Dennis, Brett, and the their team at PuroClean in Warrenton
are the type of contractors everyone who has had a bad experience with
contractors wishes they had. Every single employee and sub-contractor they
employed were contentious, consummate professionals, who need very little
direction or supervision in order to "do things the right way." Their
focus was on a million details, but their mission was clear: to make a huge
disaster as manageable as possible for our family. In the initial days
following the flood, they would carefully help us move and salvage what we
could, and give us gentle directions when we were too overwhelmed to know what
to do. We quickly realized we didn't have to know what to do, because they did.
I remember trying to help move things either to our storage unit or to the
dumpster, and more than once having things removed from my hands with a
welcoming "Ill get that" from one of the many workers helping us. In
the rare case that I requested help with something before someone had already
done it for me, any request was handled cheerfully and quickly by one of the
staff.
As the scope of the work that was going to be needed became
clear, Dennis and his team were careful to manage expectations, explain
procedures, and guide us through the process of dealing with the insurance
company. It was clear that the entire team knew exactly what they were doing.
They assisted us with all of the insurance paperwork, and in many cases dealt
directly with the insurance company to insure as much coverage as possible.
Once the house had been emptied and dried out, we began the
process of rebuilding. Dennis and Brett, as co-owners continued to be very
hands on throughout the entire process. I can think of very few days during
re-construction where we did not have at least one or both of the owners
present on site ensuring work was proceeding smoothly and answering any
questions that we had. As with any large construction project, there are always
problems that pop up along the way. It is simply part of the process. It is the
way these problems were handled that set Brett, Dennis, and the rest of the
staff at PuroClean of Warrenton apart from any other contractor we had worked
with in the past. I can think of very few issues or problems that were not
handled personally by one of the two owners of the company. Normally, any
problems that arose were already handled and fixed the right way the first time
by the time we found out about them. They were simply ?on top of it? all the
time. I would come home to workers fixing drywall and re-painting things that
we never would have noticed were wrong. It was rare for us to point out
something amiss that they did not already know about and were already in the
process of fixing, but in the rare cases when we had to make a decision or get
involved in the process, we were always given reasonable choices to make, and
the problem was almost always fixed the right way the first time. There was
just no hunting people down, and trying to get things taken care of. Everything was done in a contentious, caring
manner, as if everyone working there was working on his or her own home.
As the end of the construction process approached, it was
clear that Dennis and Brett had left very few details to chance. You could see
the care and professionalism in every stroke of paint, every corner of drywall,
every piece of flooring; it was done right, or it was done again. What we were
left with after this process was a simply beautiful home that we thought for
sure we had lost in the days and weeks following the flood. But the team at
PuroClean simply would not quit until we had everything back in our home, and
no further work on our part would be needed. We even came home one day to find
Brett and his team vacuuming and hand wiping construction dust off of a rack
full of toys that was going back into the basement, and Dennis pouring topsoil
and grass seed over a patch of lawn that had been damaged by a construction vehicle
during the wet spring. Imagine the co-owners of the company cleaning toys and
repairing grass, just to make sure when we moved back in that everything was
perfect!
We were truly lucky that the day a pipe burst above our
kitchen and nearly washed our life away as we knew it, that Dennis O?Brian,
Brett Morrow, and the team at Warrenton PuroClean were the ones who answered
that frantic phone call from a family that simply did not know where to begin.
Turns out we got the first step, and the most important step right. Call
PuroClean of Warrenton, and let them handle it.
