Mr Rooter Plumbing of Williamsburg

We had no hot water on Monday, we contacted Mr Rooter and they sent a Tech out who diagnosed the issue and charged us $100.50. The Tech said it was the elements. Our Tank had been replaced 5.5 years prior and was still under warranty. Two days later, the same Tech replaced the elements. Two hours later we still didn't have hot water. We called them and he came out a day later. While there, he tried testing the power to the tank but did not switch the breaker off which made it arc, causing a huge cloud of black smoke and burnt the metal water line on the tank. (Pictures attached) He said that it was his fault and he would replace the metal line he burned and that the tank needed to be replaced. We went into our garage the next day to find the metal line he burned had leaked on the floor. They told us $700 in labor to install the tank (no charge for the tank since it was still under warranty) After a week of cold showers for our 6-year-old daughter, we were desperate to have hot water and couldn't afford a hotel room (to be honest we just didn't know what else to do so we agreed to the cost) and told them to go ahead and install it. 2 hours after the Tech had installed the tank and left, we still didn't have hot water. We called them back (exasperated and asking for a refund) and they then told us it was probably an electrical issue, so we needed to call an Electrician. The Electrician came out and said that the breaker was not giving any power and that this could have been caused by the Tech arcing the wires on the tank before it was replaced. He replaced the breaker. Now we have an Electricians bill on top of the $700 we paid them. We have asked for a refund because not only did their employee misdiagnose it but, he also likely caused the issue that we had to pay an electrician to fix. The owner Stacy refused to refund our money... I wouldn't EVER do business with this company again.

Great. Camera was used to show cleaned out sewer line with remaining root pieces. Will now need to replace the cast iron pipe with pvc, another job later. Nice to be shown the problem.

Mr Rooter was able to get to us within 2 hours of making the emergency call. He was very professional and friendly. He fixed what we needed fixed- quickly cut out the section of busted pipe and soldered in a new piece. He also thawed the rest of the pipe so we could get our hot water heater back in action. Unfortunately, I did not ask for a price prior to the work and didn't know what to expect. I think the price was astronomical for the amount of work done, but it was also an emergency service. From what I hear from others that have had plumbing work done, this should not have cost a fraction of what we were charged. There was no price breakdown on the invoice. In the future, I will make sure to do my due diligence but he got the problem fixed ASAP and all is well.

Didn't tell us cost upfront. Did the repair. Asked for the credit card then my husband asked for a breakdown of charges and the repair guy just charged the card. The guy said he would email a breakdown. No breakdown on the card. No idea what we paid for. Just a random made up number for all we know. Called the owner she hung up on us twice. Refusing to refund us. Said she would send the guy out to remove the part then refund us so we said okay but she won't give us a time frame when to expect him. Terrible company and completely unethical. We are filing a dispute with the credit card company. TERRIBLE!! Don’t use them! The owner is awful!!!!

Mr. Rooter showed up within 2 hours of our initial call which was great because this was a stressful situation. We had nasty water backed up in our first floor tub and the toilets were also close to overflowing. They showed up and immediately diagnosed the issue. The technician even used a camera (optional fee for this service) to ensure that our line was not damaged. I hope this never happens to you but if it does I'd definitely recommend Mr. Rooter of Williamsburg.
