, daniel came by to inspect the work as well as finish the job.
Couldnt be happier with my choice of going with Daniel and his team.  He knows his stuff, and for this kind of work, why go to anyone else?

The original water line for my 30-year-old townhouse is made of the infamous polybutylene (PB) plastic - the material that has shown poor reliability over the years. Several of my neighbors have had to replace their PB water lines, so to prepare for a possible crisis, in 2007 I purchased a water line insurance policy through Dominion Virginia Power that costs $5 per month. On a recent Saturday, I awoke to water flowing up from my front yard and onto the sidewalk. I knew immediately that my water line had ruptured. Fairfax Water confirmed the leak and shut off the water supply to my house. I called Dominion to initiate a claim on my water line insurance. The rep said that I would be contacted that same day by Dan Parris, the owner of American Plumbing. Dan came to my house just a few hours later and explained how his team would run the new copper line next to the existing line; this would reduce the amount of digging that would be needed. Regrettably, due to work obligations, I could not be present when the repair was happening. I left a key for Dan and his team. Dan told me that mine was one of the more challenging jobs he had done recently; the existing path was not as straight and smooth as he had hoped. He had to dig a couple of holes in the floor of a basement-level closet to aid the process of feeding the new pipe through to its destination. I was thrilled to come home that night to a new copper water line that did not involve any damage to the home's drywall. They replaced the plantings that got dug-up during the process. And they did a decent job of cleaning the interior rooms where the work was done...but be prepared to do some cleaning, especially when concrete dust is involved. My only out-of-pocket cost (thanks to insurance) was $300 for the upgrade to copper. But Dan told me the job would have cost around $4000.

I discovered this morning that a water line outside my townhouse had broken and that water was leaking from it at a gallon a minute. The water company shut off the water to the house, but I was concerned both about how much replacing the line would cost and how soon someone would be able to replace the line. After poking around on Google, I discovered that American Plumbing specializes in this kind of work, and I gave Dan a call based on other reviews on Angie's List. The service that Dan and his team provided was exemplary. I spoke to Dan shortly before 11 a.m. He was driving, but agreed to visit my townhouse and provide a free estimate for the service between 12 and 12:30 p.m. He arrived punctually at 12 p.m., explained what he proposed to do to address the problem, and provided me a very reasonable estimate for replacing the plastic line with a copper water line. (This was all done by 12:30 p.m.) His team happened to be doing other work in the area, and they were able to begin work by 1:30 p.m., and the job was finished by 3:30 p.m. The final cost came in below the estimate that Dan provided.
I had worried that I might be without water for a few days and would have to find another place to stay, but thanks to American Plumbing, the issue was resolved within four-and-a-half hours of my first contact with Dan. I realize that I benefited from a bit of luck. (Dan's team happened to be in the area, and my water-line replacement may not have been as demanding as other projects that Dan and his team undertake.) But I was impressed from start to finish by American Plumbing's courtesy, responsiveness, professionalism, and expertise. American Plumbing has the specialized expertise and equipment needed to repair or replace broken water lines, and I would heartily recommend American Plumbing to anyone who needs a water line repaired or replaced.

We contacted several water main line service providers and their estimate is rocket high. Some of them gave us a nightmare by going through what could be wrong and the amount of work that they had to perform.  However, Daniel responded to our call and be at our house within an hour for the estimate.  Daniel was very patient with us in explaining the work, the pro/cons of different methods, his recommendations, and finally the price is much less than what other providers quoted.  Daniel was punctual, and his crew is totally professional and performed excellent work.  I came back from work and could not even tell that they were here.  All my garden bushes are properly planted where they were, the work location is clean thoroughly and the yard is in perfect shape.  I am amazed at the quality of work and the professionalism that Daniel and his crew performed.  Highly recommended Daniel and his crew.  And thank you for the great work, Daniel!

When the water company told us we had a leak in the line between the meter and our townhouse that was losing a gallon a minute, and that it was our responsibility to fix it, we started contacting some of the well-known companies for quotes. We didn?t expect it to be cheap, but they were quoting $6K and up for replacing the line, saying they would need to break through the basement floor to do the work, and estimating 5+ hours over 2-3 days. I came across American Plumbing by chance, while searching online for more information on water service line leaks. Their website says that this is ALL they do, so I decided to request an estimate and the owner, Dan, called me 15 minutes later, and showed up at my home within the hour. He took a quick look and told me he could do it for about half of what the two other companies quoted, and it wouldn?t be necessary to break through the concrete basement floor. I was a little skeptical at the large price difference ? if it sounds too good to be true, etc., but I joined Angie?s List to read the reviews and what I saw was very reassuring.  I also learned that the company is one of those used by Dominion Products and Services for this kind of residential work, under their insurance program. The next day
we made arrangements with Dan to get the work done and he scheduled us for a day later.
Dan?s team arrived on time, were polite, and very efficient. They completed the work in less than two hours, by feeding the new copper line through the old one, after determining that the leak wasn?t in the coupling near the meter (which would have been an easier fix). I was amazed at how soon they were finished, and at how little disruption there was. They only had to dig one hole ? in the front yard next to the meter ? and this had to stay open until the county inspector came out the next day. The work passed the inspection and Dan came by and back-filled the hole the following day.
It was such a relief to have this problem taken care of so quickly. We are very grateful to Dan and his team for the prompt and efficient replacement, and for saving us a good amount of money. He is also a really nice guy! We highly recommend American Plumbing, without hesitation.

American Plumbing used a directional boring machine to bore under the driveway and garage slab to bring a new waterline into utility room in the basement.  The crew also had to hand dig around the water meter and around electrical service and cable utilities crossing the front yard.  The job was completed in less than 5 hours and use of directional boring machine required no breaking of the concrete garage slab or portions of the driveway that would have been necessary in competitor's estimates.   Competing estimates were about $500 less but required two days to complete and required breaking concrete garage slab in two areas as well as breaking a portion of the driveway.   In this case I think it was well worth the extra $500 for the less intrusive repair method and the timeliness of completing the job.  Dan's crew back filled the hand dug areas in the front yard and carefully replaced the sod and cleaned up the interior and exterior areas of the home.
Overall outstanding work by Dan and his crew.

Dan's free estimate was accurate with price (which was was one of the best prices I could find).  The other plumbers were going to cost more, take longer, and had shorter warranties.  Taking these factors into account, I chose American Plumbing.  I had about 6 other free estimates before settling on Dan.  The only hiccup was the date of the repair/replacement occurred about a week than estimated (which is why I gave a B for punctuality).  It was not a big deal in our case as it was not an emergency for us.  Dan came by on the weekend with another plumber and two workers.  Everything went pretty smoothly even though the initial attempt to locate the outside underground piping from the house did not work.  They finished the job in about 3-4 hours.  Workers all seemed pretty professional.  I would definitely consider them again.  Two thumbs up from me.

Dan and his team did a great job. They arrived promptly and installed a new water pipe through the old one to fix a water leak in the main line to the house. When I made the appointment Dan had mentioned to me that he had done similar work for a number of other places in our aging neighborhood. It took about 3-4 hours for 4 guys. They ran new piping through the old one. Part way through they discovered that the pipe went in a different direction than we had all originally assumed. They added another pipe without complaint and didn't charge me anything additional. They dug two holes to connect up the pipes to the main water line, back-filled them with the original dirt and we replanted grass on top which grew just fine. I was very pleased with the work and it was also significantly less then I had anticipated given the other estimates I had acquired (from normal plumber type companies), since they specialize in this sort of work they knew exactly what needed to be done and how to do it. Hopefully no leak in the future, but if we were to move and have a similar situation I would not hesitate to contact Dan again.
